Posted October 3, 201212 yr comment_403279 Today a total stranger asked to take a pic of my Z, so I thought it might be time to share with the members. Its a 75 280Z which I painted (first paint job) in my "garage booth." I replaced or refurbed almost everything form the ground up, learned to weld new floor pans and other areas (still not a good welder but learning). There are stil some body panels I'm not happy with and need to sand and buff some more, the stripes need work. I've still got a couple of electrical gremlins to chase away and still looking to get her perfectly tuned, but she runs very well and is great in the twisty's. Thanks to many many members of the forum for all their help in getting me thru this project, I couldn't have done it all without your assistance. October 18, 201212 yr Author comment_404597 Thanks for the comments, I'm now debating on selling her to start on another project, but not real sure on pricing. I know I'll never get what I've got in her and that's OK it was the fun of doing the project and learning new skills. I've finally got her running well and she looks stunning (to me at least). She is a 75 with a 79 block and rebuilt N42 head, custom 2.5" exhaust, all new weather stripping thru out, new poly bushings, new driver floor pan and rail, sound proof matting thru out, new injectors and wiring connectors for the EFI, new carpeting, new headliner and all new vinyl, full dash cap(on it when I got her), no rust that I can find now, new windshield, bunch of other new stuff I can't recall. I have all the receipts of what was bought. I just need some ideas of she might be worth, its not matter of having to sell her any time soon, just need some ideas of her value. Thanks to all. October 18, 201212 yr comment_404604 Put it on Ebay. With a reserve on it you have control on the auction, FWIW Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44580-almost-there-but-not-yet/#findComment-404604 Share on other sites
October 18, 201212 yr comment_404614 If you are just hoping to research it's value, without actually selling it, the only way to do so is to OFFER it for sale, but REFUSE to sell. That's what a reserve price gives you. But, the biggest problem with e-Bay auctions, is that you are hoping that the "stars align" properly and you cash in on everything working out. You then pay e-Bay it's share REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU SOLD IT OR NOT. So you set your reserve at an astronomical price, and e-Bay recognizes this and charges you a large amount of money for your auction, because it's obvious you're not going to sell the item, unless someone foolishly accepts your unreasonable reserve price.Or you set a rmore easonable reserve price and it's met by the buyer, which means you are now FORCED to sell AND PAY E-BAY IT'S SHARE OF THE SALE, Only then, you find out you didn't know the proper reserve price and you undervalued it by several thousand, and you're out your car, and whatever money you undervalued it at.Which means that it is an expensive method to do some bad research. However, if all you want to know is what would your car bring?Put it up for sale in the Nickel Ads, Craig's list, or other local papers and, again, refuse to sell because they didn't offer what you wanted. You may, at worst, have to pay ad fees in the newspaper and nickel ads, but they'll be a whole lot less than e-bay without the risk AND they won't increase simply because you asked for more money.FWIWE Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44580-almost-there-but-not-yet/#findComment-404614 Share on other sites
October 18, 201212 yr comment_404618 There is no insertion/listing fee for a low volume seller( six items in one yr ) , so you can test the waters(for nada 0 $) and you can remove the reserve if item/car gets hot. That will cost 125$ ( for a 5K + item) for a completed transaction.....not bad for the exposure that Ebay gets, if the deal gets sour there are no fees,,,,,,,,,FWIW Edited October 18, 201212 yr by 72 OJ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44580-almost-there-but-not-yet/#findComment-404618 Share on other sites
October 18, 201212 yr comment_404620 EXCEPT that if you have EVER sold more than 6 items in a year, then you are considered a HIGH VOLUME SELLER and the fees apply....snip...Each time you submit a listing or relist an item, it counts as 1 listing. You're eligible for the pricing above if you've submitted 6 or fewer listings in each of the previous calendar years. When you've submitted 7 or more listings in a single calendar year, you're considered a high-volume seller. Once you become a high-volume seller, you're permanently a high-volume seller and high-volume seller fees apply.http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/motorfees.htmlThen in the examples given:Examples:...snip..Seller B has also never listed on eBay Motors. He lists 6 different cars between January 1 and November 30. He is charged zero insertion fees for these cars. When he lists another car on December 15, he's no longer considered a low-volume seller and fees for high-volume sellers apply because he has more than 6 listings in a calendar year. When the next calendar year starts on January 1, he'll be considered a high-volume seller and will be charged insertion fees to list."With eBay being a very common point from which a lot of people DO sell items, the probability that a person has already exceeded the "less than 6 items in a year" provision is higher, resulting in the person getting charged the FEES.We're both right... with cautions though.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44580-almost-there-but-not-yet/#findComment-404620 Share on other sites

October 19, 201212 yr comment_404627 Guesses? Now you're really asking for a miracle. Why not see if, of the other members in Colorado, someone is close enough to take a look at your car and give you a WAG.There are too many variables to take into account on a simple text description and a few pictures.2¢E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/44580-almost-there-but-not-yet/#findComment-404627 Share on other sites
