  1. My brother bought her, she looks great beside the K doesn't she?
  2. That's horrible news, but I guess, such is life. Just make sure you hang around and keep tabs on us other guys. :classic:

According to Ray, the RB bolted right up to the L-series box, but I think you'd be silly to not use an RB-series Turbo 5spd on any Hybrid RB-engine. It'd just be safer, the Turbo boxes are apparently stronger. You could always stroke the RB20DET to 2.4 that way the 240K namesake still stays intact. It's something I've considered, of course, my eventual plan is a hell of a lot more ambitious.
  4. That's alright then. What I have cost me less than that, so it's all good. If I could have got a Twin SU setup for the price I got the triple manifold and 4 carbs (2 sets of twins) I probably would have gone that route. As it is I still have to fabricate linkages and fuel lines but it will still come to less than that price mentioned when I'm finished. I've never dealt with SU's before and these aren't Japanese SU's so I'm pretty much flying blind, but I'll figure it out, it's just a matter of time.
  5. How much do you think a setup would/should cost? At what point would you say, "hell no, I'm not paying that!" ?
  6. The Holden 6 (grey/red/blue & black) also run a 1-5-3-6-2-4 firing order dude.
  7. If you use the "Search" function on this site and on Google and type in "Triple SU L series" you'll come across a document that doesn't think it's a particularly good idea due to the Firing Order and thereby Air/Fuel per Cylinder ratio. However, if I walk into my garage, there's one on the workbench that I'm in the prcoess of getting sorted, it may not be particularly beneficial going from a 240Z's nicely tuned Twin SU's to some Triple SU's, but going from a 240K's single 2BBL to some Triple's is always going to be a little bit better. And even if it's not, it didn't cost me too much and it's worth a try right? ... right??
  8. Just a small note, I checked the website, if you've got a hardtop/2dr/coupe you have a KHGC110 as opposed to a HGC110 (which is written on the website) which is the 4door. K- Hardtop H- Engine Series (L-series in this case) G- Long Wheel Base C110- Series/Chassis Designation. HtH
  9. Cool, Thanks. I'm checking it out tonight. Apparently the guy bought it form another guy down here in Invers but it's spent the majority of it's lifetime in CHCH after it was imported in 1978, I think I spy an Oz compliance plate in the engine bay so that could be where it came from. Yeah the CHCH dark green one, he's trying to sell it for $16,500NZD :stupid: now, it's on www.classiccarfair.com. Apparently this car I'm going to be looking at is all matching numbers but I'll certainly be having a good nosey and if my brother is really keen on it after the nosey we'll probably see if we can't get a VTNZ check done on it. Thanks again for your help.
  10. Hey guys, I've been here for a wee while now and I think I know most places to check and the basics of what to looks for but if anyone wants to refresh, by all means, do so. My brother and I will sometime this week be going along to a guys place in my own hometown even, to check out a 1973 240Z. He wants $11,500NZD o.n.o (roughly $7,300USD) and by the pictures, it appears to be in relatively good shape, if anyone has anything to mention, feel free. I've already queried him in regards to the Air Cleaner being black, he informed me the PO painted it black and also cut a hole in it. So I'll be sure to investigate that a bit further. Thoughts? Opinions? Advice? I'm busy being dreamy about having a 240Z and a 240K in the family to go on cruises
  11. Oh, forgot to add a comment in regards to choice .. whoops. :stupid: Initially my choice was with the SSR MkIII's however, after playing around in Photoshop I came to the conclusion that the VOLK Racing rims looked a lot more aggressive and a lot nicer. Having said that, I'd still probably go with the older styled rims if having to choose from the three provided. My true preference however would be to hold out and wait for some RS-Watanabe rims, $1,000+ spent on other rims is $1,000+ that could be saved to attain something a lot nicer looking, more period correct and a 10x better than anythign else. Keeping in mind I have a RS-Watanabe addiction.
  12. That's an awesome story Ben, sounds like you had an absolute blast, I can only imagine the excitement of sitting in the LY powered monster I hope one day I can experience a similar level of highly dedicated Z and/or Skyline fanatics... perhaps one day.

