Annoying resonance or droning!
i put a hot dog on my car, and it was all quiet and nice, cept for at high RPMs, you heard it sulio anyway, and you know the differance, its basically you want it to sound good but not with the droning, only way to do that is to scracrifice the good sound for a ok sound.... get a largish hot dog... and u'll be able to talk to the passanger when your on the freeway.... my setup was originally... 6-2-1 extractors, 2 1/4inch exhaust with a 2 1/4 inch sports muffler, was extremely loud, couldn't talk to the passanger when foot was on the peddle... i put a largish hotdog in the middle near the gearbox, and was quieter, and could talk to the passanger

Clutch Issue?
machining of flywheel will cost around the $50 mark for a Brand name clutch... check EXcedy - they will have a clutch for you at a brand name price... personally, just go a basic heavy duty for a 2+2 flywheel, but put the 2+2 flywheel in... not sure if starter motor mod is needed but i'm sure you will sort that out....

Damaged 350z at auctions
40k.... haha... for a wreck is BS, but some places will offer it... i was be assuming the car would be going for around the 15k mark... nothing near 40k.... thats what a wrecked 911 turbo went for...

Damaged 350z at auctions
hey i was at fowles auctions the other day, and saw a wrecked 350z waiting to go into auction next week, it was hit on the side, possibly rolled. i suspect whole drivetrain would be perfect, i'll be there next week, to take a look at some new cars and tell ya if its there still, and give ya the estimated price it will be going for, would be a killer swap into a early Z, it was that orange color also....

Is the 240k cool or not???
its goota look jap spec for a 240k to look cool, but as we are talking 240k's and not jap spec skylines i say they are cool, but not ultrahip cool like a jap spec 240k, still prefer a 1600 or a Z, over a 240k...

Opinions on those Clear Headlight Covers... for an Z

Turbo vs Stroker? whats better?
turbo most of the time is actaully cheaper than supercharging, thats why people turbo rather than supercharge, and theres alot more range for turbo cars out there compared to supercharged cars

Need Help W/ Sr20det Conversion!!!!
sr20det engines rock... i know of a few people now who are putting in a sr20det or wanting to put a sr20det into there Z's.... the only way of knowing what to do with the swap as in custom stuff, i can't see it needing a custom sump, as you would be placing it far back and will clear everything... but custo mounts and gearbox mount isn't that big of a deal, id say you can use a S13 mount and fab it a little to make it work the main problem would be shifter location, as i'm pretty sure it will be a bit to far forward... but with the amount of room you'll have in the engine bay, you can place the engine exactly in the right spot... would be fun with it all, guages wouldn't really be a problem, you'd just need to buy all new guages, which most people do anyway on a new tech engine swap... converting the fuel system to efi, just need a efi pump, a surge tank and a nice fuel pump to pump the gas into the surge tank, and theres plenty of room in the back there for all of that... a main problem would be the rear end, with it braking of old age, and not being engineering to take that sort of power, and also a LSD is neccesary, maybe fitting in a S13 rear cradle into a 240z would be the go, they great diffs, and some fab work will get it in no problems suspension would need to be fixed up, the L6 is a big iron block with the sr20 is all alloy, and alot less weight compared to the L6./... so some custom stuff might be in order there my mate has a sr20det 180sx, and he is pulling a 13.7 1/4, with 14psi boost, custom cooler, intake, + exhaust. thats with stock motor, thats pulling a 1250kg body, the 240z body weighs like 1000kg, so it will be a very fast car if completed All in all, its alot of work, and alot of time and difinately alot of money, but thats the whole fun off it, Personally i would love to do it, but i love inline 6 turbos, and would go a Rb25det over the sr20det, just for personal reasons... its like why people like v8s rather than turbo's... i like my Zs with 6s

Stolen Cars
when my car was stolen, i actaully had a fuel pump switch in, but it wasn't functional, as when the guys put in my new fuel pump, the wires were really badly put in, so they removed it, but the switch was under the seat, inside the horzontail metal rails that the seats go onto, if you know wat i mean, inside one of the holes...

260z 2 seater Values
well basically, the max i can get from them is 5k minus excess which is $450, and well i'll be fighting them for around $500 bucks, which will take around 3-8weeks to sort out, then for them to even give me a cheque after that time will be ages, and i don't have the time to mess around as i need a car for work, play and school... and as its 3rd party, theres nothing extremely i can do, like getting them to replace the car etc..

