Toyota 2000GT interest
on the contrary I think the 2000GT closely relates to the 240z and is not off topic. Thanks for the pics of a truely amazing automobile.

pics of the Z
I've spoken to you before about them and think what you've done looks nice I'm still not 100% on either of them. I am thinking I'll just put the stock hood back on and if I want ventilation I'll just graft them into some inspection lids. I await a few photos of your hood when you get time to see if it's worthwhile for me to venture down the same path. If you look in my gallery you can see i painted them black but I still can't get over the floor heater style.

Engine runs only when choked...
Sounds to me you need to readjust your carbs. if anything when changes things like this over often they will need readjusting.

do you have velocity stacks under those filters? if not I'd recommend going to the stock air box again.

really nice car but this is just my opinion i think it would look even nicer with early 240z style bumpers on front and back. If you like the front then just the back would be 50% better.

Voltage Regulator on the fritz?
hang on are you talking about teh alternator or the VR here?
-
Voltage Regulator on the fritz?
Ok guys thanks for the advice yes I have an IR alternator but it will need a rebuild. So far i havent had a repeat of the problem i think it only happens after its been in traffic for a long time with stuff like the lights, stereo and heater on at the same time. I haven't confirmed this yet though. I haven't checked the alternator belt but it's a good idea last time I had a problem like this it was the belt getting too loose and causing the car to do all sorts of stuff.

Voltage Regulator on the fritz?
The VR in their atm is not the original one anyway. I have a ZX internally regulated Alternator also that I've been considering but until the car starts causing some more headaches I'm not sure.

Voltage Regulator on the fritz?
Ok that sounds like a good idea. It's only really started doing it recently I guess it could be a few things but strange it fixes itself up. To me that could be as you say the vr getting stuck or making poor contact I'll give it a try and see how it goes. With your situation anything over 12V should be fine but if your battery is always flat it could be the actual battery or the alternator not sure if you've checked those.
