New 350Z - old 240Z story !
The way that I look at it, the world has changed...no-one bar ppl like us really want a 'real' sports car...my brother has a 97' Supra TT, its bloody fast (320hp at the wheels!), but its got climate control, big stereo, big heavy(!) wheels, cruise control, electric mirror, seats, windows, heated seats and mirrors (to defog them) etc etc...so its a luxury car with nice suspension and a f'ing powerful engine!! But 1 look at my Z, lightweight, no power steering, no air conditioning and realise what I love...don't get me wrong, I like to be comfortable (I'm gonna retrim the interior in leather), but there is no way that I'm gonna put a huge subwoofer in the car and rice it up!! I like it the way that it is, albeit with an interior! I like the car for the car and a few nicities...as opposed to a moving theater! Besides, you can't hear his muffled turbo engine, but if you jump in the Z, you can hear everything (especially the intake roar, gotta love it!!! In summary, I think the 350z is a fast Magna...with Audi TT styling, nice sure, but not a real drivers car...by any stretch of the imagination! My 1/50th of $1 Cheers ppl!!

Screen Names - Where Do They Come From?
Leeroy...my usual nickname, I actually got it whilst I was managing the spare parts department at a Yamaha Dealership. I used to have a brand new TTR-250 Enduro motocrosser...3rd love of my life (Z and the missus come first)...anyway, a woman pulled out of a sidestreet and hit me whilst I was going through the intersection...I flew straight over her bonnet, missed an oncoming bus (THANKFULLY!!), and hit brand new tarmac...tore the right thigh muscle in half, broke a couple of fingers, got pretty serous abrasions to my legs and stomach, but I always wear a helmet and body armour, so I would most likely be dead now if it wasn't for them(!). BTW, whilst I was bleeding and in shock on the ground, and she KNOWING FULL WELL that it was her fault, came over to me and told me that I was a young hooligan!!!!!!! Anyway, cut an already long story short, the workshop manager came and picked up my bike (bent to 45 degrees!), and I went to hospital...when I came back to work, I got the title 'bad leeroy brown', don't get me wrong, I'm anglo saxon (read: white), but it was the coolest nickname that I ever had!!! So Leeroy stuck... So yeah, any other stories (fit to hear*S*)...

Advice is something that is best taken in pieces...disect what is important and relevant, and store the rest in case it becomes important and relevant later...and then there is our advice!!:classic: But seriously...EScanlon is dead right and offers some great advice, because that is what it is like working in a job you come to hate...you may like it in the beginning but soon enough your mind wanders and your body deteriorates; either that or you come to just hate the job! But serious...don't jump headlong into anything!!! Did you know, that 200,000 ppl in New York have psychology degrees, and yet most of them work in cafes, department stores etc because there isn't any work!!! So really think, and make sure that you know what you want to do first, and see if what you want to do provides good money, good working conditions and most importantly, that the field you want to work in has plenty of employment available, and where you want to live!! Listen to the guys here, especially EScanlon, and I agree that to excel is the greatest thing you could do because it proves that we actually know something!! Best of luck in whatever path in life you choose to take. Cheers ppl!! PS If you do excel, and become wealthy, you better have a 10 car Z garage so we know that they're going to a good home!!! PPS Same goes for me with the shares...:classic:

Congrats on even thinking about doing something like that!! I myself have just completed 2 years of full time work after year 12, and I've just returned to study...I'll tell you what, and this is from my personal experience (though not overly thorough)...I left school unsure of what to do, I've always loved cars, motorbikes and computers, my whole life and I decided to see how much I could make without a tertiary degree...I didn't make too bad money, but I was working for 54 hours a week driving a 5 tonne truck...no prob, I'm only 20, but can you imagine doing that your whole life? Sure I had great fun buying stuff for my fiance, house stuff, and of course a 260Z and a brand new Yamaha!! But still, even with the money I realised that the work would keep me interested for about 5 minutes, and after a while you just tune out of life and it flies by, but when I'm doing something that I love, it goes a whole lot slower and I tend to enjoy it a whole lot more... The point is, do what you wanna do, and wait for the right time...but not too long...I've had mates who've done the same thing and not want to go back, and they'll suffer...they may make good (ok) money, but in ten years they'll look back and wonder... Best of luck, let us all know how you get on!! Cheers pll!!

