What is the stock ride height of a 240Z? My Z is 27" at the front wheel well fender lip and 26" at the back (measured through the center line of the wheel). I am not sure if this is due to spring sag in the back or the pressure of the new Tokico gas struts in the front. At any rate, I have totally redone the suspension sans springs. I have also just mounted 16x7 Panasports with Kuhmo 205/55/16's and in that 26" back wheel well they are perfect so I only want to lower the front 1" not the back. Any thoughts?

I am updating the suspension of my 77 Z. My goal is to have a comfortable, well mannered, reasonably quiet ride. Firm but not harsh. This car will go cruising on the highway and go to the grocery store. It will not be raced. At present, it has the original springs and shocks. They are weak. I don't want the car lowered much. Maybe less than 1 inch, if necessary. What springs and shocks make sense here???

Recently purchased a low mileage 77 280Z. It has low mi Michelin X 195 70 HR 14 tires all season tires on it. They hold the road well but seem noisy above 65 mph and seem to transmit a lot of road noise into the interior of the car. What modern tires are recommended/prefered for this car that give good performance but minimize the amount of road noise??? I prefer to stay close to the original size. Thanks.

... except perhaps this one. Completely pulling down the front end of an original `72. Replacing or rebuilding all brake and suspension components on all four corners. The stupid question is this: Is the vaccum err... vacume... vackumn... vacuum-servo rebuildable or should I replace it? Furthermore, does it most likely even need it? Any takers? thanks, 'Fink

My 77 280 is equipped w/ the 4 speed, and I would like to replace it w/ a 5 speed. I live in a semi-rural area and get on the highway to go anywhere... the overdrive would sure be nice. Questions: are there good sources for the transmission? Am I opening a can of worms?

I would like to know what the largest diameter rim with low-profile tires will go on my 77 280Z, WITHOUT toying with the suspension. The vehicle will not be raced... I just want it to look like it. Can the wheel wells be filled w/ an even bigger combo with MINIMAL suspension mods?

I've been reading some of the posts regarding wheel/tire sizes. Before I go shopping for a new set of wheels, can anyone answer these questions: 1. What is the exact bolt configuration on the 1972 240z? 2. Does a larger rim size negatively effect braking? Thanks for the help! -Chris

Guys - My car has a wheel vibration at highway speeds. It sounds like it is coming from the driver side front wheel. My first thought, was that I had a worn wheel bearing or excessive play in there. To try and solve the problem, I have replaced wheel bearings, and made sure I had the correct bearing play, which didn't help. Around town I don't here it, and it is only at 55+ mph it happens, and it doesn't get better at higher speeds. It seems if I were to steer quickly to side to side, the sound stops for a sec. I have since jacked up the car and moved the wheel back and forth checking for tie rod endplay. The thing I found is the passenger's side tierod seems to have muc…

Ok I have a 1973 with stock suspension, and it so needs a complete upgrade. I am all over the road with bumps (exaggerating a little bit). So I want to put in new struts spring and Bushings. Is there anything else I should be doing? and what products would be good to get. I want to get some decent quality stuff but money is an object. So I know of Tokico and KYB but I would really like your guys input on what is good for a good price. I don’t really need adjustable unless it really makes a difference. So if you have any input post it up thanks alot. Paul
