  1. Ok all ..I love the z's ..Always have . Buy really they are not in the same class as the 60's corvette. These cars 1967 in particular , is really the best muscle car ever built. IMHO .. I really cant find a weakness with these cars.
  2. I am using 10-30 oil. I am not sure there is a problem at all. I feel it would be nice to see the pressure abit higher. The guage does move. It reads higher when car is cold and when revs are higher.
  3. thanks guys .. I bought the unti from Nissan .. the lead to the unit is clean like new and making good contact .. but I will check it again. I will also try the test Virto suggested. Cheers ..Bruce

On my 77 280 .. I know I need to overhaul the entire suspension, but right now I have a noise when I take off from a stop especialy when car is cold. It sounds like is comes from the back end and like a slipping kinda grunt. Any ideas what this is? Thanks ..Bruce
  6. tokico or kyb ?? what is better .. ??
  7. Hi all .. My oil pressure shows low on the guage. I dont think the oil pressure is actualy low. The oil level is fine. I have replaced the sending unit and (70$ latter) it made no difference. Should I put in thicker oil and see if that makes a difference. Is there a oil pressure tester I could try to see what the pressure actualy is? I know these motore have a very good oil pump. I dont really know the milege of this motor as the speedo has been changed. It does not burn oil and runs very well. It pulls hard up hills and sounds great .. no lifter noise even. Any help or comment would be great Thanks and Cheers Bruce Ü
  8. yep .. order a new one from the Nissan dealer. they are easy to get. When you take this ole one out ..I would be spraying some penatant on it now .. the nut you see is like a sleeve the fits over the temp sensor and it needs to be twisted, cut, pushed, tapped, drilled ... off the nut very carefully so you dont damage the nut. The clean it up well and slip it over the new temp sensor (it will be easier overthe new one that off the old one). Install it and you will be all set. BTW I also ordered and 83 degree thermostat from Nissan so my car will run a bit cooler than the regular 90 ish thermostat you can find.good to do this at the same time. Cheers ..Bruce
  9. most likely the temp sensor. I just changed mine and it had the same prob as yours and it is now fixed. Pretty easy fix really. now .. all my guages work but my oil pressure reads low .. Good luck with it ...B

if I call you I will ask if you have pictures and what your prices are .. and do you want to sell this parts car as a whole car? Chers ..Bruce
  12. me too .. I am driving a pillow right now. I think every rubber bushing is shot and the shocks (struts) are gone too. Bryan .. tell me how hard it was to change the struts. I have done alot of mech work .. but for some odd reason neve changed struts. Do I need a spring compresser? My mechanic friend told me to take my springs out of my 240 parts car and install them with new tokico or kyb struts. he also said for me to remove the upper block on my 280 and install the one from the 240. this will lower the car. anyone comment on this theory? Thanks ..Bruce

I have had the same problem as described in the firsts post. I thought my problem was float level. My mechanic sets the floats by blowing into the float jet (when remover from car) and closing the float as you blow. He sets the float so that it is just past level with the float lid (closer to it) as that is when it is shuting off the valve. This seems to work too. My problem however is that I have been testing the car with no air cleaner on it and it hase been backfiring when warm with the choke off and stops backfiring and runs pretty good when the choke is pulled abit. I have re-installed the air cleaner and will test it in the morning (my eyes are closing at this time of night). It is cold here now and I think the cold air could be my problem. I guess I will see.
  20. As another point to this .. I left the FI gas filter where it is and put another in-line filter after it. We had fun witht gas line sizes ... 3/8 , 1/4 , etc I guess if the pump is there is is much easier to get at if you need to fix it.
  21. hey Arne .. I have just mounter my new pump in the back by the tank. It was pretty easy. Just mount it on a plate on rubber. These pumps can be kinda noisy so in the back may be better. The wires should be there from your old pump too. My opinion is that i want my motor well to be very tidy and I want to reduce the cluter there. The pump near the motor may have heat issues also .. Just my 2 cents worth/ Cheers ..Bruce

I am looking for a choke cable for my 280z I cant seem to find a cable that will adapt to the 72' SUs I have just installed. Can anyone shed some light on this. Is there a chance I will find the correct assembly that will bolt onto my 77' 280 console?