Here's a little something for all you F1 fans....and Carl S.
Hey guys, Man I went along for qualifying today...and it was mad fun!! Too be honest thought the biggest drawcard for the day was beauty of a Fairlady 2000 that I saw in the Shannons Classic car area!! I got a couple of piccies, but my camera software is a bit forked now, so I'll post them ASAP...shame you guys over in the USA don't get classy racing like this!!! Gotta say it, rally is my fave, but F1...nothing comes close (and that includes indycar!!!).. Take care ppl! Cheers!

OK...not hoping to go over a very well worn post topic...
Thats the exact one...good work, I was wondering...oh well, first question, since I have never fitted it, does it fit up to the standard Z mounts? Second, if it does, where can I get the horn pad from? Thanks guys, I was wondering why I had never seen it on a Z before! Cheers ppl!

OK...not hoping to go over a very well worn post topic...
OK...I have a steering wheel, it is an original...I have been restoring it (polishing, restaining and laquering the rim), but I NEED a hrnpad...now I have a 260 2+2, and the steering wheel looks very different to others that I have seen! It has a polished steel set of bi-tri spoke (3 spokes, but each one is made of two thin ones with a horn button in between each of the three sets...ok, if you can understand what i mean, could you aid me in finding a kit? I have read that they're around $80, is that true of my wheel? Thanks guys...haven't had to worry about it since I have an aftermarket wheel, but I want the original in (it looks way classier!). Cheers ppl!

need help keeping positive attitude
Just think about this... Whilst ppl swimming around the 60-65 mark are planning trips tom waste their money in vegas, you're pulling apart and putting together one of the finest cars ever built...and on top of that, you'll get to drive around in it once its done!!!! Just think...you rockin' up in a Z, whilst everyone else is driving corollas!!! Life is suddenly so bright, ain't it!! PS Don't worry bout the car, it'll bounce back, my brother (on a motorbike) went off a 40ft cliff into a rock quarry 8 years ago, now because of his outlook hes walking, and it just so happens that he drives a Twin Turbo 97' Supra!! (Still pisses him off when ppl make offers on my car, whilst his is sitting right next to mine though!!! No bull!!!!!).

new owner of a 260 2+2
Oh! BTW...the 260z engine in aussie spec has about 101kW (modern power figure), and yes, in manual form the 2+2 does a 9-10sec 0-100, in auto that blow out to 12secs. So there! Hope that helps! Cheers (again) ppl!

new owner of a 260 2+2
G'day noob, good to see that you picked THE right car to own and drive!! Alfadog would be right...ppl's opinion of a 260 2+2 auto is fairly low, what with the higher profile of manuals and then the 2 seater 260's and 240's. But don't worry, most of them just look down on other that didn't pay as much for their car as you did!! I actually own a 260 2+2 76', though it is a 5spd...I can't handle autos, they just wizz me off...but that me...I have driven an auto...very cruisy and basically unbreakable...and hey! Look on the very bright side, if you ever need to give a couple of midgets a lift, you have the space (plus the 2+2 is a more 'drifty' car, what with the longer wheelbase!!)...but anyway, all Z's are to be appreciated as the pure blood original 6cyl Jap sports, just look at the competition at the time of their original release (re: NOTHING!), and its then you realise that whether you're driving an original 240 Fairlady (refer to Alan for that!! Bloody nice car!!!!)....or a 300zx (or 350 now i 'spose), or anything in between (that where most come in) be assured that were here to help, appreciate and sometimes slap you should you stray from the righteous path that is the Z cars domain!! Anyway, enough bollocks, good luck on the restoration and get back to us soon! Cheers ppl!

