Congrats on your find. Looks like a great place to start. Nothing like having the Zedi Master lead you down the path to Zenlightenment.

Here's a link to Mike's article: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17688 or... Z-ondabrain can rebuild it for you.... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24304

Does anyone recognize this oilpan or know what the sensor is for? Is this aftermarket or an add-on? My stock 4/73 pan doesn't have this sensor. Just curious... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300145508512
  4. Dean, it's easy to criticize while sitting in our arm chairs, but other than a few extremely anal comments about specific wording, it seems to me that the majority of the comments here are positive. I wouldn't worry too much about it. While I'm sorry to see you getting rid of it, I'm sure it will go to a good home, and I applaud you for your hard work which helped keep another fine Z on the road. Cheers!
  5. Paint looks great. Congrats. Now all you need to really show it off is a decent camera, better lens, or a different choice of settings. Or is that just the doom and gloom of the PNW? jk

Digital video camera = $250 Paint repair for chips from gravel = $300 Hot chick in a Z getting sideways = Priceless Loved the video and style. I especially loved the two drift shots and the camera drive over. Not one of the better Floyd songs though, although I'm sure there's probably a reason you picked it. Great job on the editing.

    Mostly 1, a little 3, and definitely not 4.
  8. I purchased a D30 just over a year ago for my trip to Europe and I love mine as well, although it's a bit heavy for all day outings on foot. I only take it with me when I KNOW there's going to be things I want the best camera for. For casual events, hiking and family gatherings I grab the ultra compact Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX12. Great little camera with tons of user friendly features. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Panasonic/panasonic_dmcfx12.asp
  9. Mine arrived sometime between Thursday and Saturday. Not much help but hey, I was too busy between work and working on the car to check the mail. I haven't even had a chance to look at the new mag yet but I have to say that the physical qualities of the mag are excellent and I hope that never changes. As a long and dedicated Toyota owner, I haven't really paid much attention to Nissan or it's products since it dropped the Datsun name like a cheap whore. I was always a fan of the Z, 510 and the early Datsun pickups and felt like the product quality and the personality was lost after that. Even if it isn't true, that was always my perception. That said, things have come a long way since then, and I really appreciate the coverage of other vehicles. However, my cars are finally all paid off so I probably won't be buying another one anytime soon, and never again will I buy a new car. However, I'm really starting to like the G35 Sedan for a posh, reliable commuter, which would probably be a more responsible choice than the 2002 BMW M5 I've been drooling over. At any rate, I will be renewing my subscription, if for no other reason than I have something better than Vanity Fair to read when I'm sitting on the can.
  10. I actually like the Vett rear end on the Z, but not that extended square monstrosity.

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Look like a nice find. Let's see some more pics!

Using a jumper or starter trigger on the starter is a lot easier than using the key, unless you have buddy to help. Also, make sure to block open the pistons in the carbs to get maximum airflow and more accurate readings.
  13. Same issue for me. I'm pretty sure it's just their video streaming server or a general lack of bandwidth. Turning down the quality might help but I hate doing that when I have 15Mbit of throughput available to me.
  14. Hey Bruce, Classictube.com has a prebent steel or stainless tube for you but be prepared to empty you wallet to get it. I think they're around $95.
  15. I'm hoping my subscription hasn't expired. If not, i'll let you know when it arrives.
  16. Both Jegs and Summit are telling me that they're on backorder and won't be in any time soon, even though McGard says they have them in stock. I guess 1 order isn;t enought for these "big" distributors to order me a set........ I'm gonna try ordering them from sfxperformance. Maybe they'll give a $^!# about customer service.
  17. I grabbed some of these from eBay. That's the going price.
  18. Uhhhhh.....don't you mean bitchin' there wannabe surfer dood? jk
  19. Ok now it's been 4 momths and Summit continues to bump the "expected arrival" date out. I e-mailed McGard and they said they have them in stock and Summit should be able to fulfill the order. Apparently Summit has simply chosen not to. My guess is that they are waiting to get a number of orders in line before they order from McGard. Bastards! I can by them direct from McGard but they're twice the price! Still looking for an alternate source.
  20. Wow! Nice shots and a beautiful looking car. This is the first time I've actually liked that color.
  21. Kind of reminds me of my car. A year earlier and not as original mine was when I first got it, but more so than mine is now. However, I still have less rust and the original paint in and out, and the original seat covers. As far as Metallic Brown goes, I actually like it because it's not so common. Same as the butterscotch interior. But to each his own.

I think many people use a simple pipe wrench to get these off. I've never seen the type of gland nut you're referring to but this should still work.

I'd be a lot more worried about a 5-10lb speaker enclosure hitting me in the back of the head at 35mph+ that I would be about a coffee cup or a soccer ball. Neither the coffee or soccer ball are gonna kill me.
  24. What the heck are carter pins? Is this the official name for the spindle pins or those little wedges that hold them in place?
  25. The F54/P79 engine is from a 280ZX and the diff is an R200. You can tell because the cover is larger and more round than rectangular.
