To be perfectly honest, the 2005 U.S. F1 GP would not rank very high on my target list for an F1 race to visit. Maybe if they ran the cars around the whole oval it might be more interesting

With tracks such as Spa, Suzuka and Monaco still in use I'd rather visit the F1 races held in those places than Indy I'm afraid.

But if I did go to visit Indianapolis, would I be able to visit the chassis manufacturers, engine manufacturers, transmission, brake, wheel, tyre, steering etc etc manufacturers whose products took part in the 2005 Indy 500? I'm going to need names and addresses of 'major' companies before I go visiting.

I don't intend any disrespect to Indy and its huge motorsports-related activities and industries, and when I dispute that "RCotW" status I'm not ignoring Indy's heritage and history - which I have enormous respect for.

But when anybody states that a single city is the "RCotW" then I wonder if they can imagine just how conceited and blinkered that sounds to the outside world? Or maybe they don't care about that?

Anyway, I'm making plans to up sticks and move to Loxahatchee.

Alan, actually Indianapolis is quite famous for it's strip clubs. Guess all those racers keep them in business. Indiana is also the hotbed of nudist resorts, so if watching the F1 cars on a manufactured road course is not that exciting then you could take a trip to the countryside.

Racing is all about the sponsorships!!! and hype is part of the game. “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” “Racing Capital of the World” Whether it is accurate is up for endless debate but it has created the largest purse and prestige in racing which drivers from all over the world and all forms of racing have been drawn to compete for. But back to the point, Danica; she is the real deal! She is not a poser! Remember “when the green flag drops the bullshit stops!” I have raced myself as well as worked on the safety crews at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for quite a few years and you see drivers and posers come and go, Danica is a driver! As to the comments as to Danica posing for a magazine, what a bunch of sexist BS. Have you never seen the ads or photos of the male drivers in tight jeans etc… give me a break! Racing is all about selling yourself, without the big sponsor dollars it doesn’t matter how good of a driver you are! JLP

That is absolutely false. I have not belittle's anyone's performance. I have dared to hold Danica Patrick to the same standard as the male drivers on the track and have received the predictable reaction.

Very true. I've said numerous times that she is indeed a good driver and her skills have never been in question. Go back to the beginning of this thread and you'll see that Danica's skill or lack thereof has never been the topic.

No, just an observation of reality. Someone indicated that Danica was merely a victim of the press and that she never asked for any attention whatsoever. I simply pointed out the fact that girls who don't want attention don't pose for men's magazines. That is a true statement.

Now, for the good of racing, for the sake of worldwide sanity, and in order to save another ten thousand trees from being used as pulp for more Danica stories, let's all chant together... GO, DANICA, GO!!!
