  1. strange this didn't work b4
  2. and some more
  3. Found the part numbers if anyone is interested: 11110 15050 15200G 11232 11233 11220 X2
  4. I used to think of the Holden's and Fords as crappy cars but as of the last few years they have been getting much better, Independent rear suspension (finally), 350ci v8's and event talk about a 427ci v8, that's pretty cool! They have been getting bigger and more shapely as well (bigger than a maxima, well in over all size perhaps). "replacement for the Firebird and Camaro" - Holden Commodores have been around since about 1978 I think. I would have thought the Australians would have been more proud of their cars. Saying that if I had $100000 to spend on a car it wouldn't be a Holden (too common)

    a) 1/2 way through an RB25DET lots of info in this site and http://www.hybridz.org in particular (for skyline engines) http://www.hybridz.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=15;t=000125
  6. did you say $1500USD, that's pretty cheap, shame about the FWD, where did you find it?
  7. wow, expensive engine for a 240, check out http://www.hybridz.org for heaps of v8 conversion info you might need to strengthen the chassis with the 240z, maybe?
  8. what 1/4 mile times was that pulling again?
  9. Where are you? If in NZ RB20DET's are $1600NZD, RB25DET's are about $2800NZD if you can find one, RB26DETT's are heaps, never looked for one, nor seen any advertised (probably very hard to come by) but I have seen people talk in the region of $4500 but Cyong would be able to give a better price. this doesn't include the other expenses involved, you'd be hard pressed to do an RB conversion for under $2000 If your in Australia the RB30's would probably be cheap, failing that American / Australian v8's or L28 turbo's would probably be the cheapest option depending where you are. I saw a couple of Nissan V8's for sale recently but they were over $3000
  10. Also - reducing the weight is as good as giving it more hp check out http://www.240z.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1258&highlight=weight for weight reduction ideas
  11. I guess so, the L blocks inter-chage between them so it should be the same
  12. they usually come with the R32 or R33 gearbox when you buy the engine, mine cost $2800NZD ($1200USD) it came with the R32 gearbox and ECU attached, see http://www.hybridz.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=15;t=000125 for a good secription of what to do and the other bits you will need (oil sump, engine mounts, etc)
  13. what was the colour again?
  14. yes much eaisier to drop an already turboed engine in then shag around with a carbed turbo or even converting it to EFI first will take longer and cost more than a RB or L28 turbo, infact it would probably cost the same as buying the tripple webbers
  15. RB engines! (well depends where you are though) if your not in the US then a turbo RB Engine will give you more than enouth power RB20DET will give you 210hp to 400hp for way way less than 8000, and RB25 will give you 250hp - 500 for way less than 8000 and then there's the RB26DETT which will give you 280hp - 1300+hp depending on how much you want to spend. Cyong has a stock RB26DETT in his 240 and pulls 11.1's I think.
  16. Cyong: don't suppose you know the part numbers for the 200ZR oil sump and pickup or have you done it a different way?
  17. that's very helpfull, it just so happens my intake is currently stopping my bonnet from closing by about 15mm, didn't want to have to redo the engine mounts. any idea on what price these aftermarket intakes are?
  18. pretty cool that 235 RWHP is enouth to take out a 911 turbo, Viper and Z06 Vett. do you know what the weight is?
  19. Cuong: have you put a different intake manifold on?
  20. a RB26 would be cool but at the end of the day a RB20 with $1000 in mods will have the same hp as the standard RB26 and still cost $1000 less than the RB26 did to start with
  21. Excellent - well done!
  22. did a bit of reading on hybridz.com, couldn't understand what they were going on about with the z31 rb20det, I thought all z's from '84 onwards were v6's Z31 200ZR - 2L turbo (RB20DET) Jap only
  23. I'm 1/2 way through an R33 RB25DET conversion, it fits under the bonnet, sits as far back as the L24 did and I don't see any potential problems with it. RB30ET SOHC, there a little inefficient, 3L producing about 210hp compared to the RB25 producing 250hp at the same psi but I suppose that is without an intercooler. it is possible to put a Nissan DOCH RB head on the Holden RB30 block and / or intercooler it, that should bring up the efficiency thus hp. They should all have the engine mount holes in the same place and should all fit under the bonnet. the RB26DETT and RB25DET are the better standard engines but they all should supply enough hp after increasing the psi and other little bits to satisfy. try to get the engine with the wiring loom on it will make the job easier.
  24. damn, gotta have a LSD, like the idea of a R180 LSD rather than an R200 LSD, probably cost just as much to ship it over as it would to buy it though, damn and if I did buy it, it would probably delay my z from moving by a further month or so, damn, gotta keep focused on the needs rather than the wants
  25. need to know the year to make a good estimate, as much as I hate to say it, Honda is very good at getting hp out of their engines. if you win let us know, can't stand the thought of a "fuel efficient", "front wheel drive", "economical" granny's car that was never intended to be raced beating a thoroughbred car such as a Z.
