  1. Excellent. Once I get around a dozen clips, I'll start to put it all together. I have only posted this here, but I guess I should post over at hybrid and zcar as well. Jmortenson--that is a sweet clip...and your system sounds nice too. The other videos showcase some nice rides and setups. I now have some more ideas for my car besides just exhaust. Keep em' coming!
  2. Fantastic idea!
  3. Hi all, I am thinking about adding something to the Z community. I have been researching a new exhaust system for my 1971 240Z. Right now I have a two-inch pipe, headers, and a turbo style muffler. It sounds good, but is on its way out. I have listened to many clips off this site and thought it a good idea to compile and gain as many diverse clips as possible. What I am trying to guage, is how many people would actually be interested in contributing to this project? I have a great host with a lot of storage and fast access. I am thinking of starting the site off basic and build it from there. Wouldn't it be awesome to listen to twin setups, with and without headers, different brand mufflers, and cams! Not to mention, I love any random video with a Z in it-period. Let me know what you guys think. Here is a brief video I threw together of my exhaust...and a couple donuts in a vacant parking lot... <a href='http://media.putfile.com/240Z-Exhaust' target='_blank'>Click here to watch '240Z-Exhaust'</a> ---Jonathan
  4. The only reason I said that, is that it seems I have read in half a dozen posts how he went 180+ in his other car. I'm not into adrenaline rushes from doing that, but different strokes for different folkes. In the end, you can't predict what is going to happen in a public area. This is irregardless of the driver's abilities, car setup, or how much control one has over the variables(spotters). Again, to each there own. I just think about my dogs running around or children being children and not paying attention...
  5. I don't really understand what the point of going that speed is? Is it bragging rights? Nothing can be gained by going that speed. We all test our cars at one point or another, but you have a desire to do something so incredibly dangerous. I feel you are looking at the safety factor in such a blind manner. You can't predict what is going to happen. Isn't that a farm in your picture? Unfortunately, you have to learn some things for yourself. No matter how many times people tell you not to do something...we usually do them anyway. You really need to consider the fact that you WILL, regardless of how you perceive your homes roads, be putting other people's lives in danger at one point or another. I know a girl who is from Iowa who said the roads are just as you describe. She said she used to read books while driving for stretches of an hour and not ever see another car on the road. Even if you wrecked and survived and nobody died...think about the investment lost on your vehicle that you are restoring. All the time, labor, money, thought and love poured into her....
  6. What kind of muffler was that z sporting? It looked and sounded great.
  7. My Z is white and I love it. However, it's a chore to keep clean. With white cars you can go with chrome wheels or you can do a white on black contrast theme. With mine, I have black mesh enkei 92 rims and am about to put on a nice tint. It really looks nice with the chrome trim all the way around. I know picking the right color can be a tough decision...good luck!
  8. That ALL looks like a lot of fun! Living in the city, I often wish there were some good country roads I could fool around on. Keep em' coming
  9. I don't think wheels are the only thing your smoking...have fun!
  10. I did indeed buy my car from Mike. I have had it almost a year now. Is he on this board I wonder? The original engine was replaced with a L26.
  11. Mine had the exact same problem awhile back. In the end it turned out to be a poor connection I had made to the ignition module after doing the ZX upgrade. It did what you describe. The noise and poor running only when the tach bounced. My car got to the point where it would stall and then start and stall repeatedly. Simply retwisting the wire and tightening the connection made it right. Hope this helps, Jonathan
  12. Great idea! I would love to know if a sibling is closer than I think. 1971 240Z---build date 12/70---vin#HLS30(16831)

Here is a link I found doing a quick search that is interesting: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16259&highlight=barrel Welcome to the club!
  14. The whole point, is that he has the right to speak his mind in this country. People join the military for all kinds of reasons. Some have too much "balls" and not enough brains to do anything else. Some want to travel the world and do a service while they're at it. Some need money to get a higher education. And so forth...Two of my best friends are in Iraq and I hate the current administration for its lies and agenda. Your view to gag and kick him out is as narrow as his view on the soldiers.
  15. All sound like really good ideas. I have to work tomorrow and will go through the list tomorrow evening. Thanks!!
  16. Hey all, My car is hesitating under low rpm acceleration(under 3000). All tune-up parts in good condition, valves, spark, fuel. What is happening is that the car hesitates and then goes normally when the rpms are higher. The really odd thing, is that it will do this all over town but after I come off the interstate after going a constant high speed the problem dissapears and the car runs great. I was thinking that maybe air was getting into the fuel line somewhere? Is that possible without fuel coming out? Maybe it's in the carbs? The float lines are plyable and the choke is in with the adjustments just where I want them. Just wondering if somebody has experienced anything similiar to this before to point me in the right direction. Thanks, Jonathan
  17. It's neat to see the commercials and advertisements they have collected. I have seen the one for the 240, but not the 260.
  18. I do have comprehensive and they said it would cover it. The driver of the van is from mexico with so-so english skills. I did ask him and he said no... The bad thing, is that I have to keep parking there and this is my daily driver. I have been parking in the area for a couple years now with no incidents. Bubble wrap? Custom foam cover? Burly bodyguards with Z's tattooed on their biceps?
  19. Given the circumstances, I think it would be really hard to prove a case with the van. There were no witnesses. I'm sure people saw it, grimaced, and kept walking. His bumper sustained zero damage besides the paint smudges. It probably was the van, but I can't even say that besides a fishy scenario that he did it either...convenient...but not a 100%. I don't doubt it for a second. The rep said it was being recorded as a "no fault". Time will tell. I'm suprised that aftermarket fender is so inexpensive. I would have thought it to be double/triple that amount. ---Jonathan
