So I think I figured out why the car dog-tracks a bit. I got a good look at the suspension while the car was getting new tires put on today. Maybe this is the way it's supposed to be and I need to look elsewhere, but it definitely looks like someone at some point needed to replace the left rear LCA and ended up using an inverted right-side one instead. If those two arms have camber and toe designed into their angles, that would definitely explain why the left side is funky. image one, the right side with control arm apparently right-side-up http://s132.photobucket.com/albums/q27/AwwsChwA/z%20parts/?action=view¤t=rightLCA.jpg image two, the left side with what…

Alright, my new Eibach/Tokico package is in the mail, but there's something odd about that passenger side rear suspension and I'm wondering what I should be looking for when I tear it down. The other three corners are saggy, gooshy-reacting when pushed down on suspension bits. They squish down progressively and bound back up like normal. However that rear corner isn't doing that. Its much harder to push down, and when you finally get enough weight on it, it "thunks" and then squishes a little. When driving, if you go over bumps you can hear something wrong on that side, and it feels like someone hit the rear quarter with a rubber mallet. Anyways, just wondering what t…

Hello I found a supprise under my under coating and am not sure how to go about fixing. Should I cut out this area? How fare up should I go? There are two pices of metal the one is part of the fender sheet. The other must be a pice spot welded for a stiffiner. What is the thickness of the metal? As you can also see my T/C mounts are very very bent up. Is this a avlable pice for replacement? I have only found fraim rails. They state they dont come with the T/C mounting brackets. Wow what was some one thinking:cry:

71 240z. I just started assembling my first "lowered spring kit" and I'm curious. Is it normal for me to NOT have to compress the front springs when I re-assemble the whole thing? I've double checked to make sure I have the front spring with the front strut cartridge and everything seems to be correct.

I'm new to Z cars, working on my first:D. This one feels like it's got '78 suspension parts...all of them shot to hell:ermm:. So refurbing them is first thing I'll do. What should I expect to replace/change to put it back to a good street ride, and what will it cost me? Anything weird to look out for or that needs to be better than OEM? I'll move to interior from there.

Hi guys does anyone know if the front balljoints change throughout the S30s model years? are there different part numbers between '69 and '78? I ask because I bought some ball joints which were supposed to be for my '73 and while they do look identical to the ones currently on the car (even down to the grease fitting), they don't line up with the holes in my lower control arm. If you put the new balljoint in the LCA opening so that it sits flush, the holes are easily 1/4" off... Was I sold the wrong part or have some of you experience this? BTW is the grease fitting a metric size? I've got a (cheap) grease gun from Harbor Freight and it's near impossible for it to seal we…

I am rebuilding the rear suspension and plan to use urethane bushings. On the mustache bar I expected to see a one-piece shell after removing the rubber. Instead, the bushing had a two piece rubber and two piece outer shell. Is this normal? One edge rolls over on the bar, the other roll in. The new bushing will not fit in the rolled in end. Help, see pics. My Z in a 1970. Mike

Here is a picture of one more Z car T/C rod gone. I installed MSA polyurethane bushings front and back on the T/C rods of my stock 1976 280Z about 4 months ago and have put about 3,000 fairly easy road miles on since then. I had read the various accounts of broken rods but the evidence still seemed iffy and most of the descriptions seemed to be for the later model cars with front-oriented T/C rods and not the rear-oriented Z cars. So I decided I would do both sides with polyurethane on my car and see what happened. It looks like fatigue cracking started top and bottom and just worked its way through the bar. The coup de grace may have been when I backed the front whe…
