  1. The 2-door 810 is very rare just as the auction states. Most were 4-doors and its hard to find a 810 at all today. In 1981 they started calling them Nissan Maximas or Maxima/810.
  2. Wow, you get $75 for a stripped frame? Around here they take the car for free if its complete. If its missing as much as one body panel or the engine then I gotta pay for them to take the car away. Usually $50.
  3. Also the BMW 325i 1985-91 has the same Bosch fuel injection and a much larger AFM. It is larger than the Datsun turbo and is already set up with normally asparated electronics inside. It will need some minor adjustments though for the added displacement.
  4. Why not just buy the 194 dash light bulbs with built-in resistors? They plug right in. Are they not bright enough for you?

  6. At least the Civic entered the parking lot from the correct side.

Strangely, I've even gotten the Porshe question asked about my 280ZX! As for any of my other S30 Z's, everyone seems to know what they are.

  13. The L-series is bulletproof. Didn't you know that? I don't see why someone would choose to crush (maybe even pay) a car that has bids. There's no point to putting a reserve on a car that is junk to the owner. If you want it gone, start the bid at $1 with no reserve. Get it outta the garage!

Thousands spent on the car, but not on a digital camera! If he spent $18,000 on it, its worth $9,000 now.
  15. I've heard it argued both ways. These days the standards for car safety and comfort prevent it from being made of thin metal with no sound insulation or impact protection. The Z (base model) is fairly basic even for today's standards as far as luxury options. It has a carbon fiber driveshaft and aluminum suspension components. It seems that weight reduction was used and in those areas that it was used in it helps performance and handling. It would seem impossible to make a street legal V6 car weighs less than 3000 lbs unless you make a V6 Miata! FWD 4-bangers weigh less because they have no drivetrain. :cheeky: Nissan can't please everyone, but it seems they made a car that appeals to many people and is selling well. At least its not a 4-seater or 4-cyl turbo like they were suggesting back in 2001.
  16. Ok, thanks for the info. I'm glad it will soon be an option to upload custom avitars. You can always use the pre-loaded avitars. There are 19 to choose from.

How about the rear disc conversion? If its an 82-83 I think those are what most people use.
  18. Since the slight re-design of the web site, I noticed that I can't upload a custom avitar anymore. Is this the same for everyone else? If so, is this the new standard or was it a mistake to turn off that feature? :stupid:
  19. FYI: Datsun 810/Maxima: 1977-84 was a fuel injected L24 it would make sense that those manifolds might be slightly smaller diameter inside. As far as I know all L28's have the same size runners in the manifold. The late 280ZX had the main "log" of the manifold neck down slightly near the back of the engine. I don't know if that hurts performance at all. A little bit of turbulance is good for an intake. You want the air to pick up the mixture of fuel and dispurse it well. Even on head porting, it is always said to not polish the intake ports, just open them up. Port and polish only the exhaust ports.
  20. I'm pretty sure the Fairlady Z emblem is plastic. We're talking about just the round Z on the hood. I've also seen the FAIRLADY Z fender emblems on eBay. I could use 1, 2 or 3 of those. $$$$$
  21. Yup Yup! Confirmed again. The Fairlady Z emblem goes over a slight curve in the hood while my 280ZX's hood is more flat. The ZX emblem is very thin. But I suppose I could use a ZX hood emblem for a replacement if need be.
  22. So do you think a stock Hitachi carb bolts up to that or would a single Weber downdraft work? Looks like it would make for a simple carb setup with no power above 3000 rpm.
  23. What year is his car? Does he even have a V8? Some people think their 3500 pound, V6, automatic transmission American car is actually fast... like a Mustang. But, you probably won't be looking at high 12's with that setup. High 13's maybe... if you're really lucky. The downdraft Webers are not that good. The intake manifold work sounds great, the ignition setup will just keep things running smoothly but its really not a huge performance gain. High compression and a big cam are what you need. Oh, and a 4.11 rear I would venture to say that a 280Z factory fuel injection system would do better than those dual webers.
  24. Walter, that is the absolute best avitar ever! Is that all bare metal? ...better keep the garden hose away!
