Posted June 21, 20168 yr comment_497274 Does anyone know of a way to tell if a motor has been removed before? I've checked the wire/speedo cable looms and they look untouched. I'm thinking it's the originally installed motor and judging by the pedal rubber the 23,000 odometer reading is really only 123,000 miles. I'm working on a sales ad. I don't want any wrong info so I'm trying to figure this out. Thanks for any tips. June 21, 20168 yr comment_497282 Good question, I'm not really sure but what about looking at the engine mounts and fasteners, checking for signs of removal or replacement. June 21, 20168 yr comment_497283 Your title says original, but you're asking about if it's been removed. You know that the early cars had the engine serial number stamped on the car's ID plate, right? If they match, it's original. Then you can say "numbers matching" engine. June 21, 20168 yr comment_497288 Did they put yellow paint on the motor mount bolts after they were installed? Chuck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/55673-original-motor/#findComment-497288 Share on other sites
