Crozier. It goes to the top. The source. "It isn’t clear what role Trump may have played in Crozier’s ouster. Modly told one colleague Wednesday, the day before he announced the move: “Breaking news: Trump wants him fired.”" https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/04/04/trump-wants-him-fired-inside-ouster-capt-brett-crozier/

Not sure it matters who left the transom plug out. The boat is still sinking.

  4. Here's a story from a Portland Oregon station - https://katu.com/news/coronavirus/metro-area-health-officers-offer-guidance-on-wearing-face-coverings
  5. Here is a super simple design that you can make up in a hurry. It's a common wash cloth with two holes punched in it and a piece of string to hang it over your ears. The loops tied in to the string in the back are used to make the final adjustment to get the desired tightness so it doesn't slip. A rubber band would probably work too. Or a piece of stiff wire. Or some old ear pieces from a pair of glasses. I only had string available. It requires some projection of the nose, small noses might have a problem. And smaller skulls will probably want to move the holes in the cloth inward. It's actually pretty comfortable, enough for a trip through the supermarket or other places where people might be. And it fits in your pocket.
  6. Here is a link to a very recent story that goes in to great detail about how masks or face shields are effective. Also, the link to the CDC page recommending them. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/apr/04/why-wear-a-mask-may-be-our-best-weapon-to-stop-coronavirus https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fprepare%2Fprevention.html Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick. Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected. Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker. Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.
  7. All signs are that a mask or face shield or piece of cloth in front of your mouth and nose has a significant effect on stopping the spread of the virus. you can be contagious for a week or more before you realize it, spreading the virus in droplets from your breathing, apparently. Please don't post conspiracy theories or comments about where the masks are going or therpaeutic cures or other things. Just mask or face shield designs, and/or the government guidance on using them. Maybe local guidance also. The focus is on having a mask available and using it to stop the spread to other people. zKars had a nice design for a very good mask over in the COVID-19 thread. Here is a link to his first post.

As seems normal these days there is very little direction even in the directions we're getting. I see a lot of writing around the internet where people are comparing filtration materials then designing masks that don't seal around the edges. I don't think that the FDA has even updated all of their pages, this one still says that masks are not recommended for COVID-19. What a cluster. https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/personal-protective-equipment-infection-control/n95-respirators-and-surgical-masks-face-masks https://www.yahoo.com/news/using-blue-shop-towels-homemade-221911287.html FDA site here - Surgical Masks (Face Masks) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend that people who are well wear a face mask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including coronavirus (COVID-19). More FDA wrongness - https://www.fda.gov/emergency-preparedness-and-response/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19-frequently-asked-questions "Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others." I don't have fabrication tools handy and Washington, actually the CDC now, is recommending that everyone wear a face covering. The idea, I think, not fully explained in detail by anyone here, is that it keeps droplets from spraying from your mouth or nose, and it keeps other people from spraying droplets in to your mouth or nose. Not so much a filter but a spray shield. I think that a clear face shield would do as well. I haven't made one yet but it looks like I can cut ear holes in the corners of a simple wash cloth, and hang it from my ears. I might run down to Harbor Freight though and pick up a face shield instead. I feel like a bandit just covering the lower half of my face testing the wash cloth concept.

This page stays up to date. The US is already double Spain or Italy in confirmed cases, even with the lack of testing.

It certainly gets old talking about this but it's important. Here's the interchange I think you saw.

The video here exposes Trump's base level. He's just not even close to what we need. Watch his hands, and Dr. Birx's face, and how she leaves. Watch it a couple of times. It's amazing.
  14. The video wouldn't play without the missing $0.99 Microsoft "codec". Youtube it.

Trump is actually starting to look and act more like Alec Baldwin. Pretty funny to watch as he stands there listening to people talk.
  16. Any of the starters from 1970 to 1983 (ZX) will work. The ZX starters are gear reduction, higher torque. Any will bolt up and wire up and work fine. If you want it to look correct then 1970 - 1978 (?). The big ones.
  17. I spend much less time feeling I should be doing something more constructive.

Fun fact - the decimal and three figures of 98.6 just comes from converting 37 Celsius to Farenheit. It should really be 99. Body temperature actually varies a bit between humans. Something to read while isolating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_body_temperature

Good luck. Have you lost your sense of taste and smell? That is one of the signs. Apparently happens to 80% of the people who test positive.
  21. There's quite a bit on the forum about Swepco 201. Also about Pennzoil Synchromesh, which is very popular. Even Synchromesh Friction-Modified, which is apparently the latest best stuff. Everybody that tries it loves it. JMortensen recommended Swepco 201 in the past, but he also said that they would cut it with ATF, because straight Swepco was a bit thick. Here's an old thread, + 1, with his comments. Search Swepco and/or synchromesh and you'll find a bunch more. On hybridz.org also. p.s. Your extended funnel looks familiar. If you use 5/8" heater hose instead of the small clear tubing, things happen faster. Especially on a cold day.
  22. So we're doing home movies now? Sorry. You knew that was going to happen though, right?

And more. Australia probably knows China better than the US does (or says they do). They were aware of China's problem very early., apparently. Like our intelligence should have been. - "Australia's chief medical officer says global cases could be '5-10 times higher' than reported Australia’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Brendan Murphy has said worldwide cases of Covid-19 could be “five to 10 times” higher than the one million known currently. Murphy says the only numbers he has total faith in are the Australian numbers, because “we have the highest testing rate in the world” (Trump has also claimed this mantle).
