You are the best! I live down South and you up there but we think the same. That proves people are good no matter where we're from.

Starting problem
So that clear Fram G3 is dry, right? I would remove that metal one for sure if it's "pre G3". You may have the flow arrow backwards or something. I think your best bet is running the supply hose to the pump straight out of a gas jug. Bypassing filters altogether.

Is that the Seth Rogen movie? I'd heard of it but now maybe time to give it a look. Thanks Captain! Oh yeah, Animal House, turns my top five into "Top Six". What sitcoms shaped y'alls sense of humor? Mine are Sanford and Son, Andy Griffith Show and Seinfeld. If you like Andy and Barney here's the funniest thing I've seen in awhile. It's NSFW so be careful viewing it.

I knew there were 5 in "The Top Five"!!! Up in Smoke makes my list complete.

i can see again!!!
I went to see it when it was in the theaters, got up and walked out. I think I was 13 or so. Watched it 20 years later and laughed my arse off, started it over and watched it again. Hadn't seen it since though, maybe time to rewatch? Blazing Saddles, Holy Grail and Caddyshack...Young Frankenstein. My top 4.

Rear wheel hop above 35mph
I read all the stories of broken rods and went back to rubber and poly versus all poly. Another I'll add is the nylon lock nuts on my car backed out and I had a loose TC rod. Lesson learned, use new lock nuts after backing them off once. Luckily I heard mine scraping in my driveway while backing out.

That is a very good, and simple test Jsm suggest. Elimination of gremlins. You could run speaker wire with alligator clips through the fuel sending inspection cover in the hatch. Easy to do I would think.

Starting problem
I wasn't thinking earlier. You can put a hose on the suction side of the fuel pump and run the return from the engine bay into another can. Won't have to fool with the fuel tank at all. Plus you could use all low pressure, cheaper, fuel line. There would be no high pressure involved. It only does that after the pump. You'd be feeding the pump and the return would be after the fuel pressure regulator, low.

Rebuilt engine idle problems, running rich
That's what you need. Rossiz has one but he lives in Washington and hasn't been on the forum in awhile. I'd start a new thread on that, maybe someone will see it and loan you one. We're on page three here. Maybe try something like "cam hook spring compressor needed"???? There's a cheap Chinese one on ebay or amazon for $50 when I was looking a year or so ago. Harbor Freight maybe?

I think you have Red-Kote stopping up the feed line or a vent line. Try running it out of a gas jug, bypassing the tank altogether like Zed Head suggest. You should be able to get to the supply hose without removing the tank completely, maybe lower the straps some? Look through this and you might see something, an idea, light bulb in your head. Good luck. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuel/gastank/index.htm

I read a good article from Harry Shearer in a GQ magazine a few months ago. The band's back together, in court. They are suing for back royalties from Spinal Tap, $400 MILLION! The company that owns the rights screwed them with some accounting trick, cross-collateralizing. Said the film barely broke even.

Yes Dennis I realized as soon as I hit the SUBMIT button y'all have had one hell of a summer out west. I get "complainy" when it's miserable outside, I can only image how you feel. Global warming, fake news?

Heat index here right now 101. My days start at 6am and end at 12pm. Life sucks this month and probably the first half of September.

280ZX Convertibles
Does it have a trunk? Pretty rare I would think. You scored! Back in the late 80s a buddy of mine decided he wanted a targa top on his '75. Cut the roof out and the car started folding up. He had some iron welded to the underside then got stuck on a speed breaker. He was an idiot.

Starting problem
In my opinion if the lines are clogged it would be instant. No 2 laps around the block. I keep thinking when it sits the blockage falls down then after driving it stirs back up and clogs it down. Have you tried replacing the metal filter on the passenger's side of the radiator? There $10.

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
For some reason my phone doesn't show the signature lines at the bottom, you have a '75 I see now from my laptop. I have a '77 too and that's why I remember Captain O's threads so well. Good luck in your search. I'm sure you'll find something, as Mike said above. His is a 260.

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
I'm thinking the mid 90s Sentra has the same lug nut pattern if you can't get an OE 280 spare. @Captain Obvious Knows for his '77. Can't remember what year you have though. Looks like a full size after a second look. You could try googling that. I've read a lot of substitutes over the years.

Rebuilt engine idle problems, running rich
The thermotine and coolant temp both have bullet connectors about a foot back from the injector connectors. Some people disconnect them there instead of breaking the fragile plastic. Sometimes those bullet connectors just need cleaning.

Quick and dirty horse divers. Lay out the beef cover with cream cheese and roll pickle spears up like a joint.- Float levels finally right! FYI
I drove my Z for a year with it running low fuel chambers. Ran good at low RPM but wouldn't climb the tach gauge, or a steep mountain. Finally did them the sure fire way by sitting the lids on a small glass jar very similar to the the float bowls. Dried beef jar marked to 23mm. Now I have a full fuel filter on the engine bay as well as the clear filter going into the OE filter. Car runs better than ever and keeps those filters FULL where they used to trickle and were half full. My car, I know others are different.- Rebuilt engine idle problems, running rich
I fixed my lean problem with a potentiometer. Pretty much a volume knob from radio shack that added more fuel. Google "Blue's Tech Tips fuel tweaker". Cost $5 bucks and runs great. You should also make sure your coolant temp sensor is nice and shiny brass, they get crusted with calcium from the radiator water. Another thing is the thermotine connections look exactly like the coolant temp sensor wires. They get crossed up a lot. One is black the other green but both are bullet connections. When you google the above it has a great picture showing this mistake. Hope that gives you more info to read up on. You are a mechanic.- clutch fork won't move
Maybe remove the rubber dust boot and look to see if it popped off the ball it uses as a stop?- Speedo Gear Body doesn't push in far enough
If I'm thinking right it has a "top hat" rubber washer and the O-ring on the body. They could be mushed up? There is also a seal that has to be seated with a 10mm socket? inside the housing. I did mine and there's a lot of info on here about this. Using my phone now but I'll try to find the thread I used in the morning when I crack open my laptop. - Float levels finally right! FYI
