  1. Hi all, After an emotional weekend, here is what I have decided to do. Yesterday Sam and I went to a local parts store and picked up a new heat/cold control for the lines in the motor. Now the AC is working perfect, the part sent with the kit even tho new was non functional. Now what to do? I thought back when I first posed the AC subject, and remembered a lot of you were saying to just go with the full new unit. Saying that if I could gather the 40 year old parts and make up a workable unit, but who is to say if they would work for me? Or if so, how long would they work before dying. Just go for the new. About the disfigured area where the control slider unit lives, I told Sam that it had to go. We will re install the slider control, with it being a facade. It will be non functioning, but keep the normal appearance to her. There was a small bracket included in the parts sent with the AC unit to attach those 2 twist knobs for fan and cool control. Sam will put it in an area which will be discreet, and still be handy. Along with the single pull knob that will control the defroster. I'll share photos of the finished console and the new control bracket. As to the radio not fitting, I will just search and find one that will fit now. Sending huge thank you's to all who have made suggestions for this endeavor. I could not have made it without your support. I'm praying this will have the best outcome for me. Jai
  2. I used the ABS glue trick to repair my plastic panels before the colour change with SEM. After the ABS glue had hardened I applied two coats of adhesion promoter and four of colour.
  3. I know there is very limited space there. I dealt with that area a couple of years ago... Site, I use denatured alcohol on my fingers when working with silicone. It works great too...
  4. I wouldn't use plumbers putty! I would use a sealant of some kind. If it's in a caulk tube you can put a short piece of fuel line on the end of the caulk tube so you can get the material in place.
  5. One of my memorable Gene Wilder scenes is the one with Madeline Kahn in Young Frankenstein. I was young and it made me feel funny. Schwing. Edit - it might have been Blazing Saddles...
  6. The first minute of the film was Grannyknot's garage moments ago
  7. Thank you for your input sir. I have no wish to argue with you or anyone else. My intention was/is to try and make these as I want a couple of sets for my car and I have seen over the years where others have desired them as well. Being that I have a background in high end automotive restoration and I had done similar lenses over the years for other cars I thought I would try. No one else was, so I thought that I could sell a few to recoup my time and money invested in them. That is still my goal. I am by no means trying to make this a business. This is a labor of love and passion for these cars. Nothing more, nothing less. My point with you is this. What do you gain by telling me or anyone else you can't do this (or something else). Do you owe me anything? Of course not. But I did ask you and you declined which is your right. But then why keep posting that I can't/won't do it? Just go on about your business and ignore me and this thread. I have never claimed they will be exact reproductions of originals. But with the information I was provided they will be the same width, and shape of the original that I was provided a tracing of. I think they will be darn close. I do wish to thank you sir for providing me with a little extra motivation to see this through.
  8. I GOT THE S.O.B RUNNING! Matt, the MS guru is coming up in a couple days so I was neatening up the wires so I didn't look like the complete backyard hack that I am and was checking them all again for power, grounds and continuity. That's when it occurred to me that the ignition coil positive wire was getting switched power but not when the starter was turning, I hadn't connected the coil to the ignition wire, what a twit. Switched it over and it started right up and idled pretty well. The strange thing is the laptop running TunerstudioMS says "Not Connected" and it is definitely connected. But that is something Matt can figure out. At least I can say it didn't beat me. As my Dad use to say "If one monkey can do it, another monkey can do it"
  9. Humble wrote about a half-page on it with lots of detail but never gave any Bulletin numbers. Haven't found any documents. Apparently it was an actual recall with repair kits distributed to the dealers, and stickers to place under the hood when done. My 76 had the old hose routing and no sticker.
