Gas Tank Vent Hoses How Specific Do They Have To Be

Featured Replies

I understand how this is supposed to work now, thanks to the pictures and explanations.

Just to add some more background info, here are few pictures of the fuel vapor venting system in my non emissions car as it came from the factory without the vapor recover tank, it doesn't get much simpler than this. Also look at what I happened to find in the second picture, below the red arrow.

Thanks for posting the pictures, I can't really tell what your red arrow is pointing to.

Here's a hint, this small part has been discussed in recent posts in another topic.

Are people really completely eliminating the vents on their systems?

That guy, Dogma, deleted his in that thread about coating your tank with Por-15.  I've been on this forum for a few years and have never seen a post from him.  Maybe the fumes got him?

I don't know if you'd be a good partner on the $1000,000 Pyramid show.

i guess not.  I put my glasses on and still can't tell what it is.

Well, I'll be.  Somebody already removed my interior panels, so I did not recognize them.  Here is my stuff.

If you decide to replace the hoses use a length of nylon cord or string and lay it around each hose then measure that.  Add an extra 10% then round up to the next foot so you'll have plenty.  I looked for my receipt from O'reilly's for lengths and part numbers but couldn't find it.  For the 90 degree bend I used two 3/4" P.E.X elbows with 5/8" low pressure fuel hose.

I'm going to delete the vapor tank and run the big filler vent hose direct to the gas tank.  I believe it is 5/8, I'll look for some pex fittings at the hardware store.
