  1. What Moonpup said. No amount of alcohol is going to be able to burn that image out of my head now. Thanks for bringing back that painful memory.

Same scheme on mine just base blue w/ white stripes.
  3. To go bad in 4k it had to be adjusted to grind!
  4. Did one 20 years ago on my last Z and quite honestly don't remember much of it (beer, kids, beer, job, beer, wife and beer). But from the memory I do have, the $500 isn't a bad price to replace the throw out bearing, pressure plate, clutch and adjust it. But as for the budget minded, I do remember the procedure is outlined in the Nissan service manual. That is what I used to do mine back in the 80's. I'd try looking there and also at a Chilton's book on the Z.

I was thinking Michael Jackson and Bubbles as Spritle and Chim Chim. Frankie Muniz (sp) as Speed Ted Danson as Pops Hayden Christensen as Racer X Natalie Portman as Trixie Clive Owen as Sparky Dana Delaney as Mrs. Racer

All great suggestions, but I just opted to pay someone to paint mine. No muss, no fuss.
  7. Sblake, Arne said he goes overboard on things he likes. I was hoping he would like my wife as well and occupy her time. Thus giving me time to play with my car, go golfing, drink beer etcetera.
  8. Wanna meet my wife? !!!

Actually the bubble only came out when it was raining or the car went under water. :beard:
  10. Is there anything you don't know Arne? Thanks man! Don't go anywhere!

As for painting, I used High Heat Engine Enamel on my SUs and they came out nice. They have several types of finishes. So if you wanted chrome or if you just want to clean them up, you could do them in silver. The silver is close to the original color, but just a little brighter. That's the route I went. As for a filler...eeeeeewwww. Don't know there. Maybe some of that liquid metal stuff they sell at Autozone and Advanced Auto parts. I would think the rough spot there would be getting it smooth. My $00.02

Answered my question Arne. I'm sporting the 14x7 aluminium slots and was going back and forth on sizes. Suspension is stock (right now) and I want a good performing tire that gives a decent ride as well. I keep going back to the 195 70 R14s and your rec' just confirmed that. Thanks-E

What do I think? What the hell was that girl eating to have something like that pop out of her asre?

Wheel wells, lower rocker panels, frame rails and as noted above, the floors (check under the seat!) were the problem rust areas on those. Carbs is another feature to look at as well. The SU's are pretty popular, but you have to stay on them and make sure they are adjusted properly or it's a big problem. You can probably also count on the dash being cracked unless it has already been replaced or covered. Make sure you check on the lights as well. My first Z was a 73. HLS30125656. Is it bad I still remember that VIN even though the car has been gone almost 20 years? I have issues!

UPDATE: Sorry it took so long to get back to this, but I wanted to let you guys know you are freakin' geniuses! It was the rear ground by the gas tank. Thanks for all the advice. I finally was able to play with the car after being delegated to being; mom, dad, nurse, nanny, daycare worker, cook, psycologist, maid, butler and housekeeper for the last 2 weeks. Now leave me the "blank" alone family and let me play with my Z!

A really cold refrigerator full of beer is a handy item to have around as well after having the Z wizz you off for a couple of hours!

Yes the 40's use metric tools. As for the 80's I do not know, never owned one.
  22. 12.5K and reserve isn't hit yet. Must be wanting some serious dead presidents for that Z.
  23. Ghosts hate liquor. Drink lots, it helps with my demons!

Actually it's my 3rd girl. Thanks for all the warm comments. Mary is fine, can't say the same for mom. Fluid levels are off, causing the liver to go into overdrive she's had a chronic headache and her blood pressure is through the roof. They seem to think it is Preeclampsia. Just popped home to let the dogs out and had a chance to look under the Z. Looks like there is a wire or wires loose by the gas tank on the right side, so hopefully that's it and I can get to it in a few days. They've said, best case that my wife might be able to go home tuesday evening if the blood work comes back ok and the magnesium brings down her blood pressure. All these problems kinda make my car issues look pretty small. Again, thanks to all and I gotta get back to the hospital. Happy Fathers Day to all of the daddies! I'll be spending mine in a hard assed chair with no beer, Z, football, golf, Xbox, racing or baseball. Ahhhhh the joys of marriage and parenthood.

I will. After I started this post, my wife went into labor and gave birth to our daughter Mary Alyson Griffin.
