Lap Timers
Thanks raman. Sounds like a good idea to replace the old type clock. What functions does the digital clock perform ? Any extra wiring required to install and get it fully functioning ina 240Z ?

Lap Timers
Were lap timers ever an option (factory or dealer) for Z's ? Attached is a picture of a Japanese Kanto Seiki unit which is reputed to have been supplied to Nissan.

Window winder spindle
Hi Mat, I guess it would be a shame to part the spindle from a good regulator unless the regulator teech themselves were shot. I was hoping someone might have one of these to canabalise but no responses along these lines yet. Give it a few more days and see what happens. I'll ask the guys in the UK if they have a good regulator to sell as an option and just replace the whole assembly. Thanks for your help. Regards, Dave

Window winder spindle
Thanks for your help. I guess this could have been possible but surely re-rivetting would have been a much simpler option than using welded-in threads & nuts to secure the cover ?

Window winder spindle
No problem Ed. If they're riveted then I think it is an earlier or later type as nuts hold the cover on the one I have. Thanks for looking though. Dave

Window winder spindle
Thanks Ed. Good question. I've just checked the Motorsport catalogue and it looks like there were 3 different regulator types for 1970-73, 1974-76 and 1977-78. I've attached more photo's of the regulator I've got so that you can check. The spindle is simply removed by undoing the 3 nuts on the rectangular shaped cover. Let me know if you can help - I've PM'd you too. Cheers, Dave

Window winder spindle
Passenger side (although it looks interchangeable with driver side) window winder spindle wanted for 1975 260Z. This is the one encapsulated in the regulator mechanism and directly attaches to the winder handle - see photo. Ideally I do not want the whole regulator due to weight/shipping costs to the UK. USPS letter post preferred. Thanks guys, Dave (PS also posted in Clasified ads wanted section).

Loose shifter, type A tranny
Just out of interest, I have managed to obtain a Type A 5 speed box for my US 1970 240Z from an early RHD UK model. This allows me to have the 5 gears available without needing to modify or swap the original centre console for the later type. Was this gearbox also available in the US ?

IMSA ZX V8 Turbo
Can somebody please point me in the right direction regarding detailed technical specifications of the Budweiser/Pioneer sponsered IMSA ZX V8 No 33 car. I'm particularly interested in the front tubular chassis frame and one piece bonnet/wing section. Was this a success compared to the standard body design ? Has anyone replicated this and currently has a working car ? I presume the original car is sitting in someones collection ? Thanks, Dave

Console repair: How to patch holes?
Can you buy the 'texture sheets' separately ? How well/easy do they work and can you get good results as I need to re-texture my series 1 console in some places. What about taking imprints from other parts - what's the best material to make a 'press' from ?

70-71 Choke plate
Sorry for hijacking this thread but can someone tell me the story behind why there seems to be two types of 70/71 choke plates. One has a full length (to match the choke slot) throttle slot and the other is shorter. Which came earlier ? Thanks.

Dealer Option Mirror and Tonneau Cover
Just negotiated a deal on this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7929626586 The cover is unused and comes with the fitting instructions. May not be the earlier type but looks in great condition for the money. . Surprised that no one bid for it ? Perhaps the asking price was too high ?

Series 1 Tool Box Hinges
Just to let you guys know that I won a pair of nice tool boxes including the original hinges of Ebay for $28 plus shipping. Not bad hey ?

Ignition Coils on early 240Z's
Did the lead-end on ignition coils on early Z's ever face the opposite way ie. towards the windscreen. Sure I've seen photo's showing this ?
-
Series 1 Tool Box Hinges
I've tried the 'Wanted' Forum but no luck so can anybody get hold of a pair of hinges for my series 1 tool boxes please ? Perhaps just a photo because I guess they are simple to copy ? Never seen any. Thanks, Dave (UK)

diamond vinyl cleaning
Andy, Naphtha in the UK is known as 'Coleman Fuel' and apparently is used in camping stoves - presumably therefore you can by it from camping stores ? I'll be looking for some myself and trying it out on a recently purchased 2nd hand diamond vinyl set. Cheers, Dave

gear lever welding - fitting 72 gearbox into 70 car
Andy, Bambikiller240Z has exactly described how my 1970 has been modified for the 5 speed box. However, in order to fit the original centre console you still need to bend the stick a little, or change the centre console to a later type. PS. Have you received the heater switch OK ?

Clips for 240Z spare tyre cover
Are these still available new from Nissan - part no. 74973-E4100 ? If not has anyone got 3 s/h ones for the UK ? Thanks.

Series 1 Hatch Vent Grills
Thanks for confirming that guys. I learn something new about my Z every day !
-
Series 1 Hatch Vent Grills
Just curious. Were the hatch vent grills on early 240Z's always made of plastic or were they ever cast from alloy like the badges ? I've never seen metal vent grills advertised or mentioned ?

Wanted - early 240Z parts
Thanks for the offer Bill. Unfortunately these will be the later type. The ones I'm after are for the vertical plastic boxes. I think yours will be for the metal horizontal ones. Regards, Dave
