The delivery guy showed up again. Got a real large box from MSA, have to wait for the Tax receipt, but yeah, here you go. Ordered lots of rubbers, bushings, ... But most important, some parts to refresh the interior: Shortly after this delivery I got another box, from JAPAN. Freakin new driver side doorpanel. YEAH! Bought this on yahoo auctions for "only" 27000Yen or 225US$ As winter is approaching here in Europe, I decided to do a last ride for 2015 and started working:
  3. Not sure why this is so difficult for you.. Why not just buy the covers then go to a local hardware store and start grabbing screws to see what fits....? Am I missing something here or does this seem simple.? PMG
  4. Maybe a company that sells screws could help, hence we can't help you.

If the $1000 for another shell is out of your league, then the $20,000 or so to do a complete restoration is going to kill you.... Sorry son, time to put this one behind you I think. I used to hate the fact that only the old dudes drove nice old cars. Now I realize it's because the time, money and knowledge to rebuild these cars comes with age.... I wish I could have all the old cars I used to drive as a young man back. Then maybe I could restore them as I should have. Keep your dream alive, save the parts you can and wait for a better frame to come up for sale. Take your time and save your money for now. I drooled over the 280's my 'rich' friends drove in high school. Now I'm almost 50 and I can afford a nice new 370Z AND restore a 280 of my own! A dream come true but, alas, it was time that made it come true! Best of luck and thank you for sharing your dream. Hope we haven't crushed your desire to restore a Z one day!
  6. It's not that plug-n-play. If you want to go turbo you are gonna have to do some more research. You either need everything off a 280zx turbo motor. Sensors, ignition, harness, injectors, ecu, everything or you need to build a standalone system, Megasquirt, Haltech or other. The fuel maps in the 300zx ECU won't work properly for your setup...

I truly appreciate all of the "tough love" and today proved that there is a craps ton more rust than I thought, but I honestly think that I can do this! You see, it's not about owning a gorgeous ready to drive 240Z; for me it's all about taking each challenge and task and learning how to solve it and fix it. I want to learn! Will I have a show worthy, prestine car? No way! But will I have a safe, road-ready sports car that I am beyond proud of? Heck yes!!! This is what I love and I am determined to see it through! This is something that will allow me to learn and spend more quality time with my grandparents, while they are still around. That... means more to me than ANY end product! Update to come, as I had a very successful day!!
  8. My dash was in need of some love so I followed the dash repair techniques on this forum and I think it came out really good. Not perfect but 100X better than it was. I ended up spending about $100 on materials and a good week or 2 of working on it here and there. Heres the materials I used. Plus I used Great Stuff expanding foam and Duplicolor Truck bed coating for the final coat. Used the Great stuff expanding foam to fill in the cracks that were split open. Then I used the bondo bumper repair to fill in the holes Coat #2 Then applied the SEM glaze putty. This required 4-5 coats of applying then sanding. Then primed with SEM flexible primer I used the SEM texture coating to get a decent texture Then sprayed with 2 coats of Duplicolor truck bed coating. I thought it turned out pretty good. I cleaned up my dash support. Then installed my new Fairlady emblem What do you guys think?
