  1. Don't they call this a distinction without a difference in the upper-crusty world? Used to facilitate a pointless discussion, usually. Trying to win a prize that has no value. You win.
  2. To be frank, I didn't even notice that there were two. Thanks for the knowledge. But, my folllowup reading suggests that CNH would be correct for a US purchase. It's the "offshore" currency. But #2 though, it looks like it doesn't really matter much as far as conversion goes. https://blog.currencycloud.com/the-difference-between-cny-and-cnh "...Since then, these regulations have been gradually eased, leading to the development of RMB markets in Hong Kong and other offshore RMB markets like Australia, the US, Singapore and the UK as China gradually internationalized the renminbi. These exist alongside the RMB onshore market in mainland China, where buying and selling restrictions still apply. As a result, there are now two RMB markets: offshore and onshore. ..." What is the difference between CNY & CNH?There are two types of renminbi covering a different major trading market. CNY is renminbi traded within mainland China. CNY, also termed onshore yuan, is controlled by the Government of China with the aim of empowering trade between Chinese companies and to maintain a favorable value of the yuan. The yuan is used mainly for two purposes on the onshore market: interbank settlements, and when corporations sell and buy FX for business purposes. The yuan’s onshore exchange rate ticker is CNY. Foreign businesses trading within mainland China can accept CNY as payment, but when they want to use yuan offshore, they need to exchange CNY to CNH. CNH is renminbi traded offshore from mainland China. CNH, also termed as offshore yuan, is controlled by the free market which determines its value. It is specifically designed to be an offshore version of renminbi so that it can be freely traded in offshore markets like Singapore and Hong Kong. Its ticker is CNH. Looks like conedodger doesn't read the posts in his thread. Jun hang, Jung Chen. Oh well, I did pile a lot in here. @Toiletduck34 you could probably ship the whole car for less. Might be an option if you can agree on price.
  3. Putting some of the puzzle together. https://www.junchengauto.com/product/16327.html https://resurrectedclassics.com/collections/1970-1973-240z/products/datsun-240z-rear-taillight-body-panel
  4. It was Resurrected Classics. And their images look familiar too. We're seeing behind the curtain. https://resurrectedclassics.com/collections/1970-1973-240z?srsltid=AfmBOoplFg6bbd6hPgSPbyybNp58qYbvGQjpH5RYqBDaYN7F6Zq83j4Z https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69173-problems-with-240z-doors-from-resurrected-classics/
  5. More that looks familiar. Still wonder if you can buy direct. Who was that US shop that was selling ill-fitting door shells? https://www.alibaba.com/search/page?spm=a2700.details.pageModule_fy23_pc_search_bar.associationItem_pos_0&SearchScene=proSearch&SearchText=240z+rear+panel&pro=true&from=pcDetailHeader
  6. Probably have to go to one of the retail online shops though. Found something on alibaba. Looks familiar. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/REPLACEMENT-COMPLETE-CAR-BODY-ASSEMBLY-for_1601603308255.html?spm=a2700.prosearch.normal_offer.d_title.2b1967afac7UaL&priceId=fe7e6e2387554935b9342c9234e8f73a
  7. Makes more sense. Still not terrible. A fender is $106. I hope somebody tries to buy some parts so we can see how it works, and the quality.
  8. Remy makes new. I have one on my main vehicle, a Ford. Been fine. I'd still check your damper. Hard to see why the loose alternator pulley/shaft would start vibrating on its own. Seems like something is setting it off. Good luck. Looks like WAI Global is the only new option though. I think that they make their parts at a variety of places. Surprisingly hard to figure out where. Looks like China is involved, of course. https://en.abrams.wiki/Wai-Global-Div-Of-Wetherill-AssociatesInc/3--ddg-f2fixlRbpNOdw1wjQ https://en.abrams.wiki/tools/companytransparency/dashboard/3--ddg-f2fixlRbpNOdw1wjQ/suppliers https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,1978,280z,2.8l+l6,1209260,electrical,alternator+/+generator,2412
  9. https://www.junchengauto.com/store/search/sycx-datsun_240z-catid-1.html Looks like the yen symbol, even though it's from China. Maybe because it's a Japanese car. Seems very cheap. Shipping and handling are probably high. Plus the tariff. Probably have to buy a lot of 100. https://www.xe.com/en-us/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=432&From=JPY&To=USD $2.71 !!! https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/69971-zs-from-china/#comments
  10. I wonder if you could see the culprit vibrating when it happens. If it's repeatable it might be worthwhile to work the throttle by hand and watch. Probably scary though.
