PS...it is a one piece emblem with nice patina , found on EBAY .

I've never seen one before. Interesting piece and I've subscribed to the thread to find out more as it gets posted.

Is that part number 84806-8E600? The 848 part indicates that it's a trunk lid emblem which means that it's for a sedan. I'd have to do more research on the rest.

That looks like it. No wonder I couldn't find it. My charts don't go beyond 1992.

You guys are the Sherlock Holmes of Z LAND....mystery solved,I kinda like it and being a Nissan/Datsun part it will be attached to the rear spoiler on my Z.

Since SSS stands for 'Super Sports Sedan' that emblem will be out of place on your Z.

Thanks for the link.....My 72 Z is not a restore to factory specs and has been refresh with a l260 block,l240 head , 71 SU carbs , interior redone in fabric and vinyl ,the Orange paint is a little brighter than the factory, it has vintage Fairlady Z emblems on the fenders, bullet chrome style side mirrors,a MOMO steering wheel and shift knob, so I think that this unique emblem is a proper add on.
