what year is my Z? (long)
The engine number should be stamped on a small flat piece of the block located near the number 5 cylinder, almost directly below the plug for 5, digits are roughly 10mm high. well, that's where it is on mine, correct me if I'm wrong people. Edit: Looks like I got beaten to the punch.

MDyer, don't get me wrong, they look fantastic on an E-Type Jaguar or perhaps even an early MG, but a 280Z? No thank-you, there's a reson they didn't come with them on.- 16 yr. olds 1st car
Other than the spoked rims being hideous and the grill being colour coded to the bonnet, That's a fairly nice car, well done. For a first car though, its fantastic.- and you said i couldnt beat a 350Z
Congrats on the 13.5 man, and a belated Happy Birthday, by the looks of your times if you nailed your launch you'd already be looking at low 13's, with the addition of bigger injectors and more boost you should easily break into the 12's on a good launch as long as you've got enough rubber on the wheel to negate some of the spin you'll get from the added power. But again, congrats on the time, good stuff. What size feet is she wearing at the moment?- Funny article I found...
What it boils down to is, kids are spoilt. They got annoyed when they only got 300points for collecting something. What the hell is that about? And expecting things to be 3D, psssh. I also grew up with a Commodore VIC20, which was not replaced by the C64, no we didn't get a new computer til my mother won a $5000NZD computer package which contained a state of the art Amiga 500, a computer desk, Star1000 ribbon cartridge colour printer, some games and I think a chair as well. Oh, and an extra 512K (I think) of ram! Now most the games on the A500 were hell on joysticks. We must have went through a billion. That inturn didn't get replaced til they bought a PC after they'd (they as in PC's) finally almost caught up in graphics and sound (almost but not quite), with a 486 DX4-100Mhz. I still think Pong is a cool game. GO PONG!- Visiting down under
Heh, that sounds like a good deal Ben, make them see and experience what they missed out on. While you're at it, sit him in a real SX of the 180 or 200 variety, none of this FWD bollocks.- Psychic Dog
That's excellent, thanks for sharing what was shared, I think I'll have to share it as well.- chicks are effed
TKR514, If you really think a wedding ring or a piece of paper would have necessarily stopped it happening, then perhaps you need to look around you a bit more. Last I knew being married didn't stop breakups or misgivings, and you also think any longterm agreement of a financial nature should only be able to be signed by married couples?:stupid: I think you'll find most people have sympathy as they've been through similar situations, if you don't have sympathy for his financial predicament perhaps you have some for the fact his partner, whom he thought he would become married to in due course has left him and is now with someone else. If not then I don't see the point in attempting to state moral highgrounds.- Next project
Z Kid, my 240K cost me $1500NZD ($1300AUD) but you could probably pick up a decent one in OZ for cheaper, hell, mine came over from OZ in July 75 with 11000, when I bought it, it had 88000 Genuine K's on it, almost rust free and I'm the 5th owner and my queries at the Insurance company bought up it's value @ $1400 or around there. Check out this website, look at the very bottom of the page, nice if you've got the moolah http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/24-10-03/ incase you're curious ¥1133000JPY = $14860AUD- chicks are effed
I'll briefly return to hijacking My first car was a 1978 Chrysler Avenger, cost me $300 1600cc automatic, didn't care about the auto because it was only $300, i used to get in the car by running over the roof, if I was on the passenger side that is. Bit of a silly thing to do but .. I was younger then. :classic:- Next project
Looks like it could be an excellent car for a GTR Rep, even a daily runner, but there's a few things that look a bit odd. 1) the centre roof mounted aerial, could be an annoying place for rust to have started. 2) that indicator looks too short to be a stock one, but if could be the angle of the image. Other than being poo-brown it looks good in the image. Let us (or just me) know how it looks in person. and whether or when you get it, then take a billion more pictures.- Early Sundown
The combined insurance costs are likely to be in the $4billion area apparently, so no doubt insurance companies are going to try weasle their way out of every possible case. It really is a horrible way to lose your home, and the way the reporters hound the victims of the fire is disgusting as well.- For 26th-Z and other Rally Interested Parties.

BTW, the current exchange rate is roughly $0.60¢USD buys $1.00NZD- chicks are effed
I can sympathise, I've recently been pushed aside by my GF of 3 years, we purchased a car together but I let her keep it, even though I love it, I have 2 cars, didn't make much sense to have a third when she needed one. I miss Nessie, the 1976 Ford Escort MkII, 2 Door.- Rally 240Z in snow
Scanned from John Davenport's RALLY! Book. The increasing popularity of rallying has meant that the number of hazards on special stages increases in direct proportion to spectator's cars. The additional spotlights on the Aaltonen and Easter Datsun 240Z in the 1971 Monte are aircraft landing lights.- Rally 240Z on gravel
Scanned from John Davenport's RALLY! Book. Special lights fro special conditions as seen on the Aaltonen-Easter Datsun 240Z on the 1973 Safari. The large horizontal flaps are intended to prevent mud being splashed onto the main lights; in any case the high mounted light will stay clean.- Rally 240Z in Service
Scanned from John Davenport's RALLY! Book. The rules of the rally normally control only what may be done to prepare the basic car, so depending on the importance of the event and entrant's budget, unlimited service facilities can be put out on the route. At this Datsun service point at St Sauveur sur Tinée during the 1972 Monte Carlo Rally, mechanics have roped off an area to ease their work on the 240Z of Aaltonen and Todt.- In a moment of weakness, I bought two Z's
I've not long ago, split from my girlfriend of 3 years. Well, I'm not going to try be macho, she split form me. So I'm free to spend like a crazy mad man, no-one can limit my nonsensical expenditure! AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHA.:stupid:- In a moment of weakness, I bought two Z's
- RBZ - Interior New
I'd personally find a way of removing the guage chrome rings or get them painted or coloured to match the steering wheel's gunmetal colour, other than that though she's a pretty nice looking interior, and I'm not normally a fan of modern wheels on classic cars.- RBZ - RBZ & Panda R33 I
The Z looks nicer, I've never really been a big fan of the R33, it's the family looking car of the Skyline series. However, quick question... does your mate know it defeats the purpose to have your bonnet painted black if it's painted in gloss instead of matt.- datsun/ nissan 240z/240sx CHECK THIS OUT!!!
Yeah, you're right, it does look Ferrari-esque, I was thinking that myself, but yet, not quite but definate similarities.- datsun/ nissan 240z/240sx CHECK THIS OUT!!!
I'll give the Skyline splice a go, I'll have to find some images in my pile of them so give me some time. But I fear it shall look most disgusting, as much as I love the Skylines, chopping and changing isn't on the cards, the classic ones that is. The Z has a classic somewhat timeless look, hence why it doesn't tend to look out of place on the 180SX rear end. Although each Skyline is pretty decent to look at in it's own right, it isn't really a candidate for front cuts and other such things. I agree, my version doesn't quite look Z enough, and you're right, it must have been a bit subconscious, I was comparing to images of Z's mostly front 3qtr which could also help explain, but my K must have taken over :classic: , the window section on yours looks better and due to it's extra length removes the need to place a rear bumper extension, thus keeping a more classic Z look. However, having said that, I much prefer the slight edge I took of the headlight surround, It's much too harsh a cut to match the smooth lines of the SX rear end and besides, I have to claim some small victory in my 5minutes of photoshopping.- 1971 Motorman NZ Magazine 240Z Review Cover Page
