I am now Z less

Extremely happy to hear that Victor - it made my day!

Have fun and get an alarm!

Way too go! That's great news for you and your Z. I bet you'll be getting some Classic Car insurance real soon. It's only costing about $80.00 annually for $5000 agreed upon value coverage with 3000 miles/ year. That and the use of your club should insure that you have many more years with her.

Nice to hear a happy ending. Been following this post, and the frustration really came through in all the posts. Now if we can find a way to make early Z cars harder to steal, can't make them a less attractive target. Gary

you got really lucky, that guy could have went hot roddin in it on crack or something and really messed things up. I bet that feeling coming out of the store was so bad.

You've been big about this Victor and pay back is the return of your car - I'm really happy for you.

Glad to see you got it back.

Just curious did you lock your steering wheel on the day it was stolen?

A Classic Z is very easy to steal. All you do is take a key ignition assembly from another Z - Disconnect the current ignition and hookup the spare and turn the key.

If you lock your steering wheel it still prevents it from moving with another key assembly.

A friend of mine way back in high school had several Z's and showed me this trick.

Always turn and lock your steering wheel when parking your car.

Glad to hear the pride and joy is back home!:classic:

As for the responsible party, any info from the police?

I'm sure a few members would not hesitate to help with a classic "encounter with the bad guy"

Hey Victor,

So glad you got your baby back!!! I know the feeling of a missing Z. Back in 1986 or 87 my 240Z was stolen from right in front of where I worked at the time (San Diego). It felt as though I had lost a child!!! I had visions of it disappearing over the US/Mexico border. Two days later it was found by the police only a few miles away from where it was taken. Fortunately, the steering wheel had been removed by the thief, otherwise the Z would have been taken again, considering the neighborhood it was found in. Believe it or not I actually drove the car home from the impound yard using a large vise-grip as the steering wheel.........I was younger and less wise also!!! Anyway, we're all smiles again:D :D :D .

P.S. The only music I listen to in my Z are the sounds a Z makes when it's owner is having it's way with it!!!!:finger::love::finger::love:ROFL

Interesting 240ZX, just shows that a removeable wheel is not such a hindrance, especially if the car is driven away at night and therefore no-one sees the obvious 'mistake' !
