  1. BIG NEWS... I took my sweet RedBird to a car show yesterday. Believe it or not, we won Second Place in Classics. There were only 3 Z's there, 1976 2004, 2012. They were ALL RED! And a pretty painted Nissan truck. Photos following of everything I thought you might like to see. Starting with the First Place Classic winner. Sorry I did not get the year. This car is for sale, I think he had $40,000. or maybe it was $30,000. Then starts "Me and My Z". Enjoy, and please tell me what I need to do to improve our presentation. Remember guys, we BOTH are OLD GIRLS and this is our first show. Site... A couple just for you!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA...
  2. Fired right up today. Ran it at higher rpm for 15 minutes per cam break in procedeure. I don't think the neighbors were real happy. Its a little louder than it was before. Its a little rich now. Going to drop a fuel jet size tomorrow. Also found and fixed the linkage bind I was having. Now when I let off the gas pedal, it goes instantly to idel position. No more hang up like before. This will be way more fun to drive.
  3. The July 4th weekend was very productive for getting work done on the Z. I wrapped up the restoration and paint work on my series-1 air cleaner. The full write up can be seen here -> http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/55771-series-1-air-cleaner-restoration-lots-of-pics/ With the air cleaner on and the old valve cover off I figured I would do a valve adjustment as I had noticed a little valve train noise the last time I drove the car. Sure enough, 4 valves were a bit on the loose side. All in all, a 20 minute job well done. The 2400 valve cover and new cork gasket went on followed by the decals for the air cleaner. The new paint and decals on the air cleaner really elevate the engine bay's level of cleanliness and accuracy. Overall I am very happy with the way it came out considering the condition it was in when I started. The crown jewel of the engine is the 2400 valve cover. I cleaned and polished it a little but I like the natural aged look of the aluminum. Given the state of the rest of the engine bay I think it looks right at home. The final detail to be added is the paint code decal. The car is an original 901 silver car. Since the engine bay has already been stripped and re-sprayed I wanted to add this final touch. All of the decals are very sharp and beautiful in their own way. Mike at Banzai Motorworks is the man! I know the community appreciates all of the work he does to make these small yet significant parts available. It has been very rewarding to add the last two key components that make the engine bay "more correct". Many of you already know these parts are not cheap and not easy to come by. However, with some patience and elbow grease the final result is nothing short of impressive. That is all for now!
  4. Here is the TSB Geezer was referring to,
  5. You are very welcome, glad I could pass along a problem's solution as you've discovered above. One size does not fit all.
  6. I didn't realize I was old and out of shape until I did the work on mine this past year. The exhaust re-do a week or so ago kicked my pansy a**. It has at least motivated me to get in better shape. I have a weight bench in my den.
  7. Here is a short video when the shipping company dropped it off to my place.
  8. I wish you were still active, Mr Britannica. You don't know how much information you've provided for me. Thank you!
  9. Wow! A quote from almost 8 years ago. Back when I was still active and still had my Datsuns.
  10. 1 point
