Rick, That's a shed! 3 cars long by 2 cars wide - very nice, any pics? A two post lift can be bought up here for under 2K and they are good to 8000 lbs.

24 X 24 sounds like a good size, but the word is "it will never be big enough" and with the inventory you have - it will be a squeeze even with creative parking. I built a 24 X 16 3 years ago and it definately shrunk over the past couple of years - I gutted it today to fit in a second car and it will be tight, but I don't have a garage for my other gear. I am looking forward to seeing your new car pictures as well.

It's going into a R200 case - the vendor has offered me three differentials (2 x 3.5, 1 x 3.9) they are all the same type.

I found a guy locally who has a load of assorted parts left over from modifying his 280 to drag race. He has a 3.9 rear end but it has been welded to get positive traction. My question is can I take the gears out of that and install them in my 3.5 housing. The vendor says it can be done, but befor I comit to buying the diffs I though I would check here at the site to see if there is any insight. I am thinking the face of the ring gear can come off the plate and the 3.9 gear bolted directly in it's place (and of course the pinion would be changed out as well) . What do you think? Anyone done it?

There was a vendoer selling the original type on our classified section last year - not sure but I think they went for about $50 each. They looked very good.

I did however get a box of goodies from the vendor including: a set of wheel covers (three of which look brand new), a Z hotwheels - still in the box, chrome 240z pillar emblems, chrome side Datsun words, a set of tire guages (look to be in the original bag), windshield wipers and other less interesting minutia. Kinda like the Xmas stocking befor getting a look at the tree. Anyway, Hoping this week is the big one.

Wow - I just got out of bed - man that is disturbing. Some people have trouble recognizing colour - I think you would have to meet the guy to understand this, he may have an excentric sense of humour. That being said the bodies look to be very good.

Big Oak - Glad you brought that up (about the spread sheet) - was looking at the VINs and I figured I had something buggered up cause mine (73) was 30,000 out of sync with the others. Anyway it's sorted out now.

Mike - I am interested, as I illustrated with my unhappy face, it does seem a little pricey. For me it is 274 + 30 (shipping) + 30 (dollar exchange back to 1 loonie = .91 USD again) + 40 (tax) = $374 befor installation. Nice to know how it stacks up against NOS. Will - If that's an offer - thanks - I am interested.

Got it! Z Specialties, I spoke to what seemed to be the proprietor named Oliver. Nice guy to yarn with, very knowledgable. Here is a quote on the part - from the site: Hatch Sill Plate 70-78 [50126-ENBD] $274.95 (A little pricey:disappoin) When you open the rear hatch and look down at the plate that sits above the tail lights, there is a panel that is welded to the body and has the hatch striker sticking up through the middle of it. This panel is called the hatch slam panel, or hatch threshold or sill plate. This piece has been obsolete for a few years now and we've finally convinced a company to start making them for us. The hatch sill plate is a common rot area so we consider this a very important piece to have in stock for our z customers and for our own use as well. We were unable to find a company willing to stamp these units out in smaller quantities. The minimum order from most sheet metal companies was 15,000 units or more which is not practical for us to do. We finally found a company that is will to make them in small numbers. These units are hand crafted one at a time and are made very nice. They are almost an exact duplicate. These panels are a close copy of the original panel, but they are not a perfect copy. I've taken the time to set this reproduction piece alongside an original factory unit and they are almost exact. Unless someone sets them side by side and studies them closely you'd never know that they weren't an original part, so keep that in mind for you concourse people, these units will pass the test. These units will fit all coupes from 70-78 but they must be spot welded or glued in place with a special body panel glue. We do have lots of pics on file of these units installed

That's a good set of instructions, I used them, but didn't do my outer bushings. All the rest works pretty good though.
