  1. Be safe and enjoy your trip. You'll remember this forever but you may want to take pictures because you know dementia and all that.
  2. @hr369 where have you been? Hope all is well. I was googling around and found your diagram and thought I'd ask if you might have some a/c parts you would sale. Would you have a high side switch for a '77 Thanks for any reply, help. Cliff
  3. Mine start lifting around 100mph. I want some of those wiper arm spoilers ive seen.
  4. I could take a fire log dump and lose 20lbs. I have left what looks like, size and color of a beer bottle!
  5. Have you got a minimal tool kit, emergency kit put together for the trip? Basic tools, a can of fix a flat, fire extinguisher, zip ties, a cheap fram g2 fuel filter and low and behold a roll of duct tape. The fuel gauges in 240s are just for getting close. They're not accurate for s h I t. Maybe a spare alternator belt, fuses, some fuel line and maybe radiator hoses. On and on... Not a lot of stuff but I'd make a plan for potential problems. The fuel filter for sure unless you trust the guy about a good clean tank. Oh yeah, a jug of water too for a possible coolant leak. You know what to do, what you may need. I'm jealous, hoping for an incident free road trip that looks fantastic judging by the map. We'll all be on stand by until you get home. Another thing, alternate way to keep your phone hot; the cig lighter may not work. Best of luck! One more thing, ha ha, look at our member map. It shows where people are for your trip if you need some help. I'm hoping the lights and wipers have been upgraded with relays. Okay I'll quit now, I know your anxious enough already. Cliff
  6. that's the same plugs since float adjusting? #4 still looks bad. A proper valve adjustment may clear that up but after adjustment you'll need a new set. I know you get tired of buying plugs but you've spent sooooo much money on fuel pumps. Now your floats are right time to buy one more set. Sucks but that's part of the game.
  7. Good buy! The carbs are worth $300. Look above and between the 1st & 2nd spark plugs from the front and you should see a flat with the head code, E31, E88, N42, N47 or possibly P90. $500 is what they scrap for. You did good.
  8. 60 ft lbs according to this???
  9. But all you need to do to your flywheel is get it cut or resurfaced like a brake rotor. I've bought many clutch kits over the years but none had a flywheel, I used the existing one.
  10. That cockpit is cool as hell! No sounds though???
  11. Now I think of Thomas Dolby, you've blinded me with science! "I can hear machineryBlinding me with science, scienceScience"
  12. Good numbers! Thanks for the reply. Another reason for not "nailing" one when it's not up to temp is the coolant doesn't circulate as well until the thermostat fully opens.
  13. I've used Red Kote on two tanks and am very happy with them both. I ran clear filters for quite awhile and not once have I seen any pink gas. Bonzi Lon recommended it to me after doing his, also with good results. The key according to him and now me is to let that stuff cure for at least a week. I've read some bad reviews of Por-15 but I think it was user error. People got in a hurry and it peeled loose. Red Kote instructions, http://damonq.com/techsheets/red-kote.pdf
  14. Is there a reason for a new flywheel? The originals are fine. You could buy a 225mm or 240mm from someone on this forum for pretty cheap, probably cost more to ship it than what someone would sale you one for. Those are something I would think would be "a dime a dozen" but I've never bought one. I have a 240mm I'm gonna hang on to just in case I build my dream motor. more horsepower needs more surface area for better grip. Just curious though. You do what you want, but I don't understand?
  15. siteunseen replied to Erick's topic in Help Me !!
Heard it all already, thanks anyway though. That glass filter was a way of mine to make sure no Red Kote tank liner was failing. It's no longer there.

I ran this glass filter for at least a year at what, 36psi before the FPR?
  17. The coupe is 225mm, the 2+2 is 240mm. Your original flywheel is fine just take it to a machinists and have them lightened it up. You'd want to get it resurfaced at least. I have an aluminium Tilton and love it. It revs up like a motorcycle, quick. It takes a minute to get used to it but after that you won't notice the difference. By the time I get up and out of my driveway it's fine. Some people like the 240mm, more grip. But I don't have that kind of horsepower.
  18. Aren't you the one with the time capsule '78? As soon as the post about removing the jute to lighten it up I thought you would have been happier with a 240. That's another very nice Z. Are you gonna keep the 280? I hope you do if you have the garage space, it's money in the bank or gold. They're not making anymore and it'll just increase in value. That 911 will have a dead battery from now on. Congratulations! It's a very nice sickness to be afflicted with.
  19. Thank you! After I replied I thought I may crossed the line without explanation. You probably have forgotten more than I'll ever know but my parents were '70s hippies and i watched more Monty Python than Bugs Bunny. Great parents, I guess, but they had no child proof filter when it came to humor at my house. I guess you all can tell I haven't got one myself? Thanks for not getting pissed. I'm trying to do better. Cliff
  20. "completely different"
  21. I just poured motor oil over the chain before the first start up. The tensioner has it's own oil supply hole on front of the block and as long as you prime the oiling before cranking it should be fine.
  22. Is #6 135 or 185? Hard to tell from here. I'm sure it's 185, well pretty sure and those are great readings. I feel like you have the main problem resolved, getting the floats right. You owe Mark a big ole THANK YOU. Just know that you need to baby it until it reaches temp. No need for full choke until then though. It'll spit and sputter with full choke while driving. My suggestion is run full choke before getting on the road, you'll be able to look at the motor while it gets warm. Check for leaks and just a good overall inspection before running it up to 110mph. How are your brakes by the way? Can't remember you talking about them in the past. You don't want any supplies-es at 110! You know Ed Zachery what I mean. We want you to be around for the 2020 Erection. @psdenno
  23. Spend a little more for a good kit than those cheap ones on ebay. My 280 has a $60 one from ebay and I got one from a Z specific online for $100. The quality difference of the parts was daylight and dark. It was a True Line? or something like that. The ebay was Chinese and the other American made. Cheap one had rough edges on the tensioner body and all black links on the chain. You could compare them on amazon and look for the higher rating. Good luck in your search.
  24. Stay the course through the fog a very wise man told me.