  15. I couldn't help myself A quick 10 minute flick into Adobe to see what they would look like: SSR MkII
  16. It certainly looks a lot nicer and cleaner now, well done. However, I think you should change the base font to Arial to keep the nice clean look, Times New Roman isn't a tremendously pretty font and it looks a bit untidy IMHO. Otherwise though, it's good
  17. Alfadog; Most of it is just random web searches, I can't recall the site but I saved that info into a text file for the sole purpose of correcting or adding to your list, sometime in the future Setanta; Those are some nice quality looking 1/24th scale models, I think the wagon has it's own appeal however if we were going for a wagon my pick would be a VC10...
  18. Oh and now that I've gone back and read the rest of the thread I've got a couple of articles from magazines already typed out, I Have them all ready for when I can afford to get the site I was going to do, all sorted out... it all takes money and with a distinct lack of employment I haven't been able to get it sorted yet. Accursed money. One is from March 1973, Wheels magazine ( I believe Lachlan (Alfadog) has this magazine also ) review on the Hardtop. Another from March 1975, Modern MOTOR Magazine. ( review on the Sedan, which as I understand it was a later and more popular export to Australia ) I have another C210 related article comparing the Cressida to the Skyline but have yet to type it out, more to do with being lazy than a lack of money. :classic:
  19. First up, welcome Secondly, as Alfadog said, any help you want, give us a yell and we'll see what we can do to answer it. Let's play the model game Lachlan, you ready? C110 (Sept. 72) Sedan & Hardtop (referred to as hardtop instead of coupe due to lack of pillars.) 2000GT-X, L20 (lu'X'ury Spec, electric windows air-con, etc.) 2000GT, L20 1800GL, G18 1600GL, G16 1600DX, G16 Sedan Only 1800DX, G18 1600STD, G16 Wagon 1800DX, G18 1600DX, G16 1600STD, G16 January 1973 - All Hail the GT-R 2000GT-R, S20 C111 (June 1976) (The reign of the L-series) Sedan & Hardtop 2000GTX-ES, L20E 2000GTX-E, L20E 2000GT-E, L20E 2000GT-L Type, L20 2000GT, L20 1800GL, L18 1600GL, L16 Sedan Only 1800DX, L18 1600DX, L16 Wagon 1600GL, L16 1600DX, L16 Export Variant 240K (GL & GT), L24 C210 (August, 1977)
  20. Oh yes, for sure. Dual SU's would certainly be adequate, however in NZ such things manifolds inclusive don't tend to show up for sale tremendously often, if they did and for the right price I would certainly look at getting them if not get them just for the sake of it. And being a Dual manifold and carb setup for L6 is a rare occurance you can imagine my surprise when a triple manifold and carbs came about, so it's not as though I would be getting it for bragging rights, simply because it's available currently for a relatively decent price where the other option is not. And should it perform nicely then I may simply look at working my engine around those carbs. I note posts of you looking for an LD28 crank, you can pick up entire LD28 engines here for around the $3-500 mark and occaisionally an entire Laurel with one in for less, I'll possibly be looking at doing it later, so the same availability issues you face in getting your stroker parts is similar to me finding Dual SU's and manifold for an L-series 6cylinder.
  21. I'll have it if you're giving it away
  22. 3 SU's on a 6 Cylinder is hardly over-carbing.. that's the equivalent of saying dual SU's on a 4cyl is overcarbing, which doesnt quite make any sense as I'm sure many Datsun, 1200 an 1600 people would agree. 1 SU per 2 cylinders... fine and dandy. 1 SU per cylinder... THAT would be overcarb'ing :cheeky:
  23. Actually the motor is a bit sad on it (10 years of storage will do that) and the single carb is not exactly fantastic, but you'd probably be surprised at how well she does. We weren't speeding by any means, we were only doing around the 80-100km/h mark, nothing fantastic. If I get the triple SU's I'm looking at, it may be a bit more enjoyable to drive The other 3 cars on that small cruise were all turbos, 2x GTS-t and 1 GTS-4, the Black GTS-t guy was quite impressed with the C110's pulling power but that could be because he wasn't expecting much for a start I'm sure we all know you shouldn't underestimate the L-series engine
  24. Indeed, C10 are different again. As for being similar, yes, the GT shield badge may appear similar however, the C110 GT shield is 80mm wide and about 45mm deep whereas the more modern (32, 33 and 34) shields are about 40mm wide give or take 5-10mm so there is a significant difference, also have to take into account font type etc.
  25. Some pics of the Cruise can be found here: http://godzilla.netfirms.com/sduQT.htm
