  1. As long as there have been dual carburetors on the L24, there have been 2 cable ends controlling the chokes (1 for each carb). It's actually one LOOOONG cable with both ends attached to a carb, and the "middle of the cable" loops around the choke lever arm. It was done that way 70-73 at least.
  2. "Fairlady Z's" were not officially imported to the US by Nssan/Datsun. Some of the models that you mentioned were available in other markets around the world. Certain head castings were used in certain years. A Buyer could not specifiy which head he wanted his 240Z to have (unless the dealer just happened to have a car with that head in stock).
  3. I haven't shopped Sunbelt for prices, but $3K-$5K will not get you very far into "Rebello Racing territory". Jasper Engines will chage close to $2K for a stock rebuild, plus shipping. ATK will charge around $2K+ for a rebuilt exchange engine as well.
  4. Yeah, Lot's of guys don't replace the head bolts, but I would strongly recommend that you do so, whenever you decide to pull the head next.
  5. This is the first time you've voiced this explanation. Every time we have discussed it in the past you have used the explanation below (including earlier to day) which makes it sound VERY MUCH like images are be guarded by the "Keeper of the Gates". No mention of bugs there I said it doesn't matter if one or many people deleted images in response to your assertion that many people HAD deleted images. I stated that IMO they have a right to do so, where you were complaining that they had done so. The issue (ability to manage our own images) matters to me, but it doesn't matter to me if 1 or 1000 people delete their images. Sorry. But it seems fishy. At a time when the "delete" function had already been disabled, he was able to delete images. I'm not pointing a finger directly at you. There have been other "Super Moderators" who may/could/ possibly have been involved. As for why he did it (after he was dead!), I think that we can surmise that it was either part of his disappearing act, or done in retaliation for the club publicly discussing his dishonesty and faked death. It sure wasn't done because he liked the club. No one is "at fault", but YES I am right. You gave your explanation (since changed) and then I gave mine in response to the questions that you asked. Your implication that I spoke my mind and you hadn't done so, was completely false. (If that wasn't your implication, what were you saying?)
  6. Well, how bad is the oil leak down the side of the block? I drove a 240Z with what I call a minor seep at that area for 2 or 3 years without any problems. (I just wiped the area clean periodically and kept an eye on it) I could have driven it further, but due to an accident and the need to switch all my "goodies" to another chassis, I had the time to rebuild the head and replace the head gasket. How hard did you try to loosen the head bolts? They are torqued to 60 lbs/ft and have been subjected to countless heat/cooling cycles. Sometimes it takes some strong effort to start them to loosening. PS, That area is where an oil passage goes up into the cylinder head to supply oil to the top-end of the engine.
  7. Not sure what you mean when you say " I warmed it up pop the valve cover to re torque the head and it is maxed out". "What" is maxed out? What, Where, and How is the head gasket leaking? (What fluid? Leaking Where? How bad?)
  8. Read my post. I said IIRC (If I Recall Correctly) Frankly it doesn't matter anyway. If even one person wants to delete their content they should be able to do so. Who the hell are you to hold thier property hostage? Frankly it doesn't matter anyway. If even one person wants to delete their content they should be able to do so. Who the hell are you to hold thier property hostage? How good are the logs? Do they tell you how ZmeFly was able to delete his gallery when no one else could do so?? That's the individual's choice, not your's or mine. "We" lost NOTHING. It was never "ours" in the first place!!!! I don't have the logs. I have less info than you, but I find in quite odd that at a time when NO ONE else could delete images he was able to do so and management doesn't know how it happened. Please read the thread again. YOU got your point across prior to me doing so. I responded to your post and inquiry, remember? Had you left it at that, I wouldn't be posting now but I won't let these statements stand without response. :tapemouth Even when some of that content is being held hostage and the owner of it doesn't want it on the site any longer? Very Odd Indeed. Seems, IMO to indicate an attitude of ownership that doesn't really exist.
  9. Bingo! Well Said!

  12. Yes I am serious, it's because of the rules. I don't agree with them and will not submit information that I cannot control. (same issue that you were concerned about with your "biggest contributors"). Catch 22, huh? IIRC only 2 people that I know of "deleted their whole gallery" and one of them (ZmeFly) did it after the "rules" had been changed to prevent deletion. To an outsider, it appears that he had "inside" help to accomplish that. And anyway, What's it to you if they do delete the images that they own? The pictures BELONG to them (not you or I), just as the images of the "biggest contributor's" belong to them. Surely you don't believe that once they are posted the images belong to you? Your business partner sounds like a salesman, and you know what I think of salesmen. :devious: Let's not get into this unproductive discussion again. You know where I stand, I know where you stand, and neither of us is going to change anything. It's pointless to continue.
  13. Some of us quit contributing in protest to the restrictions including the loss of ability to delete our own pictures. :devious: I had 2 more illustrated Tech Articles almost ready to post..........

Short Steering knuckles? BUY THEM! They are great. (Where can you get them? I thought they were NLA from Nissan)
  15. Aussie Dollars. $24,000.00 AUD......... =...............$19,070.18 USD Australia Dollars...........................United States Dollars http://www.xe.com/ucc/
  16. Clean your battery cables?
  17. I see. Still think I'd try pinching the nipple to ensure that it can open (couldn't hurt) but I have no other ideas. Frankly, I've not seen a Tie-Rod built like that on any of the 3 Z's that I've owned. The bottom area has been "solid" in that area on the ones that I've seen. Will, are your OEM ones like that? Was that a "Jeb" or "George" bush oyster? I couldn't tell.

, Yeah, my Dad said the same thing about "Oh, the color that the Cops like" when I bought my 110 Red 1973 240Z (I was 25 at the time), but the funny thing was that I never, ever got a ticket in it in the whole 5 years that I drove it. It wasn't because I didn't speed in it either. I guarentee that!.

  20. Not sure I understand where the grease is overflowing from. Do you mean that grease comes out from around the bottom of the boot (where the circular spring secures the boot to the housing? Maybe squeeze the "overflow nipple" on the boot to make sure it opens to allow grease to come out. That's the only thing I can think of.

You mean HOUSE paint? Wow. A neighbor kid (lives across from my parents) painted his whole Chevy truck with Rattle cans of black paint last summer. :stupid: I know what you mean. Lots of the Daddy sponsored cars here in my town. Spoiled little rich kids. When I see them at our local In N Out Burger they are mostly acting like Vanilla Ice or that Jami Kennedy charecter "B-Rad" Cracks me UP, everytime!
  22. Yeah, I meant "save". You're right about downloading
  23. Interesting explanation of how the system works. Thanks. Only one question....Why? We can't download images.
  24. It's possible. It seems that things have changed on the website. In the past the website had a file size limit of around 600Kb for images. Judging from the file sizes that he's posted to day 100-200Kb, it seems that his explaination of a slower dial up modem speed has something to do with it. It would be unusual to reduce the file size one is sending at the time that one gets a faster connection.

You're right about that in terms of design, but I haven't seen body work as rough as some of what I saw on that page in a long time.
