  1. Automatic? Looks pretty rust-free. Interior shots would help your sale. You misspelled Oregon.
  2. It's just an internet magazine, building a brand. Probably saw the high prices and volume of Z's on BAT, plus the "Green Monster" huge price, and felt the need to make an article. We all shouldn't forget that cars have always been about making money. It's business. Just for fun I collected some pictures from today's Seahawks game. It's really weird how Pete Carroll is supposed to be a smart guy, but seems unaware of what pro football players do when they 're not training. Pete Carroll is 69 years old. The 2nd picture is funny. "Your nose dude, your nose!.." https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/culture/video/multiple-nfl-teams-report-covid-19-outbreaks-75022077
  4. I wonder if @Carl Beck was involved, or even knows they used his pictures. Probably pulled words from his site also. Let's find out. And, just for the record, what's happening here is not really a big deal. It's called "vetting". Just trying to figure out what should be believed. They should have at least tied some real names to the article. There are 11 names before the "additional" guys. Additional Contributors: (click name for stories) Tony Adamowicz, Marshall Autry, Peter Brown, Len Clarke, Hal Crocker, David Ferguson, Vince Johnson, Csaba Kiss, Nathan Leach-Proffer, Rich Martin, Ed McDonough, Darren Pierson, Lee Robie, Bob Ross, Steve Rossini, Al Wolford, Simon Wright, Wallace Wyss, Marco Zanello
  5. I always look for sources when I read historical articles, especially in today's age of Wikipedia expertise. Any professional writer knows that sources are the most important part of writing. They didn't have any at all, not a single one. And no "author" to contact about any inaccuracies. You can see that they, whoever "they" are, just surfed the interwebs and picked up scraps here and there. Zhome, Mecum, Nissan, etc. Some of the info seems to be from auction listings or auction house sales literature. The article is a classic fluff piece, meant to jazz up interest and sell magazines or get views. Sorry, I wish it was something worth referring to to learn from, but you might as well just make a list from their picture attributions and go to those sites. You'll be one step closer to the real source. And, besides that, they are essentially stealing from the sites they surfed on to get their tidbits. Without attribution it's plagiarism. That's what caught my attention. They surfed the web, scavenged material, and put it all together as an authoritative article, but it's really just a day's worth of web surfing, condensed.
  6. The dust shield comes right off with the tail shaft housing. The output shaft is hanging free inside, no need to mess around back there. If you don't have even a tiny gap at the mating area with the adapter plate (the solid metal plate between the front and back) then it's probably just glued together with sealant. Give it some side to side love taps to break that seal. The FSM procedure is pretty thorough. Dust shield still attached.
  7. Did it come part way off then get stuck or has it not even broken the mating surface yet? Pretty common to have to do some wiggling and shaking to get it completely off. Also, are you sure it's not a close ratio with the reverse lockout mechanism?
  8. Fun to read but no references and no author. The disclaimer doesn't even really apply. Who knows where the "facts" came from. Can't really do a background check on Mr. Digest. Datsun 240Z: High Performance from an Affordable Sports Car December 29, 2020 by Sports Car Digest https://sportscardigest.com/about-sports-car-digest/ Views and opinions expressed are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the position of Sports Car Digest.
  9. I rejected some shoe ads now I have a new ad. Hard to reject this one though.
  10. Here's a good combo. Dirty knives and ear wax. Mmmm... I wonder if Google lets you set up your ads to drive people to pay to avoid them. I'll start rejecting ads that I actually like and see what happens.
  11. It's a weird thing. The more I reject it the more it shows up. Just had it on the top big ad and the little mini-ad at the bottom. I think it's AI gone awry.
  12. And another. Something new every day... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-datsun-280zx-18/
  13. Good eye, but it might be a ZX thing. Here's another one. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1982-datsun-280zx-16/
  14. Looks like they saw a need and filled it. I don't think Nissan uses rubber gaskets.
  15. Is there any way to get rid of a certain ad forever? I tried all the clicks on this disgusting dirty knife ad but it shows up again and again. Who sharpens a knife when it's dirty? There must be a separate sub-class of humanoids that these ads work on. How do I separate myself from them?
  16. Over the years I've always seen the reaction disc problem described as one where the brakes are either full on or full off. I think that's why it's called a reaction disc. I feel compelled to say that a fallen reaction disc causing the pedal to slowly sink to the floor just does not make sense, physically, mechanically, hydraulically, or any which way. The actions of doing the work to take things apart, find the disc, glue it back in to place, and rebleed the brakes might be leading to better pedal function and brake operation, but there's no direct rational reason for the missing disc to allow the master cylinder piston to travel the length of the cylinder without creating pressure.. I feel better now. Magic makes me nervous. Be gone evil spirits!! Edit - unless the missing disc causes the MC rod to "cokc", causing the piston seals to leak. Maybe that's it. Indirect effect.
  17. I wanted to see the little girl try to match the backup singer's big solo on the original. And they should have put the tambourine in the bear's paws. That was a good watch though. For reference:
  18. I have vague memories of this coming up before. I think we decided that a person should seal the top and sides but leave the bottom open, so that if any water/condensation does get in there it can drain out and dry out. Kind of like a window in a house. The rubber bellows seals the hole to the inside so the gasket's only purpose is to keep stuff out of the gap,
  19. Clean blue first year ZX. Looks in awesome shape. Almost makes me want to switch. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-datsun-280zx-21/
  20. 1978 and 1973 show no signs of a gasket. My 76 didn't have one. And carpartsmanual doesn't show one. I think the rubber bellows is the seal between inside and outside. No need for a gasket. For what it's worth. Where is the 7" booster gasket available from? http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/brake/master-vac-hose
  21. Comes with 7 crates of "stuff" AND ECT ECT. Looks like it will be quite a while before the price starts climbing. 1971 gen 1 240z ready for paint. cut out all rust new pans, fenders, hood, new dog legs, rocker, hatch sill ECT ECT. Got all parts to put interior back. Plus 2 sets of wheels extra doors, fender, seats, 7 crates of stuff. To many projects. Price will go up as I near completion. Choose your color now
  22. Check out these Krylon Camouflage colors. I had a can in my garage and used it on a bunch of different things. Not too shiny and the color I had was not quite black, but not quite any other color either. I think it was olive. It was like black with a hint of dark green, and dark brown. https://www.amazon.com/Krylon-K04293007-Camouflage-Technology-11-Ounce/dp/B00176UX26
  23. $55,000 for the silver 71. The seller called himself cobrajet and said that he had had several 240Z's in the past. Either didn't set a reserve or set it below 55 (obviously). Seemed like a car guy with a collection just moving one along.
  24. I was looking at muscle cars and came across some entertaining videos. Also reminded me of an old Portland thing that happened. I learned how to turn in to the skid driving on wet Washington streets as a kid. The key is fast hands on the steering wheel. These guys are all too slow.
  25. Lots of comments on the silver 71 and somebody bumped the bid up by $12,000 in one shot a few days ago. Probably going to get a good number on it today. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-156/
