  1. Hi Jim, Weird problem. The stock rubber on my 280z had ~ 7 to 8 threads showing when tensioned. I will guess it was factory at the point I swapped in poly then the ball and socket http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/suspension/comprod/index.html
  2. I think the gauge is dead. If so, don't try to burnish the bi-metal heater contacts inside as it will remove the special metal coating. Just try to bend them so that fresh metal touched fresh metal.
  3. If the pump cant draw gas to push due to a build up of vacuum in the tank trying to pull the fuel back from the line, the fuel bowls in the carbs will run empty (by the engine running) and the fuel pressure feeding them goes to 0 (rel. 1atm) as air goes back into the fuel lines from the bowls through the open needle valves.
  4. To verify fuel loss before carbs you can try a few things: Hood open and drive while viewing the fuel flow in a clear plastic filter or temporary clear vinyl line inserted before the carbs. Dead head the carbs so there is no return to tank. The only other things I can think of to mildly consider: ignition dropping floats hanging heat soak clogged fuel strainers in carbs pump failing/loose connection
  5. Those are "breaks" not "brakes".
  6. It looks like the rubber in the picture is just a round washer-shaped seal at each end of the spindle pin , not a bushing. You can remove the nuts to inspect and make sure.
  7. Hank, are you heading this way this summer? Looking forward to seeing you again.
  8. Dan, did you ever get a chrome ring? I had another good look at our barn storage but no luck. I have just one for vin 147 but that resto will be 3 down the road so I can send that to you if you still need one.
  9. Restoration Plan: 0. Disassemble and inspect everything. 1. Refresh as much as possible. 2. Measure, photograph, catalogue every nut, bolt, washer. 3. Plate all hardware 4. Plate all chrome 5. Take body to bare metal 6. Paint 8. Engine refresh (new seals, bearings, hone) 9. New rubber/seals where needed 10. Finish in less than a year for ZCON 2016

  12. I'm finally rolling up my sleeves and starting a "right proper" restoration. I'll be calling on all of you for guidance, information and support.... especially Mr Arnett.... and of course parts! Here is ground zero... coming into Canada a few years ago: Photos of the drive home from Maine to Nova Scotia
