  1. Hi Victor, I also want to extend my sympathy. I would be devastated if it happened to my car. I have gotten attached to it after 25 years and lots of money invested. Because of that i have it fully covered incl theft. Luckily not at California prices. I am really sorry you were not covered for theft. Mine is covered for $15,000. I have even more than that into it. The condition yours is in will be hard to replace reasonably with another. We hope it comes back like a runaway pet. Steve

Well I guess I have to contribute for the good of the club. Wish I could say I took picture but no beaches like this where I live!
  3. I have seen this once before. I suspect one of two reasons. First you may have a set of the old long discontinued race struts sold thru Datsun Comp Dept. One thing different about these was that the lower spring perch was 2" higher than the stock version. Reason was to create tire clearance just as the reason for coilovers is. If you were to put your springs on those struts that is the result you would get. If you have them keep them they are rare! Second some guys got the same idea years back and cut off their stock spring perch, raised it 2" and rewelded back on. This again would give you the same result installing your springs. In fact people do not to this day have to go to coilovers for tire clearance, raise the perch and cut the spring.

  11. Try this copy. Print it in black and white.

If the Z was aluminum you could forget paint and do what this guy did. I had to have my sunglasses on.
  13. I redid this to try a better copy. Print out and try it. Just need to go measure your tire diameter.
  14. This view also.
  15. I read where one person thought vintage racing was just cruising around on the track. Well its a little more competetive than that. Here is what happened to a local driver at a July 2002 vintage race. Things can get real expensive quick. These have unibody like a Z car and are tough to repair.
  16. Exploded view of 40phh and 44phh.

  19. There is another option I was recently reading about. If you can find a Datsun 810 or Maxima L24 flywheel, it is 17.6 pounds compared to the 24 pound Z flywheel. I have not done it myself. Just passing on info.

To answer your question. Yes, the rear studs are longer. And yes you can put them in the front. We did that to my Z.
