Removing Rear Suspension 1975 280Z
There are several points to jack from and support from. This is from the General Information chapter. You'll probably be fine. The car is only tippy if you lift in the middle, between the recommended points.

HELP!! 72 240Z + 280ZX CR TRANSMISSION + 88VLSD DIF = DRIVE SHAFT?
How to get limited slip in a Z car is one of those things that looks easy but ends up complex. We all want it, but it's hard to get. There are driveshaft shops all over the place. The 4x4 community supports the businesses. Check your local phone book and make some calls. Find one out away from the city and you can probably get it done and balanced for about $100.

HELP!! 72 240Z + 280ZX CR TRANSMISSION + 88VLSD DIF = DRIVE SHAFT?
Why do you want to replace the T5? It took some work to get that in to a 240Z.

HELP!! 72 240Z + 280ZX CR TRANSMISSION + 88VLSD DIF = DRIVE SHAFT?
The yoke/flanges are not meant to be removed. The u-joints are staked in. There are machine shops that will convert them to removable u-joints but it's not a DIY kind of job.

HELP!! 72 240Z + 280ZX CR TRANSMISSION + 88VLSD DIF = DRIVE SHAFT?
My understanding is that the VLSD half-shafts will be too long. The propeller shaft yoke pattern would be the same as any 300ZX I think. You'll need the mustache bar and diff mount if you have an R180 now. There's a bunch on hybridz.org about the VLSD. Not many success stories. It seems simple but ends up difficult and expensive. https://forums.hybridz.org/search/?q=vlsd&quick=1

valve train components-78 280z
I got curious so browsed around and found this in the inspection area of the chapter. It says measure length and tension, and says that "out of spec" is if the number is exceeded. Typical unclear instructions though, they combined both and didn't specify a tolerance. If you have the Monroe or Honsowetz books I'll bet there's good advice in there.

Here is the spec illustration from the 78 FSM. The 49.98 converts to 1.9678. You're saying that all of your springs are equally too short. Since the springs are compressed at all times I don't think that free height is critical. It could only affect preload, but would not affect spring rate. I'd use them if I was on a budget, but that's me. Not an engine expert.

FS5W71B transmission identification (close-ratio vs. wide ratio) - with pictures
Replying to EuroDat: I could be wrong but I have memories of being disappointed that it didn't have it. It was a very useful improvement. I did like the .773 5th ratio better than the .745, you could feel the difference. .773 is more usable. At one time I had a 76 4 speed, 78 5 speed, 1983 5 speed, and the 1980 5 speed. But the 1980 5 speed came from a 1981 car, a 2+2. I checked the ratios on all of them using Whiteout marks and counting. I sold the car so can't check. I see that it's supposed to have it but am almost certain that mine didn't. I do notice though that the drawing I posted also shows the outer dust sleeve on that tail section even though mine didn't have that. But the ratios are from the same FSM. Oh well, one of those mysteries. Maybe I'll come across another .773 5 speed someday. My new mission. https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/nissan-rev-check-assy~32180-e9801.html?vin=&make=Nissan&model=280ZX&year=1980&submodel=&extra1=&extra2=&filter=(1=2S;2=L28E;3=J;4=MT;5=F5;6=C;7=FED)

It's not too hard to check the ratios. Put it in fifth, mark the ends of the shafts and give one input turn. .745 is before 3/4, .773 is after. But yours has the reverse lockout plate, which only came on the later 81-83 units. So it's almost certainly the .745 5th.

Parts Wanted: SCAMMER ALERT!!! CZC member GRUDGE
He's on the run now though. Maybe Mike can do some IT magic and find out who it is. There is an actual Critchcorp Computer in England. But "William" left out the "c". Critch orp. A scammer's trick I'd guess. Leave out a letter, make it look like a real place. https://www.cc-computers.com/

That was my fault. I went straight to the William Russel part and overlooked Grudge. Looks like he "joined" just to scam you, (I see the post date now. Same as Grudge's joining like he's waiting for a victim.) Posted your ad below. On the good side - you're getting lots of pub. Somebody here has to have those valves. @borini63 just posted the other day and he has that kind of stuff.

355-Mile 1976 Datsun 280Z Up for Auction on BaT!
It's at $126,000. I'm going to bet on Reserve Not Met. This is a cautious time of year and time of civilization for people and their money. Just doesn't feel like people are going to take that big chance.

Don't blame the whole community for one person's, mine, comments. , Grudge's scam. You still seem injured from getting scammed. I posted so that other people in the community could avoid the scam, supposedly the very reason that you posted. We're on the same side. Posts like yours pop up every now and then and they're very helpful. What I posted in response shows people how to avoid the same thing happening to them. Sorry that you ended up paying but I could only remedy that part of your problem by sending you money. And that wouldn't make sense.

That name looks familiar, from years back. I did a Google on his email, see below. Looks like he/she/it even does reptile scams. Anywhere that money can be wired, probably. Looks like the key is finding pictures that can be re-used. No offense, but you run an online business. You should have known. And why did you use Venmo? Don't they have recourse for scams. I thought that was the whole point of Paypal and other online payment companies. Besides anonymity, which in this case is not good. Share some details so we can learn how this happened and avoid it. Used to be the scams were a guy overseas in the military with a car in Las Vegas. Wire the money, and he'll ship the car for free. https://venmo.com/ Did you contact Venmo? - https://help.venmo.com/hc/en-us/articles/235171088-Cancel-Payment https://www.google.com/search?q=critchorpcomputer&rlz=1C1SQJL_enUS862US862&oq=critchorpcomputer&aqs=chrome..69i57&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 https://www.reptileforums.co.uk/forums/13377627-post1.html

1973 240Z with its Original 112 Yellow Paint, 70k Original Miles & Stored Indoors for 40 Years
You've talked to him? What's the back-story? He's not putting a ton of effort in to selling it. Might be one of the sparsest CL ads I've seen in a while.

He already did this. I quoted his post in the one right above yours. I've found 0.2 - 0.3 is pretty common.

COVID-19
Relativity came up n the early days of the pandemic. How bad is it compared to the common flu for example. The media still can't stop using death as the best measure though. Like when you read about a horrible accident and "they survived" implies that everything is okay. https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/18/health/covid-19-deaths-us-250k-trnd/index.html

COVID-19
Lots of irony in this story. "diligence and dedication" but no common sense. The old guys sticking together. Just be tougher than the virus. Kick it to the curb. Grassley is 87 and McConnell is 78. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/2020/11/18/chuck-grassley-coronavirus-covid-19-diagnosis-symptom-free/6339013002/ Grassley has not said where he believes he was exposed to the virus. He was most recently in the Senate on Monday, where he made remarks on the floor without a mask on and spoke with colleagues while wearing a mask. He also attended a meeting with Senate Republican leadership on Monday, which includes Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell addressed Grassley's diagnosis in remarks on the Senate floor Wednesday morning. He praised Grassley for setting the Senate record of 27 years without missing a single Senate vote and wished him well. "This show of diligence and dedication is remarkable by any measure. But because of who Sen. Grassley is, it hasn’t seemed remarkable at all," McConnell said of Grassley's record voting streak. "That incredible commitment to serving Iowans and working around the clock is just who our colleague is. That devotion is just his daily routine."

COVID-19
Here's another wedding story for sports fans (soccer/football). A national super star with all of the best testing and education available lets down a whole nation just by being dumb and selfish. But he is just a football player, not a rocket scientist. It must be the invisibility of the virus. Out of sight, out of mind. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8960067/Mo-Salah-slammed-ex-Egypt-striker-Mido-neglect-attending-brothers-wedding.html
