Good deal for $160 Archie! Where abouts did u get it from? Look like a nice piece of kit (no pun intended), did it fit up easy? Cheers ppl! PS Pass on the details to me for that piece archie, it would be much appreciated!
  2. I am actually in the same boat as I am replacing my shocks and getting some new urethane bushes... Now I've been to pedders and datrally....Pedders want to charge me $390 fitted for a new set of rear Monroe shocks and datrally want to charge me $800 for a fitted set of Konis Koni rocks but is high maintenance, and Monroe are good but are they Z good?)! Now I'm not looking at racing, and I know how good Konis are, but I can't justify the price because it a cruiser/classy/classic/weekend punter...I don't want to thrash the $^!# out of it, so 120mph around a 90 degree bend shocks aren't required... I've got king springs fitted all round to lower the Z also, but I was wondering what would be the best road only use shocks for the Z...theres alot I want to do and spending $3500 on shocks and a new setup for racing would be nice (though totally unnecessary), but I want to do other things and keep the car fairly standard...any suggestions and prices? Cheers ppl!
  3. Too funny....heh heh, its funny cause its true!!! Only could us Aussies come up with something sexually based to use in a wartime chat forum!!! Cheers ppl, may british intelligence keep getting their tips from Rachel Hunter, and keep up the good work!!
  4. So so so true! I have to say, thats a really nice little poem. I know what you mean there, cause I'm going through all that right now with my family as I've proposed to my 4 year GF...all fun and games! But yeah...got to appreciate your family a whole lot more I think. Cheers ppl!
  5. Appreciate that...didn't know what the hell was the matter there, I'm going to sally forth and kick bosch square in the nuts for that one!!! Cheers SJ! Cheers ppl!
  6. Ok... I have a 280zx electronic dizzy fitted to the L26 (carbed)...now, I went to get a new coil, but after reading the bosch catalogue for the part no....being that it now has elec. ignition I was going to use a coil without a ballast resistor, but I read in the bosch coil catalogue that I should use a coil with one...is it just me, or shouldn't I use a coil without one? Is the 280zx dizzy incapable of it, is bosch stupid or am I mad?! I have always KNOWN the HEI ignition has no need for a low voltage output due to the fact that there are no points to fry, so whats going on? Cheers ppl!!:stupid:

I'd have to say that I agree with alfadog...the Z is much less forgiving, but so, so, so much more fun! Just don't brown your pants up too much when you find out that replacing things is a very regular occurence! Don't get me wrong, these cars will go, and go, and go, and go...and then some! Its just everything apart from the engine that will give you grief!! A more modern car will be more comfy, have more mod cons etc etc but it will be harder to tune, work on, repair and have fun with than a Z! If it was me, I'd get the Z anyday (I'm only 20, so I feel the pain of insurance!)...but thats me...if you love working on a beautiful classic car and don't cringe to much when you see repair or OEM parts bills, then get the Z...on the other hand if all you really want to do is drive your mates around and not worry bout playing with your car very much, go the Plasti-mobile option. DOn't get me wrong, I have a Honda Civic 97' as well which the fiance and I use to get around in alot of the time, but the Z is my FUN car...I have always wanted one, and it ain't goin anywhere now that I have one! (If you want to carry round some mates, get a 2+2...they're damn fun, cruisier and also tend to go for less [the part I like!]). Cheers newb, and best of luck! Cheers ppl!:classic:
  8. Fair enough...but..yeah.....okay.... Cheers ppl!
  9. Tender subject...I really don't want to keep going over this subject but really...any president before Bush would have done basically the same thing sooner or later...I'm glad sooner! I don't like war, but something had to be done. Hard subject, too much just to write down...good airbrushing though! Cheers bambi! Cheers ppl!
  10. Okay...maybe one for the unique secion as ozzy so well put it! Cheers ppl!
  11. I never thought a Z could be ugly...REALLY! Now, I know(!) I have been very mistaken!! Cheers ppl!
  12. Getting old there pops! Oh well, at least you have your Z and your insurance bill to remind you of your still lingering youth!!! Cheers, and have a bloody good birthday! Cheers ppl!
  13. Not the Z..no NOT THE Z!!! Oh well...just another project that you'll have to work on when you finish uni! I'm also having the same trouble, though I'm working casual almost 30 hours a week, so my finances are fairly ok...still though...full time uni, work and a 1 hour one way travel to uni five days a week (read, 10 hours to and from school) are pretty much ruling out fuel consuming mods (damn, no cam!!!)... I sympathise, but still...don't!!! BTW...I restored the 240k wheel, and it looks wicked! I think I'll put it on this week! Cheers ppl!

  17. GET RID OF THE ORIGINAL EXHAUST!!! It is very restrictive, and I can guarantee you a 20% (minimum) increase in power if you fit a 3" mandrel bent (if your engine is in good order and your turbo is fine). Here are some performance pointers: 1 Exhaust (most power getting and good sounding!) 2 Cold air intake with a high flow air filter (K&N are good (bit expensive though) and have a 1 million mile warranty!) 3 Boost controller/bleed valve (a bleed valve is cheap and will do the job, but a boost controller is very accurate, has constant data logging and can give you a constant display!). 4 Intercooler (big, mounted out front in the open, cool air and with a good flow rate (cheap ones tend to be low flow even for their size, although an EVO 3 Lancer core is very good, and can be bought fairly cheap!) 5 Rebuild turbo! (do this for reliablility and to make sure that its all good and well, also makes sure that your power increases aren't hampered by a lack of turbo efficiency!) Thats about it for easy mods, though they will garner you alot of power (just don't put the boost beyond what it is now without an intercooler, TRUST ME!!! Once you have the intercooler though, and you have the turbo rebuilt put it up to 15psi (1 bar) and feel the power!) Good luck, let us know how you get on!! Cheers ppl!
  18. With respect to exhaust sizing on NA engines, tuned to perfection is the way that I would describe it. Different ppl will tell you different things but the fact remains: Bigger = top end, smaller = bottom end. Too small, it'll choke the engine, too big and it will run like an absolute pig with no manners and a huge performance decrease. Turbos thoughare much different...for more low end and top end go for the biggest exhaust that you possibly can, with the least bends and preferably Mandrel bent (so that the bends are exactly the same size as the straight sections!)...3" is about standard for a 2 litre-3 litre capacity path (ie a 4ltr twin turbo would run 2 3" exhausts (1 for every 2 litres)...so 3" is a good size for your standard jap turbo car. If you put a 3"on a L24-26 NA, then you would lose heaps of power...and if you are going to use a turbo engine, get a high flow cat that will match the exhaust diameter (its usually the weakest point) because to be honest, most high flow cat's nowadays run nearly as good as an open pipe (ie maybe 2-3% decrease in power) and it will keep you out of trouble with the EPA and keep you in the good books with the environment!! Good luck! Cheers ppl!:classic:
  19. Hooray for the Z! Funnily enough, my mate in his ford falcon stationwagon said he would kick my arse (in the 2+2)..I told him otherwise, because although he has an engine 1.5 litres bigger, doesn't mean my 5 speed and L26 would get beaten...anyway, I kicked his arse, scared the $^!# out of my when I saw blue and red ahead and found out that they were just checking a possible burglary...I was 4 lengths ahead and doing 120km!!! Scary $^!#! Cheers ppl, love you all!!

If you have chassis damage, does anyone know a good place in Melbourne that could straighten it? I mean undercarriage rails, not in the engine bay and not under the battery... Thanks for any help you can offer guys! Cheers ppl!
