Help ID these wheels please!

Featured Replies

Recently bought 11/73' 1974 datsun 260z came with a set of 5slot aluminum mags

will be applying for collectors plates where i live and need to have correct stock or era correct aftermarket rims to date.

I've spent a lot of time trying to find leads on these rims, the only information i can find is that they could be appliance rims, the centercaps are metal and rusty but have a fancy imprinted A on them. push in, not bolted on.

i will get a more specific shot of rim, this is what i have so far. any help is appreciated it!

The 5 slot mags were a common dealer installed option on the 240Z. I suppose that they could have been dealer installed on the 260Z as well.

There were a lot of companies who made wheels like that. I remember seeing them in the Sears catalog when I was a kid.

i bought a 73 240 with those same rims with push in center caps that read spirit of america on them and have a picture of an eagle

These are appliance slots like you said . they are wheels that the dealers were using in the day. In the 70s most Hot Rods were using the same style. They are period correct.

ok. finding what type of rim they are is a relief, now i am curious whats the largest size tire i can go on these rims. I believe they are 14X6

they have 185/70R14's on them... i'd love to go to 215's on the back atleast, what size rim would i be looking for?

Isn't that fancy "A" actually a "D" for Datsun on it's side? Never seen the Appliance logo but seen the "D" on wire wheels on a Yellow Z owned by Mr. K and turbine wheels on HLS30-01678 owned by my friend.

Trust me, it's an A, not a D. I can't find any pictures of the boxes right now, but they would show the A logo.

you know, i suppose that could be argued to be a fancy D verses an A..... funny i never saw it that way! so really what is it?

Not sure it will help you, but these were the wheels on my 260z when I bought it from the original owner around 1978. I am 100% sure these were the wheels on the car when it was purchased, as I knew the original owner and remember when it came home from the dealership.

did you just put the z center caps on the rims, or are those the z rims?
