Posted May 28, 200420 yr comment_83125 hello to anyone listening...i have just bought my first 240Z....very sexy example in orange (1973) with Samuri adapted engine etc.....sounds fantastic when booted....problemis I picked it up in Carlysle last night and it ran out of petrol (or at least that what I think happenned)....was coughing and spluttering and fuel filter was gunged up...nice man from AA couldn't get it going so got home ignominiously in his lorry.... question is does anyonr know of a company in the Oxford/Coventry area who can clean my carbs? and check it over (tune it)....car only has 68K on clock and is virtually mint so this little hick up is merely annoying.....I can't pose over the bank holiday weekend...disaster! any other ideas as to what the problem might be I am open to suggestions (although I thought it ran out fuel it only took 7 gal!!! so could be something else..... hugs and kisses jagbabe Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11959-helloe-and-help/ Share on other sites
May 28, 200420 yr comment_83128 Sounds like the tank if full of garbage and it's clogging up the fuel filter. Rust scale and old gas in the tank will only keep doing this over and over until you drain, flush, and clean the fuel lines, tank and pickup screen in the tank. The carbs may be OK, but until you get the tank issue taken care of, I'd leave them alone. As far as where to get it done, try PM'ing one of our members in the UK. "HS30-H" and "Black Beaut" are two that come to mind off the top of my head. There are others, but these two visit here more often than the rest, at least lately that is.... May 28, 200420 yr comment_83129 "dJACEY" and "abas" come to mind also. Try replacing the fuel filter first and see what happens. It wouldn't hurt to drain the tank, but if the filter clogs up again with trash, the gas tank and fuel lines are the problem. It has always been my experience to leave the carburetors alone as much as possible and seek all other solutions first. There is a UK Zclub website like ours, and even though I would rather you hang around here, the chaps over there might be able to help you find a mechanic. www.zclub.net Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/11959-helloe-and-help/#findComment-83129 Share on other sites
