T/C Rod..?
Yup, the overriders and decorative bar are definitely mounted upside down.

it is more forgiveable to use
The obvious answer to me is that it depends on the owner's goal for the car. Speakling for myself, I'd like to stay as close to the factory look and styling as possible, while making improvements to performance and driveability using factory parts from later cars where possible.

Any more word on this Carl? I'd love to hear what if anything your contacts can tell us now that Goertz has passed.

Never seen a ZX like this one!
Ah yes, a rare picture of the elusive 260ZX in it's native environment. Let's watch as it sheds its cheap wheel caps and transforms into a common 260Z.

Finally got the Konig's, but have a question...
Thanks Marty. I will only be using these on the street for now. If I decide to start doing autocross, I may go with something else, but then again, these are fairly cheap. This is something i am planning on doing at some point and I belive I read somewhere that there was no problem.

It's a Pleasure to be a Z owner again!
Welcome to the forum and back into the fold.

Just got a 280Z! New to cars.
First of all, welcome to the forum. This is a great place for info on the 240-280Z cars, as well as some of the later models like the 280ZX. From the description of your engine, assuming it's accurate, it sounds like someone may have swapped the original L28 2.8L straight 6 engine out in favor of a Chevy 350cid "LT1" V8. That makes your car what we call a hybrid Z. This is basically a Z car with something other than the stock motor. Depending on your goals, this may be good or bad. As for being a JDM model, I was not aware that Japan got a 280Z but I could be way wrong on that. Someone please chime in on this topic. About learning to work on cars, I did that a long time ago in high school auto shop when they still had that sort of thing, and have been doing it ever since and enjoy it very much. I'm sure you will too. Here's a reference on the web I have used from time to time for knowledge or background on a particular procedure or subsystem. There's some general theory stuff and more courtesy of Toyota. http://www.autoshop101.com/ If you are more interested in hybrids, possibly like yours, check out www.hybridz.org

Friday - stuck in downtown Seattle
My company brought me to Seattle for our annual sales meetings, awards dinner, and company party. I'm staying in downtown Seattle and really don't need a car. Everything is within walking or $5 cab distance. Of course they are paying for everything. The best news is that I made it to this year's Presidents Club, won $$$ and a trip to Cabo San Lucas, and recieved the 2006 North American Sales Engineer MVP award. Woot!!!! Cabo Wabo, here I come!!!!!

Friday - stuck in downtown Seattle
No snow, it melted a few days ago in most areas. I'm just here for company meetings for the week without a car.

Valve Problem
Or perhaps your timing is not actualoly right, and the valves are making contact with the top of one or more pistons. I'd re-check the timing to make sure it's really as accurate as you believe.

Check the price on these door panels!
That's just silly......

Need a little advice
Some parts my be of use to those wishing to upgrade their 240's, however with that many miles, it's questionable as to whether the parts are still viable for a swap. Things we like 240Z owners typically like to grab from 280ZX's is the F54 engine block, 5 spd manual trans, 3.9 rear end if so equiped, distributor - minus the E12-93 module yours likely has, 60 amp alternator, 15/16" brake master cylinder, rear brake calipers, stock alloy wheels, and that's about it. They might be worth something to someone, but like I said, 300K is on the end of the range of acceptabiliy in almost all cases for these parts.

Rear tail light panel
I was thinkin' it before you said it.....

Can you identify this?
Or if it gets clogged. A very misunderstood and often overlooked part. Wait, what part were we talking about?
-
Ok, who swooped me?
I agree, I wasn't willing to go over $61. I'm going to make one of my own with some spare wrenches I have laying around.

Squeaky rear!!
The last time I checked, the best cure for a squeaky rear end was some Beano.

Ok, who swooped me?
I wanna know which one of my Z brothers swooped me on the valve adjustment tools listed on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260071738508

240z Metal Fuel Lines
That's the line that goes to the Flow Guide Valve which vents vapors from the evap tank into the engine. it's part of the emissions system and should be restored. Beandip said it best here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14415

E31 and E67
I thought all the L24's were based on the P30 block. I learn something every day here. The N36 intake manifold from a 260Z is rumored to have bigger runners but I don't think anyone has ever proven or disproved any benefit. I bought one nontheless.
