Posted January 6, 201015 yr comment_305308 Hello allI actually have two questions. First off my Z has nasty overspray on the passenger side door panel. I tried using paint thinner to get it off with very little success. I've read a thread someplace to use lacquer thinner, does this work better? Anyone have pictures or tips about getting paint off said panel. Secondly. I cannot for the life of me find a 280z emblem for the rear hatch. Does anyone know of a place or have some lying around. Most of the places I've found use the "replace" method where you ship yours in and they give you a "new" one. But I don't have one to send in and the price is a bit steep for just an emblem.Jan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34323-interior-overspray/ Share on other sites
January 6, 201015 yr comment_305312 I would try "Goo Off" to remove the over spray. Test it first on a covered part to make sure it doesn't damage the vinyl. I have heard that WD40 works as well.280Z emblems are all over eBay as well as Motorsport Auto, Black Dragon, Datsun Restore.com and more. Just search a bit. I do like to condition the rubber or vinyl afterwords with vinyl/leather conditioner. January 6, 201015 yr comment_305348 another vote for lacquer thinner. only thing that worked for me.test on an inconspicuous spot first to determine any damage and how much muscle to use. since it evaporates so fast might take multiple applications to work. January 7, 201015 yr comment_305383 I had a similar issue on my 72. PO has painted the car and accidentally (or plain stupidity) paint has reached also door panels. I bought grease remover (a bit like thinner) cleaned the door panels with that ( it didnt take the old paint off, just all extra dirt) and oversprayed vith VHT Vinyl spray. They are good as new. January 7, 201015 yr comment_305392 Same problem here, quarter century of overspray and grime, on off-white no less. Laquer thinner was the only product that cut it quick and easy. I found using small squares of cloth to take off most of the grime, then follow with a clean cloth and thinner to remove the residue worked best. Plenty of safety precautions and ventilation. Some before, after and compare. Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34323-interior-overspray/#findComment-305392 Share on other sites
