What's the name of this song?

Featured Replies

Just heard one of those songs that rarely comes on the radio, and every time it does I wish I knew what it was so I could download it.

It's an 80's song that's loosely related to David Bowie's "Space Oddity" in that it's about Major Tom being out in space. The chorus is:

4, 3, 2, 1

[can't remember the two words that fit on this line...dangit!!]

drifting, falling

floating weightless

coming home

Peter Murphy "Space Oddity". Peter Murphy from "Bauhaus" and "Love and Rockets".

Try plugging "drifting falling floating weightless" or whatever words you can remember from any song into a search engine. Works almost every time.

"Standing there alone the ship is waiting, all systems are go are you sure?"
Yep, Duffman nailed it in his post. I actually have the sheet music to that somewhere.......

Earth below us, drifting, falling,

Floating weightless, calling, calling home

Thats the background music in a Lincoln Continental commercial on TV. Liked it when it came out but never knew who did it.

Yes, it is a catchy tune. I did take liberty with one word. It should be 'we count only blue cars'.
