  1. Ian - Turbocharge it a la Protege MazdaSpeed... The Protege engine is the same as in the Miata, so performance parts are available...or bolt on a supercharger... GWGarrard

Justin - Try running the numbers through a tire size comparison - and pay particluar attention to the revs/mile... http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp Sorry - no experience with the 195/60-14s GWGarrard
  3. Zak - If you do need extra pieces, you should be able to pick up the individual lines at Canadian Tire with the metric fitttings (purple?)....Just remember to account for any needed bends in the line when you choose the length. Regards GWGarrard
  4. Bryan - I run Yoko Avid V4s on both my street Altima and Honda Odessey van. Depending on the size of the tire purchased, Yokos default to either a H or V speed rating. Go to http://www.yokohamatire.com/ The 205/60x15 is H rated, the 205/55x15 is V rated. I've had Yoko Avids on 2 Maximas and now the Altima and Odyssey...You can see I prefer the Yokos. Several fellow Zed'rs here have the Yoko Avid ES100s...They are an excellant tire in both rain or shine... I have Toyo Proxes 4s on my Z (I wanted a quasi-R compound...) GWGarrard
  5. SJGreen71 = I suggest you contact Paul Gasporla at Avalon Racing in Lebanon (http://www.avalonracing.net/main.htm). He is the current ZCCA president, and should be able to provide some suggestions on back roads. Heck, he might even have a Z available... GWGarrard

I've removed the spacers to put a slant to the seat (ie removed 1 pair in the rear - kept both pairs on the front bolts)...works fine. Enigma - Don't see why you can't remove all and lower the whole seat for increased roof clearance....Should work fine ...(you could thread them on under the seat brackets for storage??) GWGarrard
  8. Cali - When you get your brakes done, drive around the block and jump on the brakes a couple of times...the suspension needs to settle. The Tokico HPs should give you the original ride height if you didn't install shortened springs. You should be fine. GWG
  9. Spdkilz02 - Try Charlie Osborne of Zeddfindings for used wiring harnesses and fuseboxes - he usually has a few available... his email is zeddfind@kos.net and webpage is http://www.datsunzparts.com/ GWGarrard
  10. Zak - Can't comment on the quality of Pioneer parts, but have you checked with Greg Whitehead of Whitehead Performance at 416-665-2220, or Charlie Osborne of Zeddfindings in Kingston (613-389-1397 http://www.datsunzparts.com/ ) for prices? Both support the local Ontario Zed Car Club and Thousand Island Zed Car Clubs... You would save on shipping and duty costs.... Regards GWGarrard

Jeff and Ed - The 260Z and 280Z 2+2's are both structurally the same. If the car in the wrecking yard is a 280ZX then the floors will be different. GWGarrard

Jeff - Any chance the 2 seater floors could be grafted to the 2+2? If the rust is at the front of the floors, perhaps you could "graft" in new floors to your existing? Another option would be to ask Charlie at ZeddFindings if he would consider making you a "custom" set...Can't hurt to ask... Regards GWGarrard

Aren't the luggage strap holes threaded (ie - nut welded underneath the floor) - These holes look as though they aren't threaded, so I would guess they are "extras"... GWGarrard
  14. Mark - Osgoode is 30 kilometres south of Ottawa - actually with the recent rural amalgamation we are now part of the City of Ottawa (up go my taxes...). Zeds... '72 240 and '83 280ZXT 2+2 (family zed) GWGarrard
  15. Mark - I'll trade my garage (no heat) for yours...?? The long range forecast from Environment Canada says you'll be see a warm spring, so you have something to look forward to:) Regards from Upper Canada GWGarrard
  16. Gregg - Another consideration - especially for the long tow between Houston and Hamilton - disconnect and remove your half-shafts. Although it will not hurt the manual transmission if you don't, it will minimise the risk of something that is packed in the car accidently banging the shifter into gear at highway speeds. A friend experienced that situation with his car once when he hit a bump and the racing tires loaded in the hatch shifted...
  17. Gregg - Many moons ago ('81) my brother and I towed his '71 back from Vancouver with a homemade tow bar. The tow bar was bolted to the bumper mount points (ie -remove your bumper shocks in the picture and bolt the tow bar there). Remember to allow the tow bar to pivot otherwise you'll torque the front-end... And use safety chains...at both ends. Regards GWGarrard

Chris - If I may, I would like to take your comment one step further, and thank you, Carl, Alan, Dave and everybody else on this site for freely sharing your knowledge and expertise... This is where I come to learn... Thanks GWGarrard

jfurebul - Friend in similar situation tossed the electronic shocks and used aftermarket gas cartridges...I believe he went wiht Tokico's See http://www.cardomain.com/ride/639938/3 GWGarrard

Dat240Z - Go to www.tizcc.ca and watch the opening page cycle thru- the silver 72 is running 225/50/15's on 15x7 wheels. Jeff's car is set up with coil-overs etc for slaloming... Then go to http://www.tizcc.ca/Jeffs.htm and scroll down to more pictures of the same car... The orange Z (Orange pumpkin) at http://www.tizcc.ca/marcs.htm is also running 225/50/15's but on 15x8 rims...(scroll down for close-ups) Hope this helps... GWG
  21. Palmer - For what it's worth (my experience of KYB versus Tokico is admittedly on a 280ZXT), I found the KYBs' (Gas-Just model) raised the car approximately 1 inch with the stock springs. The ride was "solid" but not uncomfortable. I switched to Tokico "blue" (non-adjustable) shocks and changed the stock springs to Eibachs which lowered the car to approximately 1 inch below original ride height. The ride is comfortable, and not overlly stiff Body sway is definitely reduced. I didn't try the combination of Tokico shocks and stock springs. Regards GWGarrard

CarKid - It might be worth finding a local Z car person to help you decide. The Windy City Z Car Club is Chicago based, but their membership is spread out and I'd bet a club member lives nearby. http://www.windycityzclub.com/ I'd also be concerned about driving a Z in the winter. Z's don't like snow and hate road salt... GWGarrard
  23. This might complete the circle for you - seems the car in question has been posted on cardomain with a new owner... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2207157 GWGarrard

If it's of any help - the console in the photo with the blue background is the same as in my '72, build date 09/71. There are no fittings for padded armrests. I would concur that the second photo is of a later model (perhaps 280Z ?) because of the radio mounts integrated into the console...(just a guess though) GWGarrard
