Gas cap change?
That is interesting. As you can see in the photo of the bottom of the top left one, this one has no chain or place to connect a chain. This is as early as you get for caps, it is off of a 69 production car. Can you take a photo of where the chain attaches on yours? I would be interested in seeing it.

Gas cap change?
I have a small collection of Gas Cap Assemblies. The early one is off of the 00029 car. Does anyone know when the handled / chained gas cap replace the early gas cap?

Z Mirror with no Day/Night Toggle?
I had one of these off of an early production car. I don't know if I sold it or if it is still in my parts stash. I will have to take a look this weekend.

FS: Restored Inspection Light
I will check the one on my car and also the NOS I have and see which ones they are. The one on my car would have been installed probably in 2012 when the restoration was being completed. I don't know the time period of the NOS one I have. I will post pictures tonight. If they are different from Jim's I just might have to add this to my collection. JLP

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Installed new choke cable with the kit that attaches it to the tunnel instead of the console. Put console back in place. Waxed wheels and put them back on and sat the car back down off the jack stands. Definitely sits lower with the Eibach springs. I can't wait to see how it feels with the Eibach springs, rear sway bar, and MK63 front brake upgrade. It will be awhile before I get to drive it. I still need the by-pass tube and then off to the body shop for realignment of body panels.

Need Hood Latch Assembly
As I am going through detailing my 72 I find that I want to find better parts throughout. I fought the hood latch this evening, thank goodness that I had the fenders off and was able to reach through and unbolt the male portion of the hood latch. I am looking for a NOS hood latch mainly the female portion but would also be interested in the male portion if I could find one. If anyone has one or know where one can be purchased let me know. Thanks JLP

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Disappointing night. I did get my valves adjusted but had to run the engine without coolant to warm it up, had to be very careful! I had ordered a new braided hoses for the engine and installed them the short transition hose was leaking, when I checked it out I found that it was corroded and had failed. I cannot find a NOS by-pass tube but am considering the tube offered by MSA. It does look a little different than the original. If anyone has a by-pass tube laying around let me know. I got the valves adjusted and then found that the AutoZone valve cover gasket was not made correctly. Overall disappointed in my progress and will be waiting for parts again.

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
http://www.boosterdeweyexchange.com/ This company rebuilt the booster for my FJ40 restoration. The booster is the one in the earlier post of my FJ40. I restored the case prior to shipping out for rebuild.

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
I am getting ready to adjust the valves prior to putting the refreshed valve cover on. I did take the time to wash the Z's garage mate the 72 FJ40 (restoration coming to completion).

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
I had a brake booster rebuilt for my FJ40 rebuild. I sent it out after I had restored the casing. I am trying to remember where I sent it he only rebuilds boosters. He had the proper rebuild parts and I believe that he charged less than $150. including parts.

My Hoarding of Z Parts
I forgot to mention my hoard of nuts, bolts, and brackets. When really board I wire brush nuts, bolts, and brackets from parted Z's and FJ40's and have them plated. I also have a tendency to buy a bag or two of JDM nuts and bolts from time to time.

[2017] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
I unrestored my valve cover! My valve cover was over restored. I polished it again and then blasted it with walnut shells. That gave it a nice original casting look without that over restored look. I like the results. Of course then I applied the P2 sticker to the front.

Anyone one here from the Dallas Area?
No, I made a site unseen offer and the person holding the sale would not take it due to me not being there in person and did not want to take a pal pal deposit. It sold for much less than my offer. I tried to buy the car from the individual who purchased it today and he was not interested at what I was willing to pay. He could have made $3,500 just for taking it home. A member did go take a look at it for me today and it is a nice original car, but I had to set a realistic limit on my offer. As Jim said to me it is still a 46 year old car and will need lots of work to totally refresh.

Details, Details
Kats, thanks for the compliment! I have been detailing the car all winter and updating some areas, as you know, I am waiting for a NOS choke cable and one last braided hose then off to the body shop for realignment of body panels. I will post some more pictures once complete. I was able to put some of the labels and stickers I had been holding onto in place now that I have completed more detailing. The following are the numbers on my 72 Vin followed by engine#. JLP HLS30 093606 L24-117627

- [SOLD] 240z 2400 valve cover
Thanks for the heads up. JLP- [SOLD] 240z 2400 valve cover
I will probably list one of my 2400 valve covers this weekend. The one pictured is off of the 00029 car, they don't come much earlier.- Anyone one here from the Dallas Area?
Jim, can I call you. The buyer has offered to sell me the car but I need to step back and take my time now that I am not under the gun. I would like to talk to you about the car and how I want to handle the possible inspection and purchase. Thanks Jerry- Details, Details
Worked on more details on my engine bay this weekend and evening. Refinished the Radiator (decals yet to be installed), Installed proper wrapped hoses and restored wire clamps. Waiting for heater control valve to complete the hose replacement.- Anyone one here from the Dallas Area?
Jim, I made a blind offer on the car and was to hear back by 6:00 PM. I assume that I did not get it. I had to make a low ball offer due to not being able to properly assess the car. I wish I had been able to purchase it. I would really like to have another Series 1 example. Thanks for the offer.- [SOLD] NOS Choke Cable
Not in the handle, but the cable is approximately 12" longer. The 72 like those before come out of the firewall on the drivers side and the 73's come out on the passenger side and cross the valve cover.- Anyone one here from the Dallas Area?
I was wanting to see if someone could put eyes on before I made the offer on a car in the area. I have made the offer, it is hard sight unseen for me to make such an offer, but I went ahead. We will see! - [SOLD] 240z 2400 valve cover
