bouncing tachometer
If it's not an electrical problem, You may need a new tach. Datsun tach and speedo gauges use a dampening oil between two plates in a chamber. The viscosity of the oil transfers the spin from the signal plate to the needle plate, smoothing out the needle's travel. Somtimes the oil "Disappears" (I don't know how or where it goes), and the gauge gets very "Jumpy" indeed.

Clutch Choices
I'm needing the same info. I've got my flywheel at Top End Performmance for resufacing and lightening. TEP is selling Dankin performance clutch. Don't know if that's better or worse than the Centerforce models.

Removing tar?paint, Z barr?
Your local hardware store will have a product known as Goof-off. It's a Naptha based cleaner that may cut the undercoating and not the paint

Fairlady Roadster sighting in WA. OZ.
Enrique, We're waiting for you on the roadster list! It would be hard for me to pick which car I love more. My Z is sleek like a 60's jet fighter. The roadster is built like a bulldog. My Z is smooth, the roadster is Solex powered, cam happy rude. Nothing beats the turn-in, razor sharpness of the roadster, but the Nismo springs beat you to a pulp. But, if you were to drive it on a tight mountain road, you'd know love too. I have room in my heart for both. Well, maybe room for a 510 as well.

Z availablitity
Even though the collectorcartrader allways seems to have quite a few, I don't see hardly any 240/260's on the road. Lots of 280's and even more S130's. Most of the 240's I do see are parked under a tree, no longer gleaming Fairladies, just tired old ladies. When I hit the lotto, I intend to take a few of them to a spa!

mpg?
No matter how you do it, you need lots of data. I have a log book and enter into it religiously. MPG varies from 23 ~ 10. Average 15 MPG - But I have a very heavy foot.

Removing dash?
When I did this, I went in trough the front by removing the heater/vent panel. But, in my case, I had an intire "laundry list" of items to care for while the dash was apart. I changed the clock, oil pressure/water temp gauge, light bulbs for the amp gauge and cig lighter, Installed the stereo and changed out the heater panel for a better one. Only after the fact, while looking over my trashed glove box, did I relize I could get at the clock via that route.

This is one of those subject where the search fuction is just too usefull! Before you start, check out Kyle's write up on the deal. It really helped me through the job. It's really not a hard task, studing and preparing first will keep it that way! Front Suspension Rebuild Howto

Help!!!!!!
Ok, That's a relay, added by the Previous owner to help the headlight curcit. Your starter soliniod has three posts on it. 2 large posts and 1 spade post. The top large post will have the + battery lead connected to it and (At least) on other wire. That wire is the power supply to the fuse box. a problem there will show as no power to anything. The bottom large post will have nothing connected to it. Well, not really nothing, It will have a lead from the soliniod to the starter motor itself. The spade connection is the signal from the key. Turn the key and 12 volts goes to this spade, energizing the soliniod which does 2 operations. It pushes out the drive gear to engage the flywheel and it closes the BIG 12 volt circuit to the starter motor. If there's a bad connection on the spade connector, your starter will do nothing. Just like you described.

Close encounter of the second kind! (350Z)
Obviously, It doesn't matter which continent your on. I spied a silver 350Z in Glendale, about 1/2 block ahead of me. I sped up, cut a few lanes and pulled up next to him. No recognition from the 350Z driver, nada, zip. Ok, screw it. The road opened up ahead of me. I drop her into second and pull away WOT.

1973 KPGC110 "Ken&Mary" Skyline for sale $4500
To tell the truth I've been tempted. Ever since Alfadog annouced his purchase. I always liked the U.S. market 610 coupe, Well, here's it's big brother. And of course without the ugly, giant US market bumpers. I'm a sucker for an "exotic" Datsun. I wanted to buy that 67 CSP-311 Silvia that was for sale in the Bay Area last year, but knew I'd never fit in the dam thing.

Thanks Alan, Do you think I might be able to get an Oscillator unit from one of the specialty shops in Japan? Spirt Garage maybe?

Rally clock features
Mine was installed in a 72 HLS30 U.S. Market. I don't know how it got there. I heard that the car was a special order by the Mayor of Hunington Beach (That Explains the Rust!), in 71. It is a clock and a stop watch with adjustable bezel. pressing the left knob resets, zeros, the sweep hand. turning the left adjusts the bezel. Pressing the right starts/stops the sweep hand. pulling it out adjusts the clock. Anyway, without it's power box, it's just a decoration on my coffee table.

Assembly tag
Absolutly Alan! Thank you again for your valued input. I believe this was the tag found under the dash trapped by the pedal box. It looks like I may have lost the other sheet found tucked into the body. I could see no evidence of any handwritting in the fields as well. If it faded, it left no impression on the paper.

Assembly tag
Mike, It was HLS30 48255. I bought it 2/26/01 as my first Z. I bought it without studing what to look for and it turned out to be alright looking but a rust basket case. Just a year later, I was searching for a better car. Now, all the best parts of that car live on in my present 72. The rest is stored under the house. The body is tuna cans by now. RIP HLS30 48255 She looked good polished up but rotten to the core Engine Compartment
