Carbon fiber

Featured Replies

Anyone out there have a contact(s) for carbon fiber parts for the 240Z? I'm intyerested in body parts and interior parts.

Thanks

I think there was a huge discussion on the website awhile back. Do a search for carbon fiber (or carbon fibre) and see what happens.

Les Cannaday told me that there is a shortage of carbon fiber because of large government contracts.

Carbon fiber is readily available but the prices have gone up. I sell real CF hoods and hatches for the 240Z.

John:

Can you give us an example of what a "not real" carbon fiber hood or hatch would be made of?

thanks,

Carl B.

A fiberglass hood or hatch with a layer of carbon fiber on top. Its a fiberglass part with a very thin, light weave trim layer of CF on top.

How well do they hold paint John? Will there be a noticable difference between the fenders and the hood color if painted?

There should be no color difference if the panels are painted at the some time using the same paint batch. Below is a shot of a full carbon fiber hood on my old 240Z painted with Toyota Super White 2. The fenders have the same paint color but they were painted about 4 years earlier.
