Definitely offshore, nothing is made here anymore, but looks a hell of a lot better than my cracked drums. Just from my initial impressions the workmanship looks very good.

I'm trying to find a caliper that will give me a good measurement but they definitely are new. I'll have to back off the adjustment screw a good bit when I install them. Just thought of this but now they are here I'll replace the shoes and springs as well. According to the FSM the standard inner diameter should be 228.6 with the wear limit of 230.0. I'll report back when measured.

Received the brake drums yesterday. Really impressed with the quality and I'm not talking about my staged photos on the couch. 6.5 lbs. vs. 12 lbs. each for cast iron.

I understand the thought but I just don't feel comfortable keeping them. I went ahead and ordered the aluminum brake drums from datsunparts.com. The weight difference was just too great for me to go with cast iron (6.5 lbs vs. 12 lbs). I know it doesn't make much sense given the price difference but it would have bugged me. I'll let y'all know my thoughts on them when they arrive.

I was cleaning up my drums ('72 Z) and noticed some cracks. They obviously have to be replaced. Saw 2 options- Cast Iron and Aluminum Cast iron available most anywhere but not original Found some aluminum drums from datsunparts.com and would rather go this route. Has anyone dealt with tried these drums before?

I did not see them, probably didn't even think to look. I paid $1800.00 give or take.

The yellow Chromate plating that seems to be everywhere on these cars.

I can't imagine thats the total length though. I saw somewhere its an M8x1.25 x 45mm which makes sense, just wanted to pick the brain trust here.

Can someone tell we the dimensions of the 3 studs that connect the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe? (1972 Z) Searched but ran out of steam... Thanks!

I know this is an old thread but these last two photos by Dadsun have me thinking. I am in the process of getting my carbs rebuilt (1972) and doing away with the water heated manifold. (Alabama) Why can't you just plug the nipple below the thermostat, do away with the hard pipe behind and on the right side of the motor? I plan on taking the Y-connector and modifying so it basically just goes to the heater core. Am I missing something? Thanks Tad

Well if you think the steering is heavy with the 195 width the 205 should be heavier and the ride will be somewhat rougher. My thinking on tires for these older cars that haven't been modified is mixed. If you want to experience the drivability that Datsun intended you should stick to the original size as closely as possible. That's important to some, not to others. In todays market this really limits the availability of the tires and there in lies another issue. I too have an unmodified Z and just ordered some new wheels and tires for it. Based on tires available I ended up going with a 16" Panasports and 205/55 ultra high performance all-season tires. Nothing crazy but it should tighten up the response some without sacrificing all of the true Z feel. I know this last paragraph doesn't answer your question, just food for thought. Good luck!

Just for closure I just ordered a set of 16 x 7 Panasport wheels with 0 offset from sportsandclassics.com About the only place I found, will be shipping out today. Super nice folks to deal with. Tad

I tried him 1st. He only offers a +11 offset for 225/50 x 16 tires and I don't want to go that wide.

I'm ready to buy some Panasport wheels for my '72. 16 x 7 with 0 offset, or perhaps +4. Plan on running 205/55 x 16 tires. Car is totally stock. Any idea's on a preferred dealer? Thanks,

Blue pipe I'm taking off my emissions and saw this. Seems important but I have no idea how important. It obviously needs to be attached somewhere...

Goes on the intake manifold near the firewall. Mine broke off when I was trying to remove the short hose that attaches to this doohickey.
