3.5 Altima
Sorry Stephen wasn't refering to you as a naysayer

3.5 Altima
where have all you naysayers been for the last twenty years? So what if they all look the same. did you know that while looking at an s130 i noticed huh!, it has the same mirrors as my maxima and while I'm looking I also notice that the seats are almost identical as well. Same style of fabric, color combos. I mean all the major American auto manufacturers have been doing it for decades, sure twenty years ago the outsides may have been different, but I sure didn't hear anyone complain that they could get the same drivetrain package whether you were buying a camaro or a vette. Same with Ford and Mopar. So Sailor Bob I hear your words of wisdom and feel that they are sound. If those are the qualities you feel you need, you go and get that Altima and if it is not what you want don't get it. I would love to get my wife one of those to replace her, and forgive me here, aging Honda, I know, I know. She bought it not me, but anyway you know if your a car guy you look at everything that's on the road and the 3.5 Altima is the one that always catches my eye. And in response to Reddog, Sailor already mentioned the four doors as a plus. And also if you have followed Sailor's post of the past if he wanted the 350z he would have said that as well. I think he's looking for a mom and pop car. Great choice Bob.

Front Main Seal replace
I just did one on a l24 maxima, DO pull the rad. You can use a steering wheel puller for the damper just get bolts at hardware store with big fender washers. When it came time to break damper bolt loose, because I don't have air, I positioned breaker bar against frame rail and using the starter, spun the engine. Broke right loose. DO change timing kit, guides and tensioner etc., and oil pump. You will be glad you did. I guess I got lucky and didn't break any bolts, but have on other applications. I mean if your in there might as well do it, right?

dash restoration???
I would go full pro resto. For cost however checkout BD240Z's post on dash repair. That's where my money is going to go. If his dash turned out that good after being so bad, mine should turn out fab!

I gotta go with Matt on that one to Carl. My 76's name is Dianna because she is my princess. I already gave the title of Queen to my wife 7 years ago this Sept. As for Darbji, would love to know how to pronounce that, there's nothing wrong with a little girl on girl love in the world. You just keep on truckin!

New to me
Lucky score man. looks great!

what are the characteristics of a cheap clutch??
A bad throwout bearing wouldn't make noise in neutral. Those things only make noise if they're bad when you push in the clutch. My guess is you got the wrong PP for your collar and like JimmyZ said, the Tbearing is probably riding slighty on the PP allowing the clutch to slip. If you can't the tires to squeek even by dumping clutch it's slipping.

The term Inland Empire also refers to the eastern region of Washington State. It also encompasses north Idaho and western Montana.

Nothing special about the 350z?
I guess you either like it or you don't, just don't bug on me if I do.

Nothing special about the 350z?
My brother is not a success. Got himself killed being stupid but I still love him. Success for Nissan does not matter to me. I love all Z's even the S31 and the the early 300's, Z31? Correct me if I'm wrong on that. What I'm saying is all these Z owners with their 71's and 2 240's sometimes make me feel like my 76 280 is a lesser vehicle. Reminds me of some Porsche owners, as if my z is not good enough for them. AT least Porsche owners don't care if it's a 356a or Carrera GT, they love them all, like I do with Z's. I even love the snooty guys 71's and 2's and even the Hybrids, so what does it matter if Nissan is successful with the automotive world with the 350, they did all right with me.

Nothing special about the 350z?
I would love to have a 350z. After all it is the newest model in one of the coolest lineups in automotive history. Sure the Z's weren't as refined as the Porsche or have the racing heritage of Ferrari or that ground shredding power of the american muscle cars, and probably never will. That doesn't stop all of the thousands of us who are Z sick and don't want to be cured. When I read all of the negative comments about the 350 I take them in stride, but it does hurt a little to hear it from family about a member of the family. To me it doesn't have anything to do with nostalgia. As far as I'm concerned only four manufacturers have got it right anyway. Volkswagon with their Beetle, BMW with the Mini, Ford with the Mustang and the GT and finally Nissan with the 350z. The succes of these models in general was the commitment to the original models that inspired these remakes and the 350 definitely hit all the marks. Every since I saw my first S30 I have lusted after them with all kinds if fanciful ideas of what kind of "supercar" they were and when I finally got the chance of living the dream I found out I was correct about their "superness", but on a completely different level than I had imagined. These were not refined sports cars like a Porsche or Ferrari. They were not the power houses like every muscle car I have built over the years. My 280 is uncomfortable to drive, the wheel shakes, the brakes even though they are new aren't that awe inspiring. It surely won't be inducing any whiplash during acceleration and the paint although gorgeous from ten feet away is horrible, but I am in love with it. I would not trade for a Porsche or a Mustang (Ford Nut Here:) ) or even a 350z, but I know if I could buy one I would love it just as much. So remember brothers and sisters of the Datsun Z family, It was our love of the S30 that brought the 350 about anyway, so that kinda makes us all parents and I for one am very, very proud of my youngest child.
