SU idle/mixture adjustment pls help

Featured Replies

Hi

Got my 240 today and it seems to be idling high and very rich and smelly

How do I adjust the idle and will this in turn adjust the mixture??

Or how do I adjust both idle and lean off the mixture?

You help would be greatly appreciated.

Will post up pics soon...car now registered here in the UK having spent its 41yrs in CA.:)

Do a thread search for "quick and dirty su", I think it was BLUE that posted a really good description of how to do this.

With that little bit of information, I would strongly suggest the Z Therapy DVD.

Yes I can understand I do seem like a total numpty. I'm not good with twiddly bits but I can make things shine and sparkle...... you wouldn't believe I stripped and rebuilt this V12:D

Are they not some sort of SU varient on that V12?

I just added some drawings to the quick and dirty thread. Here is one that will help:

Screws 4 & 6 are idle set screws for each carb. (adjust these with the "Auxillary throttle shaft" disconnected)

Screw 3 balances the two carbs at higher rpms.

I believe they are similar. They are mentioned in the Z therapy video. I believe they are Stromberg's and have a diaphragm in them. That looks like an XKE...
