  1. Looks like more than one person failed Hooked on Phonics. I'm feeling better about my New Mexico public education every day!

Maybe theres a nostalgic heros car show going on, or even a drift event.

It's been too long since I've been over it but yeah, it's US12. I have a blast driving through Yellowstone and another favorite is the East side highway at Flathead. I can retire in 5-7 years and I'll be returning for good.

US11 from Lolo Montana to Lewiston Idaho, 110 miles of curves going over Lolo pass. Going to the Sun Road in Glacier Nat'l Park is awesome too.

There's a pretty good story on Zcar.com about a guy who drove a 240 cross country with his son. TomoHawk, why don't you lead off with a story?
  8. The deciding factor will ultimately be your ability to embrace the All Blacks rugby team...hands down!!!!

Ken Gushi is a great driver, he should win the drift portion of the competition. He was beating the steering wheel apart because he ran out of power, I'm curious what the mods are going to be to the cars to see if it'll make the Z more competitive.
  10. I took a two week vavcation to the south island a couple of years ago and it was magnificent. Maybe a trip down to see what it's like to decide whether or not you would want to move their permanently? I've got to believe that at some point too you would have to apply for citizenship in order to be able to to own a house or get into the social medicine system. You may also be able to take as many of your Zs as you can afford to ship with you, who knows. It seemed to me that things were more expensive there though. Gas was high compared to the States, about twice what we pay here, cigarettes and booze too, food only a little so. What was really nice was that there seemed to be no crime or very little by comparison in populated places. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/
  11. They're way out of my price league but if you were looking to get a set and maybe save some money in the process some folks over at HybridZ are trying to get a group buy together. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119260&highlight=watanabe

Bought a 260 a year after I graduated HS and my first 240 when I graduated college. Going on my 20th year of Z ownership, can't imagine not having a 240.
  15. until

SEZshootout in Reynolds GA 3 hours south of Atlanta. All kinds of 1st-2nd generation Zs modified and stock running the 1/4 mile as fast as they can. Same weekend as Znationals in Atlanta and Talladega. http://members.freewebs.com/sponsor.jsp?next=http://www.freewebs.com/sezshootout/
  16. Great site with alot of potential. I'll have to check out the Celica and RX-7 websites to see if there's any interest there. What an awesome article on the Top Secret classic Celica roo, Smokey Nagata is a nutcase you can't help but love.

It looks great in the pictures...anyone seen this car before? If I get promoted I'm planning on dropping $10-12K into either the Z I've got or maybe into one in better condition with the desired end product being not too different from this one. If I don't you can guess the rest http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Datsun-240Z_W0QQitemZ220078976339QQihZ012QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting
  18. The 280 is a great car for the chassis, rear diff and optional 5-speed. If I wasn't purist about my 240, I'd like a 280 that I could put a more modern EFI setup and maybe even a turbo. Take the bumpers off and you've got a real screamer!

The first Z I bought in '86 had a set of Strombergs on it. I ran them for 3 years until I got a set of dual Webers.Seemed okay for daily driving but that's about it.

Get ready to spend some money and time then, 'cause to get a car to the quality of Austin Hoke's will take copious amounts of both.

How much money and time are you willing to put into it? If you just want to get it to run then a battery and a fillup plus a fuel filter change might be the ticket but beyond that it what do you want to do with the car?

Yeah, you guys will get it a few hours before we do...knockback a cold beverage since it's summer down there and leave some Z car parts in Santa's bag for the rest of us poor schlubs.