  11. I just saw a video about made-in-China Muncie M22 transmissions (old car hot rod 4 speeds). The guy gave a good explanation about how parts are shipped to the US in bulk, then shipped out from the warehouses. The unit was a combination of decent parts and not-quite-right parts.
  12. They have other web pages and a Facebook page. Seems disjointed. They show the complete body as a possible purchase. You could probably ask for other parts like floor pans or transmission tunnels. https://www.carbody.com/product/classic-car/nissan-parts-1/240z-parts/ https://www.carbody.com/product/240z-parts/replacement-complete-car-body-assembly-19691973-for-nissan-datsun-240z.html https://www.facebook.com/JunchengVehicle/videos/jdm-fj40-datsun-240z-ae86-car-body-shell-is-ready-in-factory-fj40-nissangtr-ae86/1977505903102757/
  13. Suspect maybe, but no clear cause. Not clear how all of the noise in the first video would be caused by that. Also never really answered the question about "engine off" noise. Why would the alternator keep spinning if the engine was not? Just trying to make sense of the words you wrote. Making progress though. "...persists after killing engine..."
  14. I see now. Different eyes get drawn to different things.
  15. Watched more of the video. At the end he talks about one of the fake Broncos selling for $400,000. At 37:00 in the video. Kind of looks like they're trying to create artificial value perception. Apparently they sent a body to a builder, who finished it. The company itself probably bought the car or paid someone to buy it. I'm a cynic. Weird stuff. Let's see if the 73/78 2X0Z body ends up out there.
  16. Might be that they're just building model car bodies to showcase their parts catalog. Might be mentioned in the video, didn't watch the whole thing. I don't see all of the parts on their page though. https://www.junchengauto.com/store/search/sycx-datsun_240z-catid-1.html
  17. I'm not grokking what you mean by one angle and two angles, I see numerous angles everywhere, but it does look like they copied the later 240Z body. Then put a 77/78 280Z hood on it. I wonder who is directing their efforts. The video has only been up 13 hours and already has 3,254 comments and 594,010 views. This is one case where AI might come in handy to summarize the comments.
  18. I think that there are three rear tower styles - 240Z; big body 74 260Z, 75 and 76 280Z; and modifed rear deck 77 and 78 280Z.
  19. Feelin' okay.
  20. Fan or fan clutch maybe. You probably removed it for the radiator. The fan blades could cause some serious vibrations. Check the bolts. The no-belt test should be telling.
  21. Look in the Resources section of the site.
  22. Are you saying it's a 240Z tower? AKA small body? I looked around for resto 240Z pictures and found a few. I couldn't find any 280Z pictures. The China body doesn't look like this 240Z, below. Three holes in the brace and it doesn't reach the top of the tower. It's an abomination! Not an expert. https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/55998-picture-thread-early-vin-cars/#comment-501358 And first page of dspillman's resto thread. https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/68900-finally-found-a-69-240z-51-time-to-finish-a-30-year-multiple-owner-restoration/#comments
  23. Are those not 280Z tall strut towers? Full size spare tire well. Vented hood. It seems to be some sort of hybrid Z.
  24. But, it looks like their replication process has some flaws. Or the narrator misheard 1978 280Z as 240Z. Wonder what the rear strut towers look like. Found it.
  25. This company has come up before. Stumbled a cross a video about it. $9,500 for a "new" 240Z body. About 0:50 in. https://youtu.be/cBBZrjwqWZc?si=hYSPDBMdPgUH3oPH
