Deaf Deer?

How many of you have had experience with, or own one? I'm in the suburbs of northern Ohio, where there are so many deer, sometimes they roam city streets like gangs! Even with the annual hunting seasons to thin out the heards, you still see them sometimes on wooded lots or wooded areas in the park system. My mom's roses have all been decapitated. I erwmemner seeing deer whistles all thewtime in the J.C. Whitney catalogs, so I Googled (verb) for some "deer whistle" devices, and found a place that sells electronic ones (http://www.xp3hornet.com/), and a passive one (http://www.deerwhistle.com) I prefer the passive type, since I'd rather not add any more electrical stuff to the Z's wiring :tapemouth so i'd probably mount the passive one to the underside of the front bumper, if possible, with some of the rare-earth magnets i have, it'll go on & come off easily (sort of). thx and w

I've never seen an orginal or restored 280Z from the back at night, so I don't know which areas light up for the running lights, turn signal or brake. Can omebody 'enlighten' me? thx

You can buy an LED substitute for the incandescent bulb in a Maglight or Mini Maglight. From using my Faraday flashlight, I'll bet that the LEDs are pretty bright and focused and you could probably leave the light on all night and still have enough battery left for the next night.

It's not really a grommet. Those you can probably get from a hardware or electronics catalog. It's a grommet with a rubber elbow. Grommet was the only word I can think of.

Except for the ability to rev the engine while you let out the clutch for an awesome holeshot, the newer automatics are just as goos as any manual-shift tranny. You can even convert it to full-manual (at least for Chevys/Fords/Mopars). Micheal Schumacher's F1 car has an auto trans! ( with a manual shift setup). And with an auto, you don't have the annoyance of having to constantly shift, like when you got a lady in with you, or on long trip, or in traffic. No clutch to wear out during gridlock, either. After I get all the other stuff fixed or done on my car, I'm going to put in a Maxima 4 spd O/D auto, maybe with a manual valve body. JMO...

Mine crumbled away recently. Can you get these anywhere? I looked in the BD and MSA catalogs, but haven't called them yet. I'm afraid that if I drive in the rain, the pressure in the wheelwells will spray water onto whatever is next to the hole, like the alternator or AFM. thx.

Why would you want a newer model? The newest ones need all the electronic stuff to get it to work, but those also have the advantage of overdrive. Your best bet would be to just get one of the same kind with the least mileage. The one in your car is probably the exact same as other years.

He and others are working on LED replacements for the outside lights, and for the guages. The problem with LEDs is that they are too focused, and would make better lamps for a flashlight than something to illuminate a wide area like the guage faces or the area under the map light. You'd need a row or two of closely-spaced LEDS for something like the map light.

You'd need about 30 of them to light up the area under the lamp. Ifthe wiring was up to par, it would be bright. But since I've never seen a primo example, I don't know how bright

I tried some of the anti-squeal compound, and it is working for now. How lond does the liquid stuff (from a tube applicator) last? I also saw spray-on stuff, what is that like? From the Haynes book, the anti-squeal shims in the pictures look like a very thin paper-like material, is that what it's made of? I'm wondering because another person here used cloth-backed duct tape, but it didn't last more than several years. thx

Be careful you don't confuse Patriotism with Nationalism, as most people do. There's a BIG difference. Your flag-burning attitude is the same as for people who are Christians, and yet the U.S. Gubmint won't let them be one ( i.e. displaying Christian symbols like a nativity scene during Christmas). I thought we were allowed religious freedom here? So why is it wrong to show you be lieve in God, just like it says on the money? The separation of Church & State GUARANTEES everyone the opportunity to select and practive their (Christian) faith, and the gubmint has NO right to say you can't! P.C. stands for Personal Computer, and I will defend ones's right to say "Merry Christmas" or have their nativity scene in this country. tyvm

Maybe it is "kinda" like street races. Before a race, the two racers/teams talk or negotiate any offset in starts, then race, and more negotiating. This is what the show is about. Usually one guy has a big advantage, like nitrous or a trurbo, compated to the other car, without. Maybe one car will have a problem, giving the other an advantage. So in all "fairness," the negotiating is allowed ( and takes up time!) and there's your drama; the one ca's advantage, some breakdowns, negotiating, and 3 18 second races. Without all the "extra stuff" the whole show would last (3x20 seconds) or 1 minute! Obviously, the HybridZ turbo-V8 Z has a perfect day, unless they depended on the car's clock to get time places on time.
