Z Zoomers, Early today I looked at a 1970 Z offered in the San Jose Auto ads: Datsun 70 240Z Gd condition. Blue $4600 tel. 408 985 2046. The car is a very fine early 70s Z #1495. This car has been in the same family since new and looks like it has original specs. It's being sold as the owner is dying of cancer. The family are mechanically minded and have kept the car in perfect running order. They have all work orders not done by themselves. The car was garaged for many years and has only 84000 miles. The dash is without a crack. The car was painted one year ago. Its a beautiful metalic mediterranean blue. There is some rust on the passenger floor and under the battery bu…

I am trying to find date of manufacture of my 240 from its HS 30 serial no. I have been told that although car was registered in early 73, it could still be Tax exempt in UK if it can be proven to be manufactured before 73. Has anyone done this before or can anyone help. Thanks Lee Welsby

I have a '72 240 in close to perfect condition. It has 69,000 miles and I have redone the entire suspension (bearings, 4 piston calipers, new wheel cylinders, poly bushings, tokico shocks etc. etc.) So now that I have a decent suspension and braking system, I am interested to know what can reasonably be done with an L24. I am considering conversion to HEI electronic ignition (have the parts), a header and 2-1/2 inch exhaust and maybe a cam. But, again -- what can I reasonably do to this car? By reasonably I mean without sacrificing drivablity. What kind of power can I get from an L24 and what is the best way to go about getting it. The car is a toy and not used as …

Anyone know where to get a 5/8" to 3/4" hose reducer, preferably in metal? Dayco #80424 is abrass 5/8" to 3/4" adapter. Dayco makes a lot of belts and hoses so you should be able to get this at an auto supply store that handles Dayco. BTW it was $1.99.

I have an original '73 240z with 30k original miles. It is in excellent shape, no dash, cracks alloriginal hoses under hood etc. I am in the middle of a tune up and had some questions about the air cleaner. My air cleaner has two holes, @ 1" in dia, in the curved end of the cover that look like something attatched to it at one time. What are these for? Also someone installed a K&N air filter but it appears too thick. The cover won't seat against the back plate when installed with this filter. I picked a replacement filter at my local shop and it too was too wide. is it possible that I have an air cleaner from a 260? the prod date on my car is 2/73. any ideas wouild…

I ordered your CD on parts but, in the mean time I am looking to get started on the refresh of my 70 Z. It was orginally sold by Hoyt Datsun in Auburn Wa. I bought it in 77 from Monroe Street Datsun in Spokane, WA. and have had it ever since. Does some one make a replacement gas tank for these cars? If not how are you best restoring the ones we have. This car is stock except for the wheels. I never have had those. The orginal dealer put mag wheels on it.

ok well I am just about to get a 240 to replace my 280ZX that was just taken off the road. And i just wanted to know have many of you had any luck turning there 240 into a mustang killer? my goal with my next Z is to be able to kick the arse of all those kids driving around in there 5L's. I really like the idea of blowing away a 5L then telling him he was just beat by a 2.4L. What kind of success can i expect from doing normal mods. Like headers, exhaust, ignition, k&n filters, and a nice head rebuild. That's about all that is in my budget for the next year or so. PS. I will be sure to post a pic of my jem once i pick it out. Thanks