Rebuilds and things...
Hi guys...been away for a while.... Just wondering...my Z is running fine (what else is to be expected of the L-series), but the camchain is clacking a little so I've decided to get the top end rebuilt whilst I'm there...to be sure, to be sure....If anyone could tell me of someone in melbourne who could do the rebuild well, and for a good price...obviously....other than Z spares (Lindsay is always busy, I'd be in a long line!!). Also, a good place to get my suspension done...I have the regulars for my daily that I use, but the Z is a bit special...so no ordinary place will do(!)...Any suggestions guys? Thanks and happy driving everyone!!!

Midnight Snacks
If you can be shagged... Boil a hotdog...then cut it in 9 pieces (round, not like chips)...then put it on a piece of bread, cover with cheese, tomato sauce, chilli sauce (or anything that you think would taste good...bacon is a good un!)...then grill!!!!!!! Trust me, its the bizz! I seriously need a life....oh well, at least I have the car!

Horse Power Rating
Are you sure that the car has 575nm at 90km? That seems a bit much for only 126hp....get back, cause if it is then he should be putting that engine into a tractor!!!:classic:

I HAVE to have these wheels...
All I can say is this...never mind the fact that you like them...who is the demented, chrysler neon/new VW beetle crazed person who conceived of the idea to create these scary pieces of rolling stock!!!!

240z/sr20det swap
Engine kinda sounds like a truck, but is very reliable, easy to squeeze power out of, plentiful, cheap and most importantly a nissan! Fit it as far back in your engine bay as possible for good weight dist., you will lose a little bit of weight, but not like 200kgs or anything..and I have seen one with an SR fitted...didn't sound as good as an L6, but went hard, was reliable and good on cold start too! Good luck man, let us see the results!:classic:

how loud?
OK...to start out I actually used to be the spare parts man at yamaha dealership, so of course there is a bit of a bias...anyway...as for harley davidsons unique sound, it is also attributed to the single conrod twin cylinder design. And I have to say, I would rather have an XV1600 yammie cruiser than a harley. Reliable as, beautiful to ride, and if you've ever heard one with longshot exhausts on it...GOD DAMN!!! That is one of the best sounds known to man (other than an L6 screaming its preverbial off!). And if u really want to wet your pants, ride one of the brand new R1's. Around 170 kgs with 162hp! 0-100 in 2 secs!!!! I am dead serious when I say that not only are those bikes fast, but downright scary!!! Anyone who tells you that they can push it hard well/safely is pulling it. Unless you're Colin Edwards, then wizz off!!! F#$@%^ unbelieveable. No two ways about it. Same with the Suzuki GSX-R, R1 is better but only by an immeasurable amount. Now I dare you, go and scare yourself into buying a camry and being done with it!!!:classic:

body part removal
Hey man...bout the drip rail moulding...best way to get it off is to push down gently on the inside top and sort of pull..it comes off in a quarter circle kind of way....just pull gently and press on the inside top..should take about 3 seconds a side!! Good luck on the respray...doin one myself right now!:classic:

Speaking about bad Z's (I know its hard to imagine a bad z, but...)
I know the one that you're talking about, but yeah, did the cow really take it to the Z, or did he spin? Interesting...anyway, I think the ute is kinda a good way to salvage the front, but the 4x4's are Z's that have been hacked apart and put on a heap of crap. Anyway...enough of my crap...hang on, that sentance added more crap...and so did that one...uhhh..... :classic:

71 Japan GrandPrix (kenji tohira) replica
Gotta say, if you do go ahead and decide to transform your car into a jap street racer, send the pics 2 me!!! I'm thinking of making mine look very le mans-ish (its a 2+2, but I think that the long look with a gnose, flares, a wing and graphics will look cool [it'll also be very sporty + cruisy! All may kick me in the nuts now if they so desire....])...I think yours will look very drifter-ish (read: COOL, insane and yet sometimes purposeful). Plz send me pics if it all goes ahead!
