  1. I looked on your site Kats impressive work indeed. I read about your alternator and how you said it might not be original I think your correct. It appears it may be a ZX internally regulating alternator, a good way to double check would be to look for the voltage regulator in your engine bay. I think it's usually on the right hand side the side with the spark plugs. Gav

  4. couldn't help myself but add fuel to the fire maybe i have too much time on my hands. But money doesn't buy taste that's for sure hehe.
  5. What Victor says definately even from the 1 picture. It's funny though in American 240z's must be easy to come by cause here in Australia there rare as Hen's teeth. $2000 is what you would pay for a car as posted above. I've seen some crap cars here however and the best examples are worth in some cases $20k. Back on topic though don't buy that rust bucket get as much of that $900 back.

  7. On these it's very hard to tell an actual price as you don't see many for sale in Australia. The stock 280zx one is ok and i've seen 1 for about $50 but it depends on how good condition it is sometimes they warp and crack. Alot of people get custom made ones as you can easily fit a bigger wastegate which you will eventually need later on to get higher power figures. The turbo 280zx also came with a different intake manifold or plenum to the non turbo version and the distrubutor was also different. The stock computer was different on turbo and it was different between auto and manual also but they arn't that good anyway. Alot of people fit a larger TB usually 65mm and i'm told an XF falcon one can be used as we didn't get a 240sx here. I have estimated getting a turbo engine into my Z but have no doubt it will cost me at least 6k to do. I already have a L28 with P90 head ideal for boosting. You can go cheaper and get a carbie turbo set up but not a very good way to go IMHO. Gav
  8. My seats arn't too bad but the drivers one is ripped on the side. I am not sure if they are the original pattern or not as they are not completely vinyl they are some form of material on the middle part where the vents used to be. Or at least I believe my car is a 72 and may have had them redone at some stage I'm not 100% sure. They feel a bit saggy too the foam may be alright but if I'm gonna restore them i want them to support me otherwise I'll go with Racing seats for sure. I'm told you can foam them up and achieve a relatively good feel in there but haven't confirmed for myself just yet. I'll try attach a photo but I'm afraid I only have a digital camera in my phone so it will probably not turn out so good. I think they look good in the car from the outside especially hence the reason I want to go original or close to.
  9. not sure if they are the same but these look very good. http://www.datsunrestore.com/catalog.html Goto the 240z section you should find them there. I am tempted to get them but I will need the underlying foam and I've decided it's only a bit more for racing seats so I put that poll up hehe. We will see in time but I am very tempted to go orig. Gav
  10. What about safety? I don't think a Hyundai is anywhere near safety standards. I don't like em' 1 bit if you look into their interiors they just look plain and cheap. Maybe they are getting better but they still have a very very long way to go. I think Honda make a very good product in terms of interior/paint/finish and the motors seems to be good if you get them serviced as they should be. Likewise for Toyota except i find Toyotas to be a little less compared with a Honda in quality. I know the Z's interior has it's qualms but have you ever pulled a panel off these cars? it's a wonder they don't flop like tin foil, I know the idea of a car is to crumble and absorb the energy in a crash but that should be more chassis related than panel related. Bah i'll get to my point I just think that article is bollocks and that it's been twisted with statistics that could be taken from any source and for all we know Hyundai paid them to put a good word in. Nuff said .