260z 2 seater Values
hey The insurance people have just called about the car, its a write off, the accessor guy told my dad $4000, not knowing what the actaull value was my dad said no problem, Now, the problem is that i want around 4500-5000 to be able to get another decent car, not that i havn't got spare cash etc, just that id rather use that for mods on the car rather the outright car... So, i have documented $2600 in receipts for parts for the Z, and $1800 for engine rebuild work, now thats just $4000 in its own, but relying that the insurance will say that they are parts etc, and so its worth like %50 of what you spent, and mind you that $4000 doesn't include labour i did all the work myself with my dad, well thats what i am thinking the insurance company will say, I am insured for maximum cover of $5000, i thought that i would get this amount no problem, which isn't so, so i gotta make sure that i've got a case with the insurance company, I've got to show adds for 260z 2 seater 5spd that are for sale, and i've got a few this week, and from last weeks trading post, and if anyone else can help me out with accessment values, maybe your insure has accessed your vehicle, i would really like it if you could photocopy the sheet and send it to me, or scan it in and send to my email... etc.. Just want to find out, if anyone else has had some experiance in this area, and could help me out, redbook values the car at around the 2500-4500 mark, which doesn't help me at all, and means really jack $^!# towards old Z's, and showing the pictures that i have got of the car, it was a very very nice car etc... and if with all the receipts i got it won't be a problem to get the extra $1000 from the insurance guys, this has already lasted 3 weeks without a car, and can't really wait that long, as i got another car that i want to buy

Tentatively bougth a '72, tell me how I did?
he paid US$6000, prox i agree with the other guys, if you got it less than $5000 it would be a steal but $6000 isn't a steal but still a good buy, here in aus, US$6000 is say around the AU$10k mark, which is around exactly what that condition of car would sell for in australia, the car could sell here for a lot more than AU$10k, but you know what i mean, australian Z's arnt as expensive as US good condition Z's, even though there are less here, but theres so many good ones that people don't part with, and all the $^!# and all really modded ones get sold.. but all in all, if i was in your position, i would've bought it also for that price, it looks awesome, and a car in that condition... i am with you on the changing parts that can be easily changed back, its not like its a collectors car, that won't be drivin, or you are keeping it to make more money on the car etc, i presume you are buying it to drive it, and a 4spd or 5spd will make you drive it then so be it, but best to keep all the auto parts togther, and if you want to mod the engine etc maybe best to get another engine and keep the original engine original.... but its ur car, and you can do whatever you like... and also with springs/shocks etc keeping the original stuff and is it just me, or do the original 240z hubcaps, just look damn awesome, never seen such good looking hubcaps suit the car great, for the classic look...

240sx or 240Z?????
whoever said its a sr20, can you find those pictures, really interested. people can mistake a SR20 redtop for a red valve covers which are RB26 sometimes.. off the topic kinda, i'm in contact with a friend in japan, who saw a AWD rb26deT 240z that is in the making, owner is hoping for 8second passes, but its not a real 240z, its basically a R34 GTR chassis with a modified 240z body on top, if you know what i mean, the guy building it owns a major tuning place in japan, so major engineering is in it, and its supposed to be driving on the street also.... ... IE i don't know this person, just wat a mate of mine saw while visiting/working in japan... lucky he could speak japanese also.. hehe, i'm trying to make him go back and get pictures, but he says he working to much...

2+2 gear into 2 seater
cool its not to bad are you sure its a P90 head, if its a P90 head it would for sure have the F54 block, as thats what the P90 head came with, and if it came with extractors even better bonus I would've had a look on how they converted from carbed to efi, meaning for the fuel tank, did they make a surge tank and do it the proper way, or just stick a longer hose into the tank and a efi fuel pump which works but is the cheap and sometimes bad for engine way around it.. but either way, you can do a few things when you install... 2+2 rear end is differant , and wider, and basically don't even bother to use anything from the rear except for diff and moustache bar... putting 240z lights into 260z, isn't totally difficult, problem is the bracket is differant, and will have holes and exhaust fumes will kill you, best way to do it, is to see the rear light brakects on a 240z, and cut the holes out in the 260z bracket, then weld up the other holes that arn't needed, also check for rust down there, Z's are prown to rust down there...

Using a 240z as a daily-driver ?
i drove my 260z 2 seater daily, i personally wouldn't have driving the car everyday if it had good paint, but it didn't so i didn't bother... i cained the crap out of the car 24/7 every time i droove the car, its just that i couldn't resist reving the car out and going sideways thou the corner, reason why i went thou 3 sets of tyres in 2 years of driving most prolly, and that was only 20,000kms, my car held up pretty well, i never left me stranded, only things to majorly stuff up was the rear moustache bar broke after i thought id drop the clutch, and my voltage regulator blew up from old age, and my distributer was old and rough, so i bought a new one, also my fuel pump was only pushing 0.7psi took a while to work this one out.. , but all in all, i warmed up the Z all the time, untill it got 3/4 the way to full temp, then i drove it slowly till full temp, then FT all the way... hehe, loved that Z

2+2 gear into 2 seater
2+2s are differant from behind the front seats only, thats where they are lengthend, except for differant doors as well, so all interoir parts in front of the seats fit, except door trims.. all exteroir body parts in front of the windscreen fit 2 seaters as well, rear suspension is differant..., front suspension is the same, cept for possibly springs, but you don't need to worry bout that.. id buy it for parts if the front body panels are all good, and the engine is good, but matters what it costs in the first place... less than 500 bucks and its worth it.. , but up to you..
